  1. It took a while but here she is out on a spin, Eddy Merckx Professional 1982 in Molteni Team Tribute Livery
  2. Very nice!
  3. I will ask Glenzito, to ask Chris as he works there now.
  4. This is a rare find as according to research very few of these frames still exist. These frames were first manufactured in 1973. A Speedwell Titanium "Ron Kitching". Ron Kitching was a key figure in the British bike trade from the late 1940s through to the early 1990s. He was also a keen long-distance cyclist. According to the frame number on the dropout PR1074017 the frame was manufactured in October 1974 (first for digits of number 1074) and the fork was manufactured in September 1975 (PR975016). Unfortunately this frame has a crack on the bottom of the seat tube that was repaired, so no riding just for hanging on the wall. On the first photo on the down tube is a piece of orange and yellow decal sticker typical of the ones found on some Peugeot frames. This was stuck on to cover the repaired crack and the second photo is of the frame with the "coverup" removed. Just for a bit of Monday morning bike frame history

  6. Thanks, I am going to definitely look into that.
  7. One for the vintage MTB collectors, Bridgestone MB-4 Trailblazer with a Shimano LX group. It is about a 1988 model and rides remarkably well for such an old bike. It is fitted with a touring saddle and have all the fittings for conversion to a touring bike. I bought the bikes as a pair. It belonged to a husband and wife and the one is a bit smaller than the other. All steel.
  8. The Eroica is open to bikes from any country. It is only in the Tour of ara that you have to ride a SA built bike.
  9. Nice pic thanks.
  10. Super Glue
  11. Just as a matter of interest, HeyYou asked me yesterday what year and model this bike is. I thought mid 2000's, but I was surprised to find out that this is actually a 1995 carbon Trek 5000 OCLV.
  12. Beautiful LC. Happy to see my old Cinelli saddle on that beauty.
  13. I don't own any carbon bikes apart from my carbon/titanium Van Tuyl, but this old classic retro carbon Trek with the Campagnolo Shamal wheels really got my attention. It is fitted with an Easton carbon straight fork. The original fork came with the bike so I will refit at some stage.
  14. Nice bike, love the crank setup. I did the CTCT on my vintage Eddy Merckx last year but this year going a bit lighter with my classic carbon titanium Van Tuyl.
  15. This is my favourite South African steel frame built by the master himself. There is a bit of a story behind how I got my hands on it. The young man who owned it traveled to the USA and ran a bit low on cash so he called his dad in Cape Town telling him to sell the bike and send him some travel money.
  16. Very cool.
  17. Beautiful and very rare. Shimano 600 Arabesque.
  18. Rare find, custom built Du Toit by master frame builder Francois du Toit. Full set of 600 tricolor.
  19. It fits on my wall
  20. This is a special find, Bianchi Low Pro.
  21. Thanks LC, and for the advice . Here is a pic of of Tshepo and I. Tshepo is a young rider from Whippet Cycles who rode the last 70 km of the 200 km stage 1 route with me. BTW I did not have enough time to get the Alpina that I got from Vic ready for the ride so I rode the tour on my trusty old Hansom. It was really an awesome experience completing the Tour of ara.
  22. Hi Vic, that was a great discovery. I tried to find out the history of the frame from Arthur Parsons who I bought it from but I don't think he even knew that it belonged to Tony Impey. No regrets I am glad the bike went to you who will appreciate the history attached. Here is my replacement TI
  23. Wow, I am still dreaming about finding that elusive Cinelli. Good find LC, very exciting.
  24. It is a thing of beauty.
  25. Hi Quinton the work was done by Johnny Koen's guy in Port Elizabeth. Let me see if I can get details and get back.
