I take another road from Durbanville to the city past Century City (Bosmansdam road). I go over Jip de Jager, Hendrik Verwoerd, le Sueur, a couple of left and rights in Imhoff in Monta Vista and then into Edgemead Dr towards Bosmansdam. Worst bit is passing over N7 and Montagu Gardens. The road has far less debre on it than your road At the moment I have to go to clients but should be back next week

The biggest lesson with cycling in the wind is to always be aware of gusts of wind. And then of cause the fact that you waste your energy to try and fight the wind. Accept that you will go slower and just keep on cycling. It is like swimming, you are not stronger that water so don't fight it. And you will become stronger. Amost like cycling uphill all the time

A low and behold I get a flat even with knoble tire, tire liner and stans in the tube. Sometimes not your day Thanks to the 2 guys on ridged mtb's( nice Niner!) and the fast and friendly red fixie guy for overing help. To the rest, thanks for nothing Moral of the story: always go prepared with extra tubes. And of course food. My choice an apple in the morning and jungle bar in afternoon.

I am looking for ideas for higher end single speed specific frames for a project. Rigid or suspention at front. Thinking about Niner SIR9, Santa Cruz Highball, Cannondale with Lefty There are some serious expensive titanium frames but that is out of my league Any ideas?

Dalem, the cheapest way is to just keep your bike in one gear. Do this by locking your rear deraileur in place with the screws that you use to set the limits. Next, break your casset into pieces by removing the bolts that keep it all together. Find another discarded casset and do thr same. This is done to get the spacers. Now, play around to find the gear ratio that works for you. Middle blade at front and something like 18 at back. Now stick your selected gear for the back together with the spacers on the hub with the gear aligned with the front blade. Now remove all the other bits and cables. This might not be a longterm solution or be very ellegant but it is cheap. The beter solution would be to buy a spacer kit with stronger gear for back as well as a proper chain tensioner Hope all of that made sense
