  1. I am 190 cm and ride an XL frame Titan Carbon Cypher Pro RS. I initially looked at a L frame and took it for a test ride. It was clearly too small and I opted for an XL frame, which the bike shop sourced for comparison. I would think that you need to test ride a L frame and then make a decision, based on how you feel on the bike. On your choice of brand, I can only say that I will never ride anything other than a Titan bike. The after sales service and support was out of the top drawer, and for value for money, you cannot go wrong with the component mix. Best value for money brand on the market by far. The 5 year multi-user warranty also tells you that the brand is super confident of the quality of their frames. and their their product.. I have upgraded the original spec 100 mm fork and shock to 120 mm of travel, and I now have a dream bike. Wishing you many hours of fun on your new bike. Please post a pic when you get it.
  2. Hi Dylan, I am a huge fan of the Titan product, so I may be a bit biased. I do not know the range of Signal bikes, and have never owned or ridden one. I ride a full suspension carbon bike from Titan, and have been treated unbelievably well, in terms of after sales service. A warranty on the frame, is also something which should be important to everyone who is buying a new mountain bike. Titan offer a 5 year multi-user warranty, and I have recently had a frame and rear triangle replaced under warranty, by Titan, with no questions asked. Whilst the frame set was been replaced, Titan loaned me a bike to ride. I can only say that my bike offers exceptional value for money in terms of the component mix, in comparison to the price points of other bikes with the same or similar components, and carbon frame sets. I feel that you cannot go wrong if you were to purchase the Titan product, which you are considering, as it has a better component mix than the Signal product. I am however not knocking the Signal product, as I am interested to see that they intend releasing a full suspension bike in the next 3 months. Their full suspension prototype was raised at the ABSA Cape Epic, and the riders either finish top of their class or near the top. It is good to see that two local brands are offering affordable options to local consumers. You will sleep easy, if you purchase the Titan product, and will get a huge amount of enjoyment from this product. Once again my 2 c worth.
  3. Good afternoon all, I have been following this thread and have contributed to it, from time-to-time. I purchased a new 2020 Titan Cypher Pro RS, which has given me thousands of hours of wonderful enjoyment (and sometimes very painful quads). I can say without any hesitation that my bike is one of the best value for money bikes on the market, having regard to the component mix, from the carbon bars to the carbon hoops; the SRAM GX drivetrain and pretty decent front fork, rear shock, and brakes. My only regret is that I did not purchase the Cypher Pro, which came equipped with a 120 mm fork, as I am a burly (read not fat) rider. I am in the process of attempting to source a 120 mm -130 mm fork which will complete the package. I can only positively comment on the after sales service, which I have received from Carlo of Titan/Merida, which epitomizes the levels of client, and after sales service, which I have experienced. I do not regret my purchase, for one moment, and trust that a lot of fellow riders who have been fortunate to purchase a Titan product, would agree with me in this regard. It has unfortunately been necessary for me to have my frame replaced under warranty on two occasions. I am grateful that the brand offers a 5 year warranty replacement policy to the initial purchaser, on condition that the bike is registered on the website. No questions whatsoever were asked, when the frames were returned and the process of receiving the initial replacement frame was painless, and took a few days. The frame was collected from my local bike shop are delivered to them, shortly after notification of the frame issue. Unfortunately, the second frame wore in an area near the yoke on the rear suspension, and once again Titan have honoured the warranty policy. They are also replacing the carbon rear triangle, with a brand-new triangle, although this was not damaged as well as providing me with a new yoke and rear suspension collar, in order to ensure my complete satisfaction. In addition to this, they have furnished me with an almost brand-new loan bike to use whilst they build up the new frame and rear triangle. How many other brands can boast about doing this? I read with interest the horror stories of other riders who have struggled for months, and sometimes unsuccessfully to have frames replaced under warranty. My experience has been the complete opposite. I was not familiar with the Titan brand, before purchasing my bike, but did a fair amount of research before pulling the trigger. I previously used to ride a carbon fibre SPEZ, and was horrified at the costs of servicing the fork and shock. I believe that credit needs to be given to manufacturers/brands, which go beyond the call of duty to ensure that a customer is completely satisfied with his/her purchase. This has been my experience with Titan, and I can only recommend the brand to anybody who is considering purchasing a new bike. When you purchase a Titan product, you enjoy peace of mind by buying a well-designed and incredibly well supported product in terms of after sales service. I'm not a brand ambassador for Titan, and I don't need to plug their products. There are too few positive posts about complete customer satisfaction on the Hub, but plenty of negative posts, in this regard. I have no intention to ever choosing another brand, due to the manner in which I have been treated. Whilst on the topic of customer satisfaction. I would like to give a huge shout out to Chris Nixon and his crew at the Constantia Uitsig Bike Park, regarding the way in which they have maintained my bike and have treated me as a loyal customer. I have never felt "ripped off" in respect of any of my dealings with them, and have always been offered alternative cost choices terms of maintenance and upgrade options. It is safe to say that once you've experienced service levels of the highest order, as I have, both from Titan, and my local bike shop, there is no reason to change to a different brand, or other bike shop. My 2c worth.
  4. That was my old frame. Titan recently provided a warranty replacement frame without any problem. Will shortly post a pic of my new rig, which looks even better, Fellow Titan riders, do not be shy to post pics of your bikes, for others to drool over and be envious of. Best decision I have made to purchase a Titan product. Local is definitely lekker, and more affordable than some of the ludicrously priced brands and bikes out there. Once again, my two cents worth. Just to reitrate, I am not an employee of Titan, nor a brand ambassador of their products (yet)
  5. I am 188 CM tall and ride an XL Titan RS Cypher Pro, which is the perfect fit. By the way my steed is the best value for money carbon carbon ride out there with carbon hoops and great specs. No I do not work for Titan Racing, but have been super impressed with their after sales service. Just my 2 cents worth.
  6. I have been a member of the Bike Hub, for many years, but this is the first time that I am posting anything on any of the forums. It has been an interesting exercise reading all of the posts on this forum, and I want to share my own personal experience as an incredibly satisfied owner of a Titan product. My assessment of the product offering, is completely objective, and I am not sharing this post as an advertising plug for Titan. I previously owned a carbon Spez Marathon Epic, which was unfortunately stolen. Thankfully the bike was insured and the insurance company was prepared to replace the bike. I specifically wanted to buy a new bike with a warranty on the frame, as opposed to buying something which was pre-owned. I saw a carbon Titan RS Cypher Pro being advertised by a bike shop, at a very competitive price. As was not familiar with the Titan brand at the time, and and only knew that they owned a large segment of the kids market, I decided that I needed to do a lot of homework on the brand. I looked at a variety of articles relating to the research and development of the bike and carefully considered the build quality and the component mix of the specific bike, in comparison to other bikes on offer. I also read as many independent reviews of the bike as I could get my hands on, and was most impressed with the component mix at the price point at which it was being offered, however, comparison to other models of other bike manufacturers. I had a limited amount of money available in terms of the insurance claim, and I opted to purchase the Titan product, which at the time I purchased it during July 2020 had a SRAM GX group set, a SRAM Ultimate front fork and rear shock, SRAM Level TL brakes and in-house Titan Racing Carbon hoops. The bike also came with a carbon flat bar as well as a carbon seat post and a Fizik saddle, which I immediately changed, as it was, not to my liking. I was very impressed with the quality component mix on the bike as it provided pretty good bang for my buck. I added a dropper post and I was ready to go. The bike has treated me wonderfully well and I have enjoyed many hundreds of hours of riding pleasure, without any issue. I also had several falls due to my lack of talent The bike is responsive and sure-footed, instils confidence when things get a bit rowdy on the trail and I am incredibly happy with my purchase. The frame has recently been replaced in terms of the warranty due to a hairline crack in the seat post and dealing with Titan has been an absolute pleasure. No questions were asked when the bike was returned for inspection and 2 days after it was sent to Titan, I received notification from Carlo, whom I have dealt with before, when purchasing various Titan merchandise, that the frame would be replaced under warranty. I have now received a brand-new frame and bike has been built up with existing components. The new matt black and red frame which I received is a showstopper, and is even more beautiful than the glossy red frame which was initially supplied. Chris Nixon and his wonderful team at the Bike Park at the Constantia Uitsig must be commended on the way in which the bike turned out. This, by the way is also not a plug for my LBS. The final point which I wish to make is that due to the manner in which I as a Titan owner had been treated, and the enjoyment which I have received from the product, has resulted in the developing complete brand loyalty. My experience with this product has been nothing other than positive, and I am fortunate to have incredible relationship with my LBS, who constantly go out of their way to service my needs. It is interesting to read that certain of the posts critical of the price of the Cypher Ultimate and it is apparent for a resale value. I did not buy my bike for the purposes of selling it, as I can ill afford to replace it, as it now retails for approximately R 20 000.00 more than when I purchased it. Although the latest model as the SRAM AXS group set and the Reynolds carbon hoops. I cannot place the value of enjoyment which I am experiencing with this product, and the fantastic free therapy which I get every time I hit the trails. I will be riding my "new" beast for the first time tomorrow, and cannot wait to get back into the saddle. Thanks.

  8. Hi bullet77. Purchased a new Spez Power about a year ago from a Specialized concept store in Cape Town, when I had a bike set up done. It has now started to make a creaking sound, which is driving me nuts. I trust that there was no problem getting it replaced
