  1. Also been watching the entire Earthed Downhill DVD series!! Man those guys are sick. Ja, rockgardens are another breed. Have almost seen my arse a few times with them, but that's been when my speed is pathetic. I've noticed going through with momentum helps. I'm pretty cool with smaller jumps about 300mm high or so (sounds pretty weak - 300mm!!) I really must try the pedal/shoe position because there are times I am bucked a bit and that does not give confidence with bigger stuff. But hey I'm amped, it's such a rad form of the sport.
  2. Guys, thanks a stack. Quite a lot to absorb!! I guess to basically practice. Maybe try to get one thing done at a time. But for starters, I must get the looking ahead thing right. I've realised that, that has to help with cornering, seeing obstacles ect. Great, when I have that, I'll join on SH and see what happens! This type of riding is kickass compared to XC I did before. Tights, clips, silly helmets and km's of up and down!!! No thanks. Watching what those guys at Eden Downhill did a while ago has also inspired me. Now I am off to unweld my 510's from the pedals.
  3. loveme.DH/FR. Thanks a stack for advice!! I do tend to brake way before a corner, but I also have a habit of looking almost directly down at the front whell and tend to be reactive to obstacles rather than seeing them sooner. I need to practice looking up. My saddle is a bit too high as well I think. Looking at some DH bikes the saddle is almost on the rear wheel. Do you ride with cleated shoes or flats? I secured a pair of 510's the other day, how do you stay on your pedals doing jumps and stuff?
  4. Ha ha. OK!! I'll do that
  5. Also Spanks. I travel so slowly downhill at the moment, brakes are almost optional
  6. Nice bash guard colours!!!
  7. Thanks. Well so far - good. I would have prefered the Subrosa's, they are a bit wider. Otherwise I am well pleased with this boy. Now I gotta ride it like it is meant to be. Maybe I should disconnect the brakes
  8. OK, here's my ride. Morewood Shova 150mm Lyric Fork Fox RP23 rear Spank rims WTB Prowler 2.5 Front WTB Prowler 2.3 Rear Halo Rear Hub Nukeproof Front Everything else is run-of-the-mill brakes, cassette, crank Was putting on shifter cables at the time of the pic.
  9. Hi Cap, I'm not so sure, I ride those trails carefully. A short technical strip downhill will be perfect for me I'm sure. But I will try it out.
  10. Thanks lmDH/FR. I have a 150mm front and 5.7" (I think) rear. Both are air regulated. I think I will give SH a go sooner than later. Just want to get used to the Shova, only had it a month now. Also a bit wary coz I tore some ligaments in my shoulder just being plain stupid. Shot for info.
  11. Hi Capricorn, I am relatively new to the freeride/downhill riding. Mostly I ride Eden, Jonkers, GSpot. You think my Shova will be able to ride the SH trail? I've been following the thread and the trail looks really awesome. Cheers
  12. Hi Guys, For those of you that are interested in these shoes, CityRock in Obz Cape Town have the Impact Low and Karver range on their floor. Prices are not that bad either.
  13. Yeah is funny clip though. I've got xrays to prove my tumble with mother earth
  14. No sir, will not slander. Maybe my bad experience was an anomoly and as such cannot be treated as the norm.
  15. If you know what you want and how much it is worth, then you can pick and choose your shops, or buy online. You cannot haggle at a boutique shop. You ask, you get, you pay. Thats why the hub is here, to get good deals on stuff. For me I like to tinker on my bike, some things I need help with, but most of the stuff I try myself. Anyway, there is no Cajees in Cape Town, some of them just trade under a different name.
  16. I wonder if there is a Cajees in Cape Town I should avoid?
  17. I thought it was to cover your eyes to keep mud out?! Oh, well. I guess I was wrong.
  18. Yeah awesome pics. Cape Town has some of SA'S BEST trails.
  19. Yes an awesome paint/build job. Price not that bad as well. Who did the anodizing?
  20. I like to think that my slog up the jeep track will be rewarded with a nice fast descent through the single track. Straight up and the long way down

  23. Crow, that is a frikken awesome piece of engineering masterpiece.
  24. Yes I would tend to agree with that. It could be used as an indication of a guys selling/buying qualities, maybe I don't know.
  25. Anyone know what the reputation thing means?
