  1. Careful. If this thread becomes too popular we might start seeing more white bibs out in the streets.
  2. Smaller turn out this year. The price and having it the same weekend as the Magalies Monster might have been factors. Either way it was a fantastic event. Lovely way to see part of the city.
  3. WTH is &. I’m not finding this symbol from previous years (2016 groups). Can anyone help in understanding the start groups?
  4. Turns out Froome is quicker on a training ride with considerably more km and climbing. To put this into perspective: This ‘Fast One’ race was 96km and ONLY 600m climbing. Chris Froomes ‘training ride’ was 271km AND 3400m climbing. Nolan Hoffman won @ an average speed = 44.2km/h Chris Froome trained @ an average speed = 44.8km/h Surely the gap between them can’t be that vast? Fin
  5. Unfortunately not. The company is still relatively new and their distribution network still has a long way to go. They can ship directly to SA though. I have not looked at the costs in this regard but it may be worth looking into. Especially when you have to factor buying 3 local bikes over your little one's life.
  6. Find somebody in Euprope/UK that can bring home a littlebig 3in1 bike. You won't look back for a straight 5 years. Yes. 5. It grows with your kid and is solidly built to last.
  7. Hekpoort climb towards the end utterly dismantled the field. A longer route certainly compounded the carnage too. All in all a great smooth race that made up for the poorly organized parking at the start.
  8. Sometimes there are super bike specials (think 50%). I financed my first bike at I think 13% interest over 24 months and paid it off in 10 months. Even if I paid it off over the full term the discount far outweighed the interest charged. I would not have done so on a 10% discount. It may be useful for your friend to review his budget and determine what he can afford. P.S. Wesbank has been doing it for a while and their systems are quite sound (you can monitor the facility and easily request a settlement when ready.
  9. So um.... pretty spot on
  10. The route map has changed. There's no longer a mini monster climb before the monster. Wonder if they s will make harder or easier...
  11. If Eagen is on the Hub, kindly be advised you are starting in Batch E
  12. Anyone else having issues with Flight Booster? My cashback was for 14 May and still nothing. Discovery apparently has accidentally been paying members twice and has now stopped payments completely. I'm calling BS. "Dear Mr... There is a general issue with paying out Flight Booster cash backs. We are currently running a fix to try and resolve. As per our discussion that this matter is not isolated to your profile and there is currently no turnaround for resolution. We will continue to follow up on this and keep in touch with you. We apologise for all inconveniences caused."
  13. Did you look at the expected wind?
  14. Replace premier seeding event with great practice run.
  15. Tough day in the saddle. It was pointless trying to follow the below graph for the '102km' route. For R390 at least someone could have uploaded the right map. Especially since we were gifted with 5-6km extra. I suppose ASG made sure we got maximum bang for buck. Considering the length of the route it also would have been useful to have a racetec mat halfway as done in previous events. Again, I doubt this would be costly for the entry fee paid. http://m.imgur.com/VFBHhtj?r
  16. So.... my points goal changed today from 900 to 1200. Pretty sure I haven't done a high performance test ever. Has Discovery applied a new rule to increase the points goal based on other criteria?
  17. Rain that bad in Limpopo too eh
  18. I tend to expect all the worst elements in one day. 40 degrees heat, raging downpours, gusts of wind etc. This forum hyped up lots of rain after all so the weather on Sunday IMO was perfect.
  19. Green route is beginner friendly. Mostly keep track and quite scenic with the few ponds you pass. Blue route doable with some climbing and single track. No real obstacles. Overall NF is a great and family friendly venue. I never felt unsafe driving there.
  20. Seeding sms's will apparently come this evening, as mentioned by Stillwater.
  21. Good Day All, I'm new to this ever growing community. I suppose I can say a lot but I will try to highlight the important points: I am 173cm tall, looking for a 650b new MTB. I have done a lot of reading and filtered down to a select few bikes. I understand the pros and cons of buying new vs second hand. It boils down to peace of mind buying new, and getting decent discounts from a nearby LBS. Are there any experienced guys that can comment on the below 3 bikes component-wise, and which appears to be the better bike? The primary use is recreational riding in an estate on light trails.
