  1. Don't need more children ... current one is enough of a handfull! This is a mid term solution. Arione is still bloody good saddle and I am curious RE the Gobi. The SDG saddle at least lets me walk properly after a ride VS the crappy one that you saw on my bike the otherday! Regards and thanks for your previous advice. Hairy
  2. In my eagerness to find a saddle I bought the SDG for 300Z.A.R as I could not wait for a planetX and I also have issues of not being able to hold something in my hands before buying it .... First ride on it this morning was pleasant although it still needs some fine tuning with placement. Will see how she fells later on this afternoons ride. Colour: Black with White trim and this works rather well with a black and white trim bike Regards Hairy
  3. Rather rebuild the back wheel with one of those adjustable hub jobbies ... this will give you the flexibility of fine tuning your chain tension and retaining the frame as is ... you can then also use the same wheel set on any other std drop out frame. Regards Hairy
  4. Why could life not be as simple as having to only find a colour that you like and making sure it works with the bike. I used the Arione for a short while and it felt good. So I am hoping that there are readers on this forum who have used both and could hopefully give comment accordingly. Regards Hairy
  5. I may have a good offer on a San Marco ASPide ... any experience with this?
  6. Thanks for the feedback. ... where can one get the saddle you are referring to? HL
  7. Thanks guys What sort of mileage do you do and what other saddles have you tried? HL
  8. Thanks ... I have better places to loose weight before I focus on the bike .. can pick it up for R250.00 new
  9. Has anybody have any experience with this saddle. Type of riding that I do is med - long hours in the saddle MTB rides. Regards Hairy

  12. Hi all Is anyone else having trouble loading up pics? HL
  13. In that area my first choice would be: Chris Willemse Cycles www.cwcycles.co.za E-mail: Info@cwcycles.co.za Tel nr: 021 914 7528 Fax nr: 021 914 7548 For Maintenance: Marks Bicycle Repairs Willie Engelbreght: Nice show room but just poor to average service from guys who look like they just don't want to serve you .... I know other guys again who say they get good service there though. Hairy
  14. Option C does make sense as I can assume you are not accustomed to MTB and especially technical or Single track riding .... and the Xterra will be technical ... especially if it is Grabouw. So accept that you will be walking a couple of sections. Good Luck and Enjoy ... welcome to dirt Hairy
  15. If you are not afraid to drop a few Z.A.R then Give Vermark a call. They have agents in CT and therefore should have some representatives up country. Oh you can also sent a spare set of kit this way Good Luck Hairy
  16. I was wandering the same thing RE the makes of bikes to be found at the Epic and following the morning spent at the Prologue I found the following. Spech Epics where all the rage. Just because it says Epic on the side does not mean you have to buy the bike for the Epic. A large Scott Spark component and yes Mr Tom Ritchey from Team Rawanda was riding one .... it is a Scott so obviously people will buy them in masses. The Giant Anthems where there, but not in the masses as one would expect. More Scalpels were to be seen than expected and they all really looked great. A pleasant surprise was the large number (Considering the "boutique" nature of the brand) of Yetis doing the rounds. The rest was just a sprinkling of most other brands. Regards Hairy (A Great Scott Rider)
  17. Dear Joe ... we MTB'ers ride on the side because we can. On many an occation you will also find a MTB rider passing a roadie from the dirt/dark side of the road. Try that MTB for the 4th time and accept you will fall that way you won't be upset when it does happen. So peace love and happiness to all you tree hugging, bunny cuddling, veggie eating hippies Regards Hairy
  18. So did you take his ice creams after he hit the curb ...

    Hi all

Hi Rory Do the only sane and intelligent thing. Keep the old road bike and buy a MTB ... preferably something with style, character and "just feels right" qualities. Like a Scott. Regards Hairy

    My SS

Thanks guys The chain tension just worked .. I guess I got lucky there. The spacing of the sprocket to get the chain aligned was achieved by breaking up old cassettes and using the plastic spacers. RE not knowing what I am doing ... this is true I left the yellow warning sticker on as a bit of twisted humour. I will be riding a Giant fully rigid SS afterall! Soooo.... if anyone has a set of brake levers lying about at home let me know! Hairy

    My SS

Hi all Please see below my SS MTB I have been building up from old parts and freebies from other riders. She is just about ready for the trails once I can lay my hands on a set of brake levers. The beauty of this project is that it has not cost me a cent to date to get it to this point! I will photo shop in a couch later as I know you guys/ladies are into that sort of thing! The wife was not keen when I wanted to pop in the bike on the leather couches at home Regards Hairy
  23. Sounds great ... mmm in fear of sounding like an idiot ... how far is Queenstown (Not Greenpoint) from Cape Town? Hairy
  24. Where will the ride be? Course conditions to be expected, will you be laying out large sums of money to market the event? Do you have an indication as to the number of people to expect or that you can cater for? There are so many factors that you need to consider to just break even on the event .... these should give clues to the costs. R70-R80 is fair in my mind for a smooth well run event .... don't go charging people more because you have decent prize money on hand. Rather invest more money on making it a well organized and supplied event that people will want to come back to in the years to come. Get the event to be sustainable in this way. Good luck and keep us posted please. Hairy
  25. A really good looking ride even if it is a spech. Have many hours of happiness on her! Hairy
