  1. Hi Guys We now have a group of 50 plus cyclists who would like to be refunded. Please join the group and add your details to the Google Forms link if you’d like a refund. Did you enter the Tshwane Classic 2022? Would you like a refund ? I With this in mind, I am compiling a list of all entrants who wish to be refunded so we can take the process forward. For now, please join the group, I will keep you informed of progress with the matter and would also like your name for an open letter to Hectic Promotions from their customers which will be disseminated publicly stating our case and humbly requesting that we are refunded. Here is the link to the list of people who would like a refund. Please enter your details here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdHMAiLIyATY50q-BxQI0tFTtH1_QP3acqkh08JwZ10FZ9ZfA/viewform?usp=sf_link https://chat.whatsapp.com/JcdwluIu2tV00JzfiOcQbq https://www.iol.co.za/pretoria-news/news/cyclists-dejected-by-11th-hour-tshwane-classic-bicycle-race-postponement-bbceb592-6d6a-4310-ab45-0fe61bce3604
  2. I have mailed the organizers asking for a full refund. The issue here is that you cannot get clients to waive their CPA rights by signing contracts. It is difficult to contest because it is unlikely that anyone will contemplate defending their CPA rights over R400. Some organizers try to get around this by stating that if the event is cancelled on the day as a result of health and safety issues then they will not refund you. This is contrary to the spirit of the CPA which is not interested in WHY the event was cancelled, only that consumers are protected from paying for goods and services and then not receiving them, whatever that reason may be. My interpretation is that we are legally entitled to a refund, whatever the organizers say. This relates specifically to protection afforded to South African consumers by the CPA. Think about it. They organized and advertised an event that they then cancelled three hours before the start. There were no storms, snow, fires, Russian missiles, etc. In my opinion the only reason they didn’t proceed is that it was a speculative exercise where they probably decided to not go ahead if they didn’t have the numbers. This is not on. You cannot takes money from over 1000? people under such circumstances and glibly refuse refunds because you didn’t get sufficient numbers. Let’s not kid ourselves about the postponed event. The reputational damage sustained will put paid to anyone being interested in Tshwane Classic 2022: The Sequel 😱
  3. I'm keen. It won't be easy though, as I will have to negotiate my way around the recently decreed, and somewhat heavy-handed (IMHO) "no bikes on holiday" ban from 26-31/12 ????

Lucky you. When we got there, there was only warmish water. A penalty for a poor performance?

That is scary stuff. We know we're not meant to ride when sick, but don't always feel sick. Glad you're okay.

Thanks, Mate. See you at the next one.

Started in CL. Got into a decent bunch at the end if the neutral zone. Very tough day. Feeling mangled today. Got to 90km in 3 hours. Took 39 minutes to do the last 12km after blowing spectacularly :-0 3 things I learnt from yesterday: 1. Not eating on the bike for 102km is a bad idea. One small bidon of water is not enough. 2. The only way to prepare for riding fast is riding fast. Over the last year, work and sickness has eaten up my meagre training programme. 3. The entry fee did not include a cold drink at the finish.

Congrats! Good time for a first ride.

Yip. Will be something to tell the grand kids. "Back in the day, groups of us used to ride our bikes on tar, with cars all around!" "Really, Grandad! That must have been a long time ago." ;-)

Entered. Judging by the entries to the Carousel recently, it looks like road riding is dying a rather public death.
  11. Crikey Been sick since mid June. Three courses of antibiotics and sinuses still infected. Going to ENT this week to hopefully stop the bugs for good this time. Training has been patchy. Missed two events. Longing to be fit again.
  12. Entered. Coming back from being sick. How many people are doing this? Event got panned last year.
  13. Come on, Underachiever. Should be a mild winter day. Besides, we need you to power the bunch ;-)
  14. I'm in. All things Audax appear on the Aurasan 2014 thread. I've just posted to it.
  15. Also started in Al. Got blown out of the bunch in first 10km. Crazy fast start (for me). Soloed for a bit and then got into a group of stragglers. Cruised to 90km, before blowing. Tough day. Will be back.
  16. I'm in. Flat and fast equals my favourite event of the year.
  17. Awesome riding today. Nasty crash in AL on the M7 about 30km out. There was a gully about 50mm wide separating the lanes. One of the bunch went down, then the rider on his wheel also hit the deck. Pity it wasn't marked. Hope it wasn't too serious. Top marks to the organizers. Will mos def be back.
  18. AL. Looking forward to my first ToD!
  19. Three wins for Gilbert! Nice to see him finding form again after a rough time in 2013. Bring on Flèche Wallone!
  20. Thanks for the fantastic effort J.P! It really adds a lot to these events having Road Rangers involved. I started in BL, but got debunched in the neutral zone. Formed a group of 8 and got caught by CL just outside Springs. The section from Sunward Park on Rondebult was filled with cars. Our bike marshalls guided us through the mayhem. Hope to see you Guys at the next one.
  21. 36 clicks to go. Gap between Boonen's group and the chasing group (Cancellara) is 25 secs and closing.
  22. Nice pics. Can't wait!
