  1. Another +1 for Puricos. Changed my life - haven't had any gout symptoms in 10 years and can eat and drink what I want.
  2. On their facebook page it says the bike jacking was on the green route between Zevenwacht and Hazendal. The stone throwing was also on the green route on the new ST climb segment.
  3. Cape Town – Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects behind an attack on a father and daughter who were cycling in the Durbanville area at the weekend. The three assailants armed with knives made off with their cellphones and money. “A robbery case was registered for investigation after the complainant and his daughter were robbed of their cellphones and money. “According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday at about 8am when they were riding on their bicycles. They were confronted by knife-wielding suspects who threatened and robbed them. The suspects fled the scene when two vehicles stopped to assist the victims.” A local security company warned residents following the incident. “Three men with knives appeared out of nowhere on the back road to Joostenbergvlakte (close to Fisantekraal) and robbed them of their cellphones. Luckily, a truck with farmers came to their rescue and scared off the men.” The company said that at this time of year runners and cyclists were targeted by criminals as they were spending hours on the road training for major events happening in the next few months. “There have been several attacks the past few weeks, not only in Durbanville and surrounds, but Gordon’s Bay and Somerset West as well.” The company advised runners and joggers not to make use of earphones, to try to gather as many friends as possible, to arm themselves with a Tazer or pepper spray, not to carry valuables and to stay on main roads. https://www.iol.co.za/capetimes/news/hunt-for-armed-suspects-who-attacked-father-daughter-cycling-18997176
  4. Sorry for the Afrikaans - another Joostenbergvlakte attack, and to think I did the Bottelary/Koelenhof/silos loop that same time: https://www.netwerk24.com/Nuus/Misdaad/plaaswerkers-soos-engele-wat-fietsryers-red-20190128
  5. I got one recently and I'm not impressed. I tested it once while doing Cadence training on a stationary bike - average HR according to the chest strap was 160 bpm, according to Vivosmart the average was only 99 bpm. At times the two readings corresponded exactly, but then the Vivosmart seems to "lose signal" and just showed a steady 80 - 90 while the chest strap still showed 160+. It may be that my veins are too deep for the optic sensor to work properly, but I'm disappointed.
  6. http://i65.tinypic.com/3132937.jpg Entry-level 901, but it got me cycling!
  7. I was also looking for the map just last week. The only one I could find was at http://www.onsgenot.com/bottelaryhills.htm. But I'm no Google ninja either...
  8. Thanks, Dirtman!
  9. At last some semblance of normality! I'm a complete noob to MTB and had my first outing at BH over the weekend. I had to push the bike for most of the Kaapzicht Killer... Quick question - I don't have the skills for the Rooikat ST yet - is there a way to rejoin the route afterwards or do I head back down the same way I came up?
