  1. My Dual suspension handled those corrugations quite well. That was with my backside in the seat. Still had all my teeth in place afterwards.
  2. Entered. Good to go. No 3 at Curro was a good fast race, enjoyed it. In fact I was so chuffed afterwards that I entered the crater cruise in Parys in two weeks time. It will be my first event outside of the trailseeker events.
  3. I can't see it being to hot. Probably just dry and dusty. The weather for the Tarialseeker 3 this past weekend was perfect. Had it been a day earlier, Friday, I think I would have still been riding now with that wind.
  4. Happened to me with the last race. I sent an email to jumpertrax on the Monday and they sorted it out. I assume you had a device which recorded your time. They were helpful.
  5. Yip I use to ride to school, BMX, Raleigh Burner. It was all up hill going to school and all down hill from school to home.
  6. Hell now there's a blast from the past.
  7. Schwalbe racing Ralph snakeskin rear and Schwalbe Nobby Nic Snakeskin front would be my choice.
  8. Yes that is something that started 2 odd months back. I have an Amex card with work as part of my salary so i use to spend my fair share at Cyclelab in Fourways. So since they stopped Accepting them i have stopped shopping there. Their actions backfired with me because now i hardly go there where as i often use to spend my cash there monthly.
  9. Go to Sportsmans Warehouse they will do bike carriers and accept Amex cards.
  10. Then this next race should be ok to do that. If it's anything like the Cullinan race it should flow nicely. There was nothing to break you there. So far these Trailseeker races this year seem to have been more about enjoyment and good flowing rides than bike breaking stuff. I have enjoyed these first two races and I am sure this one will not disappoint.
  11. Went and rode at modderfontein this morning for the first time during the day. I have done 3 Kia night races there but thats all in the dark. I think i have found a new weekend ride for the next couple of weeks. Really enjoyed it.
  12. I can relate to the weight thing. I don't weigh 70 kg's. The technical stuff is just about sticking with it. Don't be shy to walk an obstacle. Ask me because the alternative is falling and hurting yourself means less riding and fixing bikes can get expensive. The thing i have learnt with the technical stuff is don't hesitate because then you are buggered. Momentum is your friend on the technical stuff as funny as that sounds. The other thing is tyre pressures with heavier riders. Riding with very hard tyres to compensate for your weight back fires. Lower your tyre pressures because the technical stuff gets easier with tyres that are not rock hard. Your whole ride experience with lower tyre pressures is better.
  13. Yes it was a great ride last night. Long wait for the next one. Well organized races. Big thumbs up KIA.
  14. I went from a 3x10 to a 2x10. I was sceptical before the purchase but once ridden i would not go back. That 2x10 just works for trail riding. There seems to be less clutter as far as gears go.
  15. I think the fact that Hakahana has only been open for less than a year to the public is part of it. Then i have this theory that south africans tend to find a place they like and then they stick to it and dont like change. When i started mtb i started at Hakahana so i wod go as far as to say that its my favourite trail. I have ridden van Gaalens once and we didnt find it well marked and as a result were not so sure of where we were going. I suspect the way to learn van Gaalens is to either do a race there or ride with people that know it. Back to Hakahana. The basic blue route is alot tougher than the equivalent at alot of other places. Not sure if your weekend riders just prefer time in the saddle as opposed to feeling challenged. I suspect as time goes by it will get busier. To me Hakahana flows nicely the kms click by provided you are fit otherwise it can be a long day in the saddle. I am sure this group ride thing Hakahana has started on weekends will help alot. I dont need convincing to ride there. Its still early days less than a year so i am sure it will get busier.

    Accident

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=596376817145582&id=473022959480969 I don't know if this is lucky but i think he used up one of his 9'lives.
  17. The giant trance with SLX spec you should get for R24 000.00.
  18. The flu has gotten into my chest and nose on Saturday night. What makes it worse was that I took a tumble at Northern Farms and hurt my shoulder 10 days before the flu, so just as my shoulder was 70 % there I thought let me take a ride on Sunday to test the shoulder and woke up with flu.

    Who remembers?

Hell talk about taking a trip down memory lane with this thread. Spatz I remember well. Spent many Saturday and Friday night there. Late Night Dukes in Rosebank. Foxies in Rivonia. What was the one in Randburg called "Chillers?"
