  1. So what did they do to change your mind? I seem to have a love-hate relationship with the brand. Some of their cheaper stuff have lasted me since forever, but there often seem to be some minor quality issues with the more expensive things. Not enough to want to go through the warranty (sitting without the product) process, but enough to make me think twice when it comes to replacing items.
  2. Have worn both at some stage. The POC is very comfy, though a bit on the larger size in terms of form factor. The Leatt is a bit smaller, but can be a bit hot on warmer days. If I had to choose I would go for the Leatt due to bang for buck. Just stay away from the DBX3.0 Enduro. Had to replace one of them 4 times due to the clasps fixing the chinbar to the helmet breaking.
  3. At risk of being lambasted - am I missing something? I would absolutely love to do something like this next week, but could you please explain how this is "100% above board"?
  4. It is quite interesting to see how passionate people become over what they believe is the "right" thing to do with regards to all the regulations, whether well-intended or ill-planned. Say now, for instance, in a hypothetical/fantasy turn of events the current government gives up and downs tools and repeal all the pandemic-related regulations all at once and we return to status quo, what would all the experts on the Hub propose as regulations to keep as many people as possible alive, healthy, employed or enabled to earn a liveable income and content? I am not saying that the current ones are correct, sensible or even logical. I honestly would like to know what those against (or for) some of the regulations would propose as alternatives. I assume many peeps on here have by now finished reading the internet with all the time available during lockdown, so the suggestions should be based on fact and research. Maybe we could forward the best proposals to the upper echelons of our leaders and try to give sight to some of those leading the rest of the blind...
  5. Did you really think that in good ol' RSA anybody is giving a sh*t about anyone else around them anyway?
  6. Do whatever you want with regards to wearing a mask when intended to protect others. But if you prefer not to, please stick to your guns when you come and see me at work and you end up next to the person riddled with Covid-19 who is gulping for air with every rushed breath. Don't then demand to wear a mask all of a sudden. Because we won't have enough to go around very very soon.
  7. So those are the only reasons you feel it is necessary to wear a mask?
  8. I totally agree with you, and I generally accept that life was never designed with fairness in mind. I am interested in people's opinions on this and wanted to highlight some potential points of view. We all experience life from different angles, as following heated discussions on various different topics on the Hub has taught me. I am curious though whether 4+ weeks of lockdown has changed the way people think.
  9. With various opinions on what is considered "illegal" in terms of current outdoor cycling activities, ranging from people feeling it is OK to still ride your bike alone out in the sticks (as long as you don't post publicly about it on Strava) to others feeling that it is not in the spirit of the law cycling in your own backyard during lockdown, what do you all think about local pros/celebrities still currently riding on private land and posting it on social media? And with "private land" I am not referring to a backyard, but rather to privately-owned MTB trails. And it weren't throwback posts either. I am not going to post names as this is not a blaming exercise, but rather a question about opinion. As an essential worker still going to work and being fortunate enough to commute on a bike for this reason (no, I do not own a car), I have been shouted at, stopped by law enforcement, objects thrown at me and this morning purposefully pushed off the road by a motorist for having the "entitlement" of being on a bicycle during lockdown. Even though I'm obviously dressed for work and not "out for a ride". I personally feel like I am on the receiving end of a virtual middle-finger salute from these pros still riding and boasting on social media whilst I am risking my and my family's health by having to do the type of work I do and now also risking my safety cycling to and from work. Am I entitled? Or just too over-sensitive and need to HTFU about the life being generally unfair? Or do I have a point? All opinions welcome - knowing the Hub I'll probably need to invest in flame-retardant apparel
  10. This thread (and its predecessors) tend to go around in circles. I think it has been well established that everybody are appreciative of the fantastic job done by Patrick & team, and by proxy the club committee, and that those who like more mellow trails' needs are being catered for. There is no denying that. But it seems that the minority who are asking for a openminded discussion about the possibility of adding more tech trails in future builds (not making current trails more difficult and taking away from the majority) are getting increasingly frustrated as they are being ignored, or seemingly actively opposed. They are not advocating against the current awesome existing trails, but to add to the network some extra trails where you need to bring your bigboy pants if you want to ride them. And again, nobody would be forced to ride these trails either. But the option to choose should exist.
  11. I am sure you probably did not intend it this way, but statements like these would be similar to saying "Thank you, City of CT/Joburg/Dbn, I am quite comfy riding my car to work, so you really don't need to bother with cycle/bus lanes for anybody else who prefer a different way of travel. Because when I am satisfied and happy, who cares about anybody else...?" Saffers are so used to think only about "me and mine" that we don't even realise how we mess things up for somebody else who might prefer a different flavour. Look around, by far the biggest problem breaking our beautiful country apart in recent times. What's wrong with adding some technical flavour to all the great stuff that's already there? If you don't feel like riding it now, you may change your mind in a year or two when you see somebody previously a noob now hollering and whooping for mastering "that tricky bit"...
  12. Does anybody have any experience with JBL Reflect Flow's? Have been considering these as an alternative to the Jabra Elites.
  13. You are a breath of fresh air, Sir! You found out you did something wrong (although unknowingly and unintentionally), owned up to it and made a commitment to change. We all make mistakes, but the current trend seems to rather than acknowledge and move on, to be an entitled box about it. Finding this a lot in our sport with rogue riders of late... I like you!
  14. A lesson I've learned from life (and maybe the odd ill-chosen website): Not long after someone feels they're being screwed the moaning usually ensues...
