  1. I rate the guys at Cape Cycles Systems put a stop to the imports.
  2. This might be old knowledge but I recently tried to import some Sram components from Merlyn and was blocked form doing so.. worked around this by having a friend bring the parts across so big FU! all being said i saved around 50-60% on costs compared to the local shops.. Obviously the local distributor forced this change somehow what's weird is Merlin isn't on the official DI list.
  3. I recently bought some SRAM components off Merlin Cycles in the UK, literally less then half the price of our local shark.
  4. My experience with Dunkeld has been great. After being super fed up with my local Spez dealer and their no care attitudes, I decided to check Trek out. The guys at Dunkeld literally went out of their way to help. Highly recommend the shop
  5. It’s a scam. The only legit supplier I know of is the ladies at casquette rosebank.
  6. Hi Jono. can you make me two for a Specialized SWAT sadle mount? I’ll pay of course regards Mornè.
  7. I think Garmin does a pretty horrible job at 1st party mounts. Not to mention I can’t seem to find any local distributors that actually makes Varia mounts. Think I’m going to try and print my own, perhaps do a few different ones. this sounds like a business idea if anyone is looking for a small side gig. what do you guys rate?
  8. not making any aquations but this sounds a bit like a inside job, someone got clever... welcome to SA
  9. No probs, glad you sorted it out bud. in my very humble opinion on SRAM I would say the product/s in general is made pretty sub standard. I constantly need to fiddle with my brand new battery charger as well.
  10. The problem isn’t the Store or the Club. It’s managed by good people. The problem is the “old boys” club with in the club. People think they own the group they ride with. I also think this is everywhere in any group. CL is just the largest so they have the largest proportion of entitled roadies. To be honest this entire experience soured the club rides for me. I’ll just cycle on my own. (Ps, I’m not “bashing” anyone)
  11. to be 100% honest I only went down this road because my local Spez guys had zero stock, I really wanted a Diverge comp I agree its way over kill however I do see a use case for converting based on how expensive new bikes are.
  12. gearing for me was the biggest issue, i wanted to reuse my current MTB drive train.. ended up going Rival\GX ASX. Party at the back business in front
  13. Update on the topic. I ended up taking the battery cover off and soldering on some pins from my charger. the entire process was a pain and to be honest I'd rather recommend taking the mec to a pro electrical shop to get fixed... You will need a few tools and I had to improvise. Now on to the real issue, One should not have to cannibalize a charger to reuse pogo pins. The real problem here is a very very poor design from SRAM IMHO. I don't understand why you would use parts that's bound to fail on a non serviceable item. It would have made a lot more sense using the pin idea on the battery instead of the mec or perhaps something that doesnt require a spring loaded 0.3mm pin. If and lets rather say when this fails again, i'm buying a new Shimano groupo. SRAM can go suck on a pogo pin.
  14. Please reach out if you still need a entry and a partner. I’ll put you in touch with a friend who needs someone.
  15. I was thinking of sacrificing a charger for the pin and opening up and soldering the “new” one in place.
  16. Hi guys. I have a problem with my sram gx axs derailleur’s right hand battery connector pin. The pin is spring loaded it seem and extends to sit flush with the battery. Problem is it seems to be damaged and only extends half way on its own. To get the Mec to work you have to pull the pin out to its default position with a “tweezer” (I know right..) is there anyone that can possibly repair the connector? Out of warranty and I don’t want to replace the Mec just for this silly issue. Any help will be really appreciated
  17. Out with a very popular cycle group in Fourways on Saturday (The large chain store one ) in a very misty and cold cradle. when we got to the Lanseria intersection 50% of the group went across the stop resulting in a vehicle who already committed to cross the intersection to halt dead in the middle of the road. Give it was super misty and visibility was at around 20-30m I thought to myself we should have rather waited for the car to pass. One guy in the group proceeded to call the guy in the car a few names... I mentioned to him that I think we're wrong and almost got myself into a altercation (the Fourways boet-fighter is everywhere) Point I'm trying to make is {we} as cyclist think of ourselves as untouchable especially in a large group where the entitlement syndrome runs very very thick in some. As thick as this CL member's cranium. I dont think there is a fix for this, best you can do is to always to try and rathe go for the save option and dont be a prick. Car vs Carbon, flesh and bone. Car always wins no matter how many times you call the guy driving a @#$3ing @@s@#$%.
  18. Frustrating I know, problem is there is no more International manufacturing, logistics or stock issue. The issue is practically all bike shops use a company called CoolHeat if I recall correctly and they're the sole "agents" in SA. Also new bikes are prioritized e.g. a new Tarmac SL7 comes with a Ultegra 12speed DI2 groupo or SRAM ASX whatever and this is shipped via their own distribution network's. Lead the revolt, I'll join with my pitchfork.
  19. Think I’m going to give this a shot, I know the guys very well over here in Bryanston.
