  1. Two Oceans race report Expo Was decent enough although not a fan of green point basement, prefer an big open expo centre like CICT from back in the day. Felt a bit closterphobic and didn't want to hang around at the expo to long. Race Weather was perfect almost no wind but maybe a bit warm, luckily finished before the real heat hit. Support was amazing the entire route by far my favourite road race. Water points were good except the cups I prefer the plasic sachets so I can carry along and drink when I want but makes sense from a litter point of view. The water point from Hout Bay to Constanssia neck is way to far, think its like 4/5 km and while doing a hill tired everyone was moaning (Same happend last year not sure what the officials are thinking). The road management in Fish hoek was also not great as they had barriers creating a bottleneck and then cones in the middle so saw about 4-5 people fall. Overall amazing experience, amazing city and amazing race. Will definately be back next year with a bit more training (500km from start of the year to race is just a little light if you really want to enjoy the last 10km) as the support is constant espcially the last 5km.
  2. Anyone have a recommendation for a good sport podiatrist in PTA ? Need new inners, Thanks
  3. Guess the price is great but I want to try on a shoe before droping a few grand without any idea of how it fits. I have a pair of NovaBlast 5's and Gel Nimbus 26 I use for base and long runs but looking for a tempo / 5-21km race shoe. Really want the superblast but man its expensive.
  4. Not familiar with the brand and paying R3k for seems expesnive although cheap compared to copetators. I am looking for Magix Speed 3 on sale somwehere but might give this a go if I have no luck
  5. Ballpark around 600-800km, have done with more or less but I would recommend around there. Assume you will need to qualify so aim for a marathon mid Feb, I usually aim around 30-40km a week start Jan and then add 5km per week from there trying to peak around 60-70km a week for a while. Two oceans has its own decent training guides. https://www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/ttom2024-training-guide/
  6. Looking for a 56km substitute entrey for Two Oceans if anyone has one.

Hey Guys Finally got my bike back, a couple of newbie questions: 1. What is the pink sediment coming out the fork ? 2. Want to change the wheels & tyres to 28" and add tri bars, assume the system will still work ? 3. Any other upgrades besides tri-bars you guys would recommend for an half ironman ?

Yeah they are new but feels like gears slide a bit when chaning, also not an expert but when I serviced the bike the guy told me they are compatible but not ideal.

Yeah went with a road bike - Bought a 2nd hand Merida Scultura 400. Just want to repalce the wheels to 28", then add try bars and I am running a 2x10 105 with Dura ace shifters, think i want to sell teh Dura Ace Shifets and maybe just get 105 shifters so everything talks to each other. Will probably also buy tri bars just looking to build the best value bike for speed without breaking the bank

Hey guys so Mosselbaai 70.3 went relatively well except for the bike leg on which I had some mechanical issues combined with probably not training enough. Definately need to improve my cyciling and want to upgrade my bike to the best value for money option. Looking at the following changes 1. Need to get tri-bars 2. Does chanding between 28 and 25 thick wheels make the ride softer ? 3. Is there a big difference between road and mtb cleats on a road bike, power wise ? Thanks

Yeah fair enough points, I have free accomodation and doing it with a group of mates mainly social and not to worried about my time. I do have a duel suspension but agreed will probably waste a lot of energy even with locked suspenion. Will have a look online as I guess buying a 2nd hand road bike is probably safer than a mountain bike anyway.

Ahh I see Mountain bikes are now allowed, wan't the case back in the day. Think my mountain bike is probably around 14kg,s so with slicks I am probably gona be carrying an extra 4kg. Also have a 1x12 group set any have experience with how big a difference this will make compared to a road bike ?

Hey all doing the Half Ironman in Mosse bay end of the year and just want some general recommendations. (I did one about 8 years ago but didn't have a watch or correct gear so hopefully this one goes better) 1. Road Bike - What are the min specs on looks for in a decent bike ? Rememebr it was Shimano 105 back in the day? Also not sure if I should rent a bike or buy a new one/2nd hand and sell after the half ironman? (Currenly have a mountain bike and doubt my wife will let me have 2 bikes and road biking also not really my game) 2. Tri-Suit - Last time I just changed clothes after each dicipline but might look at a tri-suit this time. Any recommendations for a decent tri-suit ? Thanks
  22. Ahh thanks good point but I have heard you can atleast use them till the child is 4 so atleast it's a good long term additional pram. Ideally want to use it for running to give the wife a break every now and then but yeah might end up not running as mush as I think on paper
  23. Hey guys anyone have expereince with running strollers ? Happy to go with Thule Glide 2 just not sure if there are any alternatives or recommendations out there ? Thanks
  24. Get to a doctor or physio asap, there are lots of excerices and stretching that can resolve teh issue. I usually do barefoor speed work on a grass field once or twice a month and never had and injuries. Physios can also help with alternatives to stay fit in the down time, increasing core strenth and wattbike are great alternatives when not running
  25. Anyone have the seeding cart for the two oceans last year ?
