  1. I had the same issue once, my rear brain not engaging after one ride Went back to the shop, shock was sent back to Stellenbosch and a loan put on my bike, hardly an issue. Stuff like this happens, go to another shop where you will be taken seriously also the oil is of no concern, looks normal to me
  2. I had 11 speed xx1 on my bike, needed to replace and looked at cassette prices a couple of months ago and xx1 was not an option, an x01 cassette was R5k with Gx being +-R3k... I opted to buy off the classifieds seeing that everybody is upgrading to 12 speed,
  3. First pic was today, got home just as the rain started, Other two pics were from the past week
  4. Was too muddy for my regular ride so ended up exploring a bit
  5. Had a nice Sunday afternoon ride an easy 30km with 500m of ascent
  6. Had a nice 50km ride with 700m of climbing
  7. Like it, but how does it affect your frame warranty
  8. Ladysmith, really awesome riding to be had here, did a 50km with 700m of ascent
  9. Did a bit of exploring in KZN
  10. My seals were replaced an shocks serviced. Nothing was done to the bike. If this price is normal for a service then it costs about R18 per hour riding my bike. It also makes the Spez brain not that expensive to maintain.
  11. Thought it would be max R1k, If this is the price of a normal shock how much does a brain shock cost to service?
  12. Sent my Anthem in to have both shocks serviced. A Monarch an a Recon Gold. Service came to R1800.[emoji22] Not sure what was done asked but lbs still needs to let me know. Is this price normal for a shock service? This is my first shock service an if this is the price I might as well buy the tools an DIY.
  13. Started Daredevil last night and must say it's got my attention, it's a netflix show and the only reason I gave it a chance was because I really enjoyed House of Cards Netflix seems to make some quality shows, going to try Orange is the New Black after this I actually don't like other superhero shows like the CBS flash and arrow and was surprised how intriguing Daredevil is,
  14. I can't seem to upload my other pics
  15. My ride home from work on Friday,

  17. I posted this not to long ago, Please use the search function. I used a kit but if i had to do it again I would rather buy rim tape and sealant separately. It would work out alot cheaper
  18. I enjoy sampling craft beer. But my favorites are the Belgium beers. Duvel is by far one of the best. Also a big fan of Weiss beer. Other than craft beer I would opt for a Heineken. I don't like the lite beers.
  19. I was in the market for an Anthem 27.5 3 and was going to buy one the end of this month. Should I wait a bit and hopefully prices on the 2014 stock might drop or buy it? When would we see these bikes in shops?
  20. The point of this thread was not advice on what brand of bike to buy but rather to spark a debate on what type of bike. The anthem was just one bike that caught my eye. 100mm vs hard tail vs 150+ mm travel bikes... When i visited my LBS the first thing they asked me is what type of riding i do and I didn't know and then but after some google searches asked that same question here What I think I should have asked was what is the most fun or what is the most popular And please no downhill riding I think that is way too extreme..
  21. The climb faster and bike being lighter I inherited from road cycling and I see now that it might not be relevant for mtb-ing. Stage racing is something I would like to do in the future, a Sani2C or an Epic would be awesome and I want something now that I would be able to cycle various terrains with. There is just too much options and I admit I'm very confused...... I called a couple of shops now and the Anthem seems like a good deal, the normal price is R25k
  22. See guys the thing is I don't know what I type of riding I want to do. These are mainly assumptions I'm making from my research. My reasoning was that I get something that I could do a lot of different disciplines with and coming from a road cycling background spead, weight and climbing are just things I relate with. I live close to the Drakensberg so would probably do alot of riding there or in PMB and don't want to be limited or feel buyers remorse. Also is the price good? Cos i see in the Trance thread that you get a higher spec Trance for less.
  23. What would suit stage races? Trance or Anthem?
  24. Hi all, Need some advice or confirmation that I'm on the right track. So I started cycling last year some time with road cycling and did a couple of races. I did the Argus, the Tour of Durban and a bunch of smaller rides. I did about 1400km of cycling since the beginning of the year so I'm a regular weekend warrior. I've recently started looking at buying a mountain bike and it's a daunting task. It gets very confusing with AM, Enduro, XC, etc and then cross country not actually meaning crossing a country but riding a circular track. So I've done some research and think that a 100mm travel bike will suit the riding I want to do. My reasoning is that I want to be able to climb faster, do longer rides and have an overall lighter bike. I would also want to in future do some stage rides like Sani2C. Now come 6 months down the line and then I decide I like AM or Enduro will this 100mm bike be limited? Cos I've seen some youtube vids of guys going through some rough downhill stuff with just a hardtail. I then decided that I'll get myself the Giant Anthem 27.5 3. Went to a couple of shops and the best deal for this I could get is R23k. The shop will give me the bike plus do a tubeless conversion and throw in some pedals. Not sure which pedals, it's Shimano's at R900. Is this a good deal? and is my reasoning right?
