Hi All, I do a fair amount of riding around the suburbs for my morning rides and it used to be for commuting as well. During these rides i have started noticing more and more people who are commuting wearing helmets, but there is a still the vast majority not and you can generally tell by the bike its not by choice, but possibly because its money that could be better spent elsewhere. While i am very aware that an old helmet doesn't near provide the protection a new helmet does, it provides more than absolutely nothing. So the ask is, if you have a spare helmet that you are never going to wear, i would happily offer to collect/pay the postage, and donate it to one of the many people I see riding without one. Or, you could do the same. I meet the guys during the ride, arrange a time and generally meet them at the same place the next day, with the helmet. It really means you don't have a helmet sitting in the garage doing nothing, and someone has a helmet on their head which could provide some protection should anything happen. If you want to help out, drop me a PM and we can chat. The idea around this is to pay it forward to someone in need, with the hopes that they will do it to someone else, and that one day you may be on the receiving end, not matter what it may be.

My Old an and i had a competition to see who could build the cheapest commuter (15km each way). They both ended up being under 4k. 29er, suspension up front, full shimano 1x10, and lighter than my normal full suspension. If you have the time then buy the parts and build up something cool.

Yeah that has been done as i took a tubeless tyre off to test it. Those 'white' wall tyres have a weight limit that happens to be below me so i was exploring other options.

Hi Guys, My mate had his bike converted to tubeless when he bought and dropped the non-tubeless Maxxis Rekon's off with me to put on the commuter. In my boredom i decided to test it on my MTB as the tyre is a 2.4 and i have a boost frame. Without thinking that it was non-tubeless i put it on, bit of sunlight on the bead and it popped on fairly easily. But, as i was testing i didn't put any sealant in it. While the tyre is now flat, its still seated on the rim. It was leaking out the sides as seen by the bubbles being made. That's story time over, now the question. If i add sealant to this wheel and chuck some air in it am i going to be disappointed, or is there a small chance that this may work? Thanks in advance

You should go and do as many skids as you can to get those tyres looking like slicks, that should cut the noise ever so slightly.

Hi Guys, Quick one with with the APP. If we use the APP to record all our rides will that then reflect on the commuters challenge? Or will it only reflect commutes if we tell it to? I want to use it for my weekend rides but am concerned it will track on the challenge. Thanks,

You aren't lying about that. Now its just a case of adding more layers and getting back at it. This morning was a clear sign that winter is well on its way, 3deg low on the way in.

Saw the same guy. On the right hand side with a white frame? His frame didn't look broken though.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Rapide on their service. Ordered a shim from them at 9:33 this morning, at 3pm it had arrive at my office in JHB. Brilliant stuff from them. Will use and recommend them going forward.

I've started commuting from work to home. Straight route is 14km, but i throw in some dirt and a hill and it takes it up to 33km. Its quite awesome that before thr weekend has started i have over 100km on the bike already, it should make quite a difference to my fitness.

What time does it start on Friday? And from where? I'd like to join in for a very small section.

Maybe have a look at Silverback's as well. They seem to be really well spec'd for the price and they are 29'ers.
