  1. rotate your chains, will slow down the wear and tear on your cluster and drivetrain. Use the chain measuring tool religiously!! I learnt the expensive way.

  6. I been told to go for the Ryder...apparantly they are cheapest on the market and long way from being "cheap and nasty"..

  8. Easy - they are not made by the local utility provider. And apparently they last 6 times longer - sort of like you and I when compared to a matric laaitie. just so long as they/you not past sell by/use by date..cos then you cant even charge up.... running now...
  9. The batteries always went flat too quickly!!
  10. Mine is simple...if I dont ride..I climb the walls and am shocking company! So to me riding and training is keeping me sane.

    Im in the Champagne Valley area..between Bergville and Winterton...Clarens is about 180km from us..they form part of the Maluti Mountain Range if im not mistaken.

    Im in the Central Drakensberg and its 33 degrees (so my car tells me) and the wind is hot berg wind causing fires all over the place!! I hate this time of the year...

  15. Just read thru this and need some help.. I ride in very very thorny area (berg and bush area for those that have done the race) but then also do a lot of mountain trails with lot of rocks... I need to do the conversion..ive had enough of punctures. I have mountain king tyres with tubes and slime at present... what would you guys suggest as the tyre to put on..cos I need to phone my lbs and make sure they order them for me and what else should I tell them I need??? Or do I just drop the bike and say "convert" How will I know they converting to the right thing??

  22. Im hoping that the 3 riders aka "the Ol tops" are registered on this forum. On Sunday at the Glen Garry race..i had a puncture couple km's from the end..2nd punct so had no spare tube..thanks for stopping and helping and restoring my sense of humour!! I looked for you guys at the finish but didnt find you...and everyone looks so different with big jackets on and off their bikes.. If you are on this forum..Pete and your 2 friends..I am really, really grateful to you. If you ever in my area..please let me know.. p.s...I DIDNT giggle when I past you..
