Ok so I've decided on the Raleigh... although the Mongoose is also a great bike, no arguements there... the Raleigh is slightly better speced and only R500 more than the 'goose, taken both bikes for a test ride and I must say the Raleigh's the baby for me..

Must say that is one very pretty bike, nice one

Will be looking at better tyres later on, just see how the pocket looks after the Mongoose

You can pick up some nice duel sus for between 6 and 15000... My sister got a Giant Ukon FX for around 6000..... There's the Silverback Mercury 3 going for about 13500 or the Mongoose Teocali Comp going for about 14995.... there's probably alot more out there though...

K last 2c.... even Mongoose have got some ok bikes in that price range...

There's also the GT Avalanche 2.0 which is just one up from the 3.0, going for around R6500.00 to R6900.00 depends where you buy..

I could be wrong but the GT Avalanche 3.0's going for around R5500.00 and it's really not a bad bike for starters... there could be better deals out there and good luck with the search ..

Just my 2c, but I started on an Avalanche AX250 and for R1700.00 at the time I got a pretty good bang for buck.... GT's also got some decent deals..
