  1. Some Shimano 600 Arabesque parts arrived from Hungary today.
  2. Update: The seller has already dispatched the parts and it is coming via the French Colissimo Postal Service. He sent me the tracking number and proof of payment for the 100 Euros. I checked the rates online and South Africa falls in the "Other" category and the fee is correct for the size of the parcel. He admitted that the mistake was on their side and is honouring the transaction. So it seems that I am getting my parts after all.
  3. I decided to share this bit of a hiccup with getting these parts from France with you guys. The seller sent me an email today saying that the Etsy Website that he advertised on was not suppose to allow purchasers from South Africa to buy from him, although his advert says "Shipping World wide". The postage that I paid, 30 Euros, apparently only covers the cost for delivery in France and the cost to send the parts to SA is 100 Euros. He now wants me to pay in another 50 Euros. How is that for a shocker.
  4. From my friend Glenzito for my Eddy Merckx. A piece of art.
  5. I wonder how many times I have just been beaten to my dream vintage bike
  6. I went to see this bike on Friday and it would have been in my garage already, but unfortunately it is not in good shape. I can live with the bad spray job because one can respray however the FD mount has been hacked off and there is a dent in one of the seat stays. The BB is also very loose and it looks like the thread may have been damaged.
  7. I have a few bikes that have been hanging in other peoples garages for years that I returned to its former glory with a bit of lukewarm water and soap and a good waxing. I use a bit of aluminium foil and water to clean off any surface rust. All the best with the clean, post some photos of the bike.
  8. I didn't realize that my previous entry was already 4000, the thread count in the sidebar before my last entry was 3999. Either way we reached 4000
  9. I decided to compose reply number 4000 so here it is a photo of my full set of Shimano 600 Arabesque including wheels on its way from France.
  10. You have all the parts in your garage.
  11. I am there.
  12. Sounds good, I also sent a message to Glen. We can get a nice group together.
  13. Would've loved to join and see those bikes first hand, hopefully soon we will get our group together here in CT.
  14. Those bikes are all beautiful man.
  15. Nice Rozanne, looking good. Enjoy the retro ride and post some photos of all the bikes.
  16. My wife unfortunately is very good at finding my bicycle parts in the house and promptly orders it to the garage.
  17. Thanks for the info one of my friends was interested in the ad. I forewarned him.
  18. That's impressive, so much attention to detail in that groupset.
  19. Glenzito (here on the hub) has a very nice Dura Ace 27 mm seatpost in his shop at a very reasonable price. I was going to take it for my Battaglin but it was to big. Let my know if you interested and I will inbox you his number.
  20. Battaglin built, mixed it up a bit. The bike mainly built with Campagnolo Veloce parts, but decided to use old school Campagnolo downtube shifters and Modolo brake levers, polished and no hoods.
  21. My Shimano 600 Arabesque set is coming on nicely, I am still looking for a crankset and brake calipers so if anyone have some please let me know.. When complete it will go onto this frame
  22. Hectic, that is going to be a nice project. Don't forget to show us what it looks like restored.
  23. Nice Kamaal, so when are you arranging for a group photo with all the Cape Town retro bikes. Apart from your stunning bikes it looks like you have the best locations and camera as well
  24. Got this set of Campagnolo Strada cranks with Sugino rings in a trade off with my bud Flashing Pedals. This is what they look like after Glenzito at our LBS gave them a buff with his magic machine
  25. No need to apologise, we can never get enough of looking at great looking bikes. That is an awesome bike.
