  1. Interesting comment from somebody with the same name on the Joost tape sage: Ken Heuer 3/30/2009 8:46 PM show me one person who has not had fun with a camera! it is his business and if anyone can sit back and be a sanctimonious asshole who never did anything wrong, nothing fun, then their lives would be a whole bunch of boredom. it is his life and let all the idiots piss off. http://www.sport24.co.za/Content/Rugby/264/eb81507812fc4403a5ab853f20b36091/01-01-0001%2012-01/Cooling_off_period_for_Joost
  2. Also seems like he is more concerned about his rescued carnivores (according to his website) than his fellow human beings. Die kosie verkoop battery visse!
  3. I see his e-mail address on the top. So we can all show him how to keep his mailbox at ransom...... On a serious note, he talks about obeying the rules of the road (traffic offence) in the same line as bragging about running somebody over (criminal offence). I love the lack of logic most of these people display. I wonder if they also run the people over that cross the road (pedestrians) and senior citizens that take a little bit too long to clear the pedestrian crossing.

Rant On.... I did the race last year (my first road race ever) and it was damn easy. This year I intent to do the MTB on the Saturday and the Road on the Sunday. But can you imagine the joy in my heart when I found out that you pay a total of R20 for admin fees if you book online for the 2 races. Now I know it is not a lot of money, but R10 on a R50 race is a 20% admin fee (apparently that is what the people doing the online entries charge). So now I'm printing out the entry forms (25c each) filling it out and faxing it to them (R1-50), so that one of the sorry souls in the office get the poor paper and have to enter it manually (will take the person about 10 minutes so lets say it will cost them R50 in labour fees), so I can save R18. Then I will phone them in a week to confirm the details are correct (seeing that some office data capturer did it from my scribbly handwriting) and waste another 15 minutes of their time. My oh my, but I can be a moaning old man when I want to be........ <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Event organisers need to get on with times. They are wasting time and money by trying to do things manually.
  5. porky, Coronary artery disease is a Chronic PMB (Prescribed Minimum Benefit) condition and therefor the medical aid HAS to pay for the treatment even if it is not on their list of medication and even if the patients MSA has been depleted. According to PMB they have to pay for the same care the patient would have received in public. So, if the public hospital would have treated the patient and prescribed that medicine, the medical aid has to pay it. Medical aids prefer to ignore most of the items in the PMB and hope that the doctors and patients will just ignore it and pay for these items cash. If you require ANY help with these claims, contact SpesNet at 0126739262 I think. I don't know if they will charge you to assist but doctors that are members will get the advice for free. They specialize in claims from Medical Aids and correct billing and coding from doctors. You can PM me if you need some more info but most of it can be found at http://www.bhfglobal.com/prescribed-minimum-benefits. Check the bottom links for the FAQ as it makes for very interesting reading. To get back to the Medical Aids' lack of paying, as long as the coding is correct, they don't have a foot to stand on, but too many doctors ignore the coding standards so the Medical Aids will reject claims left right and center based on mistakes from the pharmacists and doctors. I agree that medical aids are a bunch of you name it whats, but when you know the law and their procedures, you can make them pay for your broken collar bone sustained during a professional cycle race. The beauty is that they are well regulated, but they bargain on our ignorance of the regulations.
  6. First Lionman for me and I think it was pretty tough in the middle section (all the major climbing was done in a matter of 15km). I was prepared with my overstocked bag with Gu, Vooma and Energy bars. Just enough energy to power a small town on a cold winter?s night. I learned from the Sani2c not expect water tables at the most convenient places so I had enough fluids with me (3l water and 800ml Cyto HP drink). I skipped the water points up to the Castrol Garage as I had more than enough and only refilled my Camelbak then because my water was slightly warm. Completed the race in 5:35 and really enjoyed it although I had a cold (which is something worse now) and one serious fall at the end of the 35km stage (in full view of everyone I hit a ditch and did a spectacular over-ambitious dismount over the handle bars AND still managed to catch my bike in mid-air! My ego still hurts!). I also see myself as an over prepared type of guy and I even had my rain top in case. Luckily I had no mechanicals or punctures whatsoever and the only stopping I did was to catch my breath (and there were quite a few of those with the long climb to the tower). Overall I think it was a great race and will do it again. We made a whole weekend out of it.
  7. You all are evil and will be punished for leaving your bikes in the garage. My bike sleeps in a Cloud9 King Size bed with silk sheets.... <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> On a serious note, I use the same bike stands that the LBS use in my study for all our bikes. Bike is supported in the normal position by the chain stay (think that's what you call it)
  8. Mine screeched and I just put some oil on it. I go a lot faster now and the brakes don't make a noise anymore........ <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Honestly, put some Sunlight liquid on the rotor. It will remove all oily substances and the screeching will only last until the pads has been seated.
  9. Maybe it was uphill with a head-wind?
