  1. Gillian, Michelle and Nigel got to London last night at 21:22BST, covering 1400km in just over 109 hours. Walkerr got to London this morning at 0125 BST, covering the 1400km in just over 115 hours. Congratulations to all on your tremendous achievement!
  2. Respect, Dawdle. What was it like?
  3. Awesome news! You gotta get him to write a race report :-)
  4. Yikes. Sounds painful. I have a sense that us larger cyclists suffer more in this department on longer rides. Still, champion effort! Girls just got to St. Ives. 100clicks to go in 14 hours. Should be fine. Nigel not far behind. Hopefield should be crossing the line shortly. Walker last seen at Kirkton, should almost be at St. Ives.
  5. Very sad about this. Do you have details?
  6. Agree with Underachiever. Strange things happen when you are sleep deprived. On a 600 I battle to average 20km/h. The longer you ride without proper sleep the slower you get. A 10km stretch that you breeze through when you're fresh can seem interminable. The best ultradistance cyclists in the world battle to maintain 25 km/h on RAAM. For us mere mortals 10-15km/h over these distances is often how it plays out.
  7. Information coming in that Gillian picked up an injury on day two, crossing the Pennines and has been in severe pain ever since. Yesterday was apparently most challenging with headwinds and driving rain through Yorkshire. Gillian is showing great courage by carrying on. Apparently today is forecast fine and clear. Hopefully they should now be 150km from the finish. The cutoff is at 2am tonight, so they're still on to finish.
  8. Yeah, sure they're hurting a whole bunch now :-( Finish is close.
  9. Day 5 of LEL. Gray was last seen at Market Rasen, 1195km, last night at 2000. 205km from London. Critcher and Gahan got to Market Rasen at 1925 last night. Hopefield got to Kirton, 1219km last night at 2226GMT Walkerr got to Market Rasen at 2338 last night. With less than 200km and a day to do it in, they should all finish. After four days and 1200km, its taking them over 8 hours to do a 100km. Vasbyt, my friends. Almost done!
  10. Cut-off is 116 hours after riders' start time, between 630 and 830 tomorrow, 2nd August.
  11. Our brave Randonneurs are now back in England. They've been on the road for 72 hours, are now doing between 13 and 15 km/h, and have ridden between 850 and 1000km.
  12. Nice. Doing the EPR and 200 on consecutive days sounds like perfect preparation for the 300 ;-)
  13. Think I saw you at 3 Rivers. Will catch you next time :-)I was in Gerolsteiner jersey on black Cannondale. U riding next month?
  14. Hopefield got to Moffat at 1900 GMT, 620km in and 80km from halfway mark in Edinburgh. Critcher and Gahan about two hours behind. Cox and Cox en route to Moffat.
  15. 20 riders set off. Cruised for most of it in a two man group. Wind and Impala/Butcher's was a nasty sting in the tail.
  16. Too right. Cruised to Heidelburg in super quick time. After this the wind tried to blow us back from whence we came. Climbing Impala and Butcher's at the end with 180km in our legs was a nice touch. Sorry to not have made your acquaintance yesterday, Crasher. What kit were you in?
  17. Guys got into Thirsk, 400km mark, between 7:25 and 8:58 this morning, averaging roughly 16.5 to 17km/h. Probably slept for a bit last night.
  18. London-Edinburgh-London is Britain's longest and toughest cycling event, taking place as it does over 1400km. Audax rules apply, so riders have a maximum time of 116h40 and a minimum time of 46h40 to finish. The event is unsupported. Latest updates: Critcher and Gahan covered 325km in 13h15 reaching the Pocklington checkpoint at 2315 GMT last night. Cox and Cox covered the same distance in 13h24.
  19. Thanks, Ostrich. Do you know their race numbers? Following the Jozi riders on the LEL site.
  20. Sure are. At least four riders from Jozi, including arguably our two finest ultradistance lady cyclists: Michelle Gahan and Gillian Critcher. One or two from Cape Town. One Hubber, Walkerr?
  21. Nice. See you Sunday :-)
  22. You an' all, mate.
  23. A big number! Well done, sir.
  24. Sorry I missed it. What was your total ascent?
  25. Yip., Salisbury House. How was the new route?
