  1. Yes, it isn't that obvious in the pictures, but she is really small. Take into account that she was supposed to be 6 months old only now, that she was a twin and all the trauma her little body was subjected to and I guess those are the reasons. She still wears some of her 0-3 month clothes. We are just so grateful that the paediatrician has not detected any deficits. Also, she goes to a kind of daycare with a limited number of babies where they have special play-sessions to stimulate their minds, senses and development in general. She loves her "teacher" and is very excited to see her in the mornings.
  2. Haha, shame! Spare a thought for them. Little Miss has them up all hours of the night for hours on end. They are dog tired and both work. I think things will improve once they can start her on baby food. This will be at 9 months when her corrected age will be 6 months. She currently weighs just 5.7kg - less than our biggest cat!
  3. Karmi is 8 months old today. So friendly and she loves her bath!
  4. Not our little alien any longer, that is for sure! (7 and 1/2 months old now).
  5. Hi everyone! Karmi was baptised today. Doesn't she look pretty?
  6. Apologies, things are always so hectic at the start of the academic year. I'm sorry for having been absent for so long. Karmi is doing great! She goes to daycare now, because mom has to work. Little one got a cold a couple of weeks ago, but managed to fight it off without complications. She is still much smaller than other babies her age (one cannot really tell from the pics, I know) and her doctor is just slightly concerned about the size of her head as it is smaller than expected for a of baby her size/weight. Still, she is a happy little miracle:
  7. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May you all experience joy and good fortune in the year ahead. From Karmi and family.
  8. See soft toy for reference: 2 September (Karmi at 1 and a half months old) and today (5 months old). At last her newborn and 0-3 month clothes are fitting properly
  9. She was very silly yesterday
  10. Today is Karmi's five-month "birthday". She weighs a hair over 4kg, so still a tiny little thing. She is healthy and we are very grateful for that! She is a very bad sleeper though - short naps only. She seems none the worse for this, but I cannot say the same for her parents
  11. Karmi is 4 months old today and attended church for the first time. I don't think she liked the sermon
  12. Congratulations, Robbie, to you and your wife. Awesome! There should be a thread for the next generation of little Hubbers so everyone can post pics of ultrasounds, bellies, and new arrivals.
  13. Karmi at 2 weeks; 1 month and 10 days; 2 months and 10 days; 3 months and 3 weeks. That pacifier is shrinking!
  14. Karmi with mum (then and now pics). Baby now weighs 2.760kg and is quite the handful - she seems to be nocturnal Mum's mother has come to the rescue so all the adults can get a few more hours of sleep per day!
  15. Did they stop the labour? Mom and baby fine?
  16. Guess who is 3 months old today?
  17. Karmi continues to thrive at home
  18. Dunno if this is old news, but came across a thread on an international forum showing that the 2016 Jeffsy can run 2.60 Nobby Nics. Interesting option. http://forums.mtbr.com/26-27-5-29-plus-bikes/nobby-nic-29x2-60-a-1020942-3.html
  19. Thanks, hey! EDIT: @ Yo-yo - According to their site: L for 5'8" - 6'1"
  20. Please convince me not to buy one!
  21. Good to know! Will pass that on.
  22. Yes, it is the Chicco Keyfit. Good eye! I certainly would not have known had I not been involved in the selling of the twin travel system and buying of the replacement. That white insert is a huge bonus atm. They weighed Karmi on the 24th and she was 1.920kg, so I'd imagine that she was discharged yesterday weighing almost exactly 2kg (going by recent gain trend). The socks probably add another 50g
  23. Need I say more...
  24. Her name is Karmi Parsons. Updates won't be daily anymore, but I promise to post milestones and the occasional cute pic EDIT: @TALUS: Don't worry, I'll post her with all progressive wheel sizes, starting at balance bike
  25. The big day is finally upon us. After 71 days in NICU and PICU, Karmi is going home tomorrow!!! Thank you all for your continued support throughout this rollercoaster ride. You have played a role in her recovery, as well as helping her parents cope with emotional and financial stress. A summary of what our little Bunny has overcome: - After a very difficult and traumatic birth, doctors at first thought that she hadn't survived. - She had a brain bleed and a hole in her heart. - She had to be resuscitated three times over the following days. - Ventilators, from which she had to be weaned over 6 weeks, kept her breathing. - A collapsed lung, aspiration and pneumonia were further complications. - Two central venous lines both became infected. - Anemia of prematurity required 7 blood transfusions to ensure adequate oxygen perfusion. (Thank you to all blood donors out there!) - At first her tummy could not digest milk. They started with 1 ml, but when they reached 7 ml they had to wait a week and start over. That is all in the past. Like V12Man said, she is now a baby and no longer a preemie. She has grown from 32cm to 46cm and has doubled her 950g birth weight. Her eyes and ears seem to be fine. There is just so much to be grateful for...
