  1. A few questions on the new Vitality rules for next year. Can one get an Apple Watch and Device booster at the same time? If you have a few months into the new year to pay off complete the current Shoe booster (and or Apple Watch booster) can one still get one of the other boosts before that period ends? Lastly if we have a family Vitality plan why can only 1 adult get 1 of these benefits and not both my wife and I at the same time?
  2. Beautiful machine!
  3. I feel so inadequete. Unbelievable skill and talent.
  4. Why don't you have a flash Christmas sale on this for us? BTW if there no upgrade kit with just the shifters and front and rear derailers available? (batteries, charger and USB incl)
  5. Unbelievably beautiful bike.
  6. Looks like an awesome event and well organized. Wish I was in CT for it.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. You think one can show up on race day and ride or have to stay over the night?
  8. I was keen to do it but have become soft and not keen on doing technical races. Is this quite technical with rock gardens, switchbacks and river crossings?
  9. Holly smokes. Can you imagine the wage bill? You need some serious sponsors to keep you going.
  10. Basically what I predicted the team to be barring Berhane over Jaco. I think based on the skills and who we signed it is a pretty good team. I really hope Cav delivers and does not take support (Bernie and Renshaw) away from EBH as I think he is in the form of his life and is a better than Cav right now. Daniel will push for early stage Polka dot jersey. Serge will be the most aggresive rider we have and Renie will be the worker. Cummings will target one stage win. Would love to have see Louis in this side. He is maturing nicely. Lampre don't look a good squad. DD seem far better on paper and the Procycling stats to date.
  11. Really great squad. I hope to goodness Tyler Farrar does not go. He seriously is poor. It would have been awesome if we still had Louis, I can see a top 10 finish for him this year. You have to think Daniel, Serge and Steve guarantee their places based on last year. They also all in good form. EBH has to go based on form. Cav must have been promised the race which means Renshaw goes as well. I am sure Bernie was made that promise as well. That leaves 2 spots left for the other 4 Africans. I think Youcef misses out for sure and probably Natnael. So it will be between the 2 van Rensburg's as Doug probably wants to take the SA winner to the Tour.
  12. Myles you have been a legend on this thread. I did not want to add to your workload but I have a few questions which I thought I would ask. I am not sure if they are covered earlier but the thread is so long it is almost impossible to search for. 1. Do you no longer get a discount with the Discovery Credit Card at Pick n Pay when shopping for groceries? 2. If one has selected Pick n Pay as the primary Healthy Food benifit how does one get the lower discount for Woolworths food as the HealthyFood "card" is loaded onto the Smartshopper card? Do we then swipe the Smart Shopper card at Woolworths for the HealthyFood benifit (I understand no SmartShopper points will be earned at Woolies). 3. If we make a purchase at Dischem or Sportsmanwarehouse and use the HealthyCare or HealthyGear cards do we have to pay with the DiscoveryCard to get the benifit? 4. Do you get reimbursed the money for your gym fees if you make your weekly goals no matter whether you do them in the gym or road running/cycling etc as long as you make your rolling 36 visits? Do they reimburse you for the entire Classic gym Vitality subsidised rate or just the maximum of the premier membership? It seems as though the discounts and benefits for the DiscoveryCard are drastically cut back with the loss of some retail partners. I thought I knew Vitality well but there is a definitely a new level of complexity now but if used well the benefits can be substantial.
  13. Myles if one is a Vitality member do you think it is worth getting Multiplier as well if you have 1 policy with Momentum and all your other policies and medical aid and life with Discovery? I was perked by the free Cycle Lab benifit and other tidbits like Mango Kulula barely fly DBN-CT) flight discounts etc. Can you for example do 1 test at Dischem for your wellness screening that is valid for Discovery and Momentum at the same time? They seem to mimic each other in so many ways - makes sense due to 1st Rand background - if one is with both you can do 1 fitness test, 1 health check etc and get points for both would be nice. What are your thoughts on Liberty's rewards programme? They seem like laggards.
  14. What a legend of a summary. I think every broker needs to cut and paste. Just a question though: Will the gym structure of payments/discounts affect all members or just new members to Vitality? Older members get 100% off gym now for a single club as long as you go 36 times but I think newer members get up to 80%.
  15. They had a small stand at Amashova too but no massages. Had the Woolies food, chocolate milk etc. BTW do you need to wear a Team Vitality shirt to enter the hospitality area or as long as you are a paid up member. I think I have challenges finding Team Vitality hospitality, even at the CTCC I could not find them this year. Sadly I may not renew next year as I am not seeing top value with it as I only do road races now and with 50% back on CTCC, Shova and 94.7 dont think it is worth it as the vouchers are useless to me.
  16. Did anyone find and go to the Team Vitality hospitality at the 94.7? I could not find it. Went to Cycle Lab, that was an awesome setup. Took good care of customers.
  17. Does anyone know how much it will be for a renewing member for Team Vitality Cycling option for next year or will it be the same as a new member and they give you another shirt etc? Will this years one be valid till March next year as it only got going at the end of Feb this year if memory serves me right? I wonder how they choose which events to give you cash back or and which are 50% or 25%. It seems like some big races sponosred by other insurance companies either get no cash back or just 25% like the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour by Liberty.
  18. Are people around the country also seeing Vida Caffe's closing down? They seem to be going out of business in greater Durban. Gateway store closed down, the one at SMG Rocks in Umhalnga is now changed to something else and the original one in Umhlanga is no longer there. They did open a new one at La Lucia mall not long ago but that is the only one around other than the one at the Square and the one in the Shell garage at Pick n Pay Hypermarket DBN North but the free drinks not valid at garages.
  19. Peanut butter bomb. Most expensive as well... R40 for a small seems insane if it were not for free. I saw on mybroadband it is the most unhealthtiest item at Kauai. Makes no sense that Discovery would condone it.
  20. I think the pros outweight the cons. Definately a world star which grabs the headlines. Lets hope he is not on the downward spiral now. Renshaw is an awesome leadout man. I wonder if he can help Edvald. I rate Edvald, he is a serious sprinter with a great future. How many years left on his Qhubeka contract?
  21. It is terrible to read the comments from both sides on this topic. It really shows the worst of humanity. I think both sides are right/wrong/insensitive. I am riding my 2nd Argus after a 9 year hiatus and am in great shape after tramendous training and dieting and was excited to get a good time and test myself on the route. I am also flying down from Durban with my wife and kids and incurring great costs which I could have deffered to the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour for the end of the year if I knew beforehand that the race will be shortened. BUT I understand that this is an unplanned disaster of huge proportions and we need to be understanding and compassionate. People have lost a lot and suffered even if they have insurance. I think the key issue is the route is still unsafe with fires that can flare up at any point. On the other hand I think the CTCC could have had a better back up plan for a non-penninsula route. This is a huge tourist event for Cape Town that brings in millions of Rands and riders should be accomodated even if it causes an inconvenience for one day as people know it is once a year to hold the world largest timed cycle race which holds global appeal. At the end of the day the decision is made and we must be supportive of the firefighters, volunteers and those affected and enjoy the ride that is on offer. Hopefully the CTCC learn from this as fires in the Cape during these windy dry summers is almost an annual event. I remember 9 years ago when someone dropped a cigarette and there was a massive fire on Table Mountain that lasted for days.
  22. I think Discovery felt they needed a differentiator in the market and rushed this product. Possibly Momentum have a competing product that will launch soon. I have always felt that Vitality with its link to their credit card and life insurance etc has been a superior product to the rest of the market but I look at Momentum these days and there involvement in Cycling and Golf and it really makes me think twice about Discovery. Even Liberty have a good rewards programme that in many ways is better than Discovery. Discovery have the numbers but things can change pretty fast if people see a better value proposition elsewhere.
  23. I agree with you. I think Discovery need to communicate better and explain to us why they have pulled back on the number of races etc. It is always better to under promise and over deliver and definately not the other way around like this. I am shocked they have so few MTB races (single day) as the growth in cycling is in MTB. I wonder what will happen to those that have already paid for the Serengeti race as well as the Argus etc. How do we get reimbursed if we sign up for Team Vitality?
  24. I like the idea and kudos to Discovery for introducing the idea. They have truly changed the world with regards to behavioral economics and using the carrot approach to incentivize people to make healthy choices. I am sure this must be a logistical challenge to manage to incorporate all these races into the programme. Saying that I wonder if this is a stepping stone from which they can add more races and improve the programme. They should partner with Roag and Cycleevents etc to add all their listed races on the programme, it could be a seemless process and add value to members. I I wonder what the value proposition will be in year two and three if in theory one bought a helmet, Garmin, glasses and have the jersey in year 1 then in the subsequent years one does not need many other items.
  25. Are there any GPS apps out there that let you upload a GPX file so that it can guide you along MTB routes when you are in new areas? Lots of MTB places have GPX files one can get from their websites which can be uploaded to a Garmin but can this be done on an iPhone apps?
