  1. True and good - trouble is there is a lot of money that gets raised through oil, mineral and gas rights that goes towards fat, greedy, corrupt and incompetent politicians who only care about their next plane, car, house etc etc. Sadly I think we'll always be on the losing end of that one ....
  2. Here's an Argus http://connect.garmin.com/activity/160163784 and 99er too (which has some rollers and a nice steep finish) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/149276698 Don't look at the last 8km of this one - it was mine and I cramped and bonked badly after 115km
  3. This one ought to be a good one: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/132556793 Sure I saw the full "four passes" ride on Garmin but couldn't find it in quick search now (includes Helshoogte to make the full circle). Hoping our team will do it as part of our DC training. You should find plenty of segments with some of the good local hill climbs on there too.
  4. Working my way through them - Angels is quite decent, and enjoyed a Very Dark Place. Looking forward to trying The Hunted too. Also have started experimenting using them with trainerroad to give me some real stats and intervals to work against while the video is playing. Not a bad setup, although I need to get my trainer and bike setup better. At present I don't think the resistance/power I'm working at is really matching what TR is saying - plus if I stand and pump my crank magnet must be moving cause I lose the cadence reading. IDT is a very new thing for me, so will take some time to come up with a system that works for me. Having some vids and on screen stats is definitely helping to focus the effort tho.
  5. Worth a try I reckon - when mine started playing up, batteries seemed to be #1 cause on Garmin forums.
  6. Guessing you've tried new battery in at least one of them?
  7. Very welcome. If you use an IDT and get one, then you're all set for these guys too: http://www.trainerroad.com/ I got mine so I could hook Tacx Bushido up to my PC, but the above site was a bonus
  8. Check if any of your supplements contain Glutamine - one of the side effects can be headaches. I suffered badly with that. Cut it out and all ok. Have now gradually re-added separately in small doses and can take up to 5Mg without headaches.
  9. Got mine on Nivo: http://nivo.co.za/
  10. I'm no expert on training or IDT. Personal experience is that training vids help a lot - currently enjoying these myself: www.thesufferfest.com Not everyone's cup of tea - others I ride with swear by Spinervals and Carmichael series. Also agree, set yourself a program and some goals so it's not just spinning without a purpose. I'm planning on giving this site a try in next few weeks: http://www.trainerroad.com/ Partly because they have a set of programs that are timed to link to the Suffer videos - so I get the video and music soundtrack I like, with proper training stats behind it. In the end - I guess IDT is always gonna suck. Just got to find something that works for you to alleviate the boredom, and keep you putting the effort in
  11. I found that trying to get GP 4 seasons - no one in SA had them. Ended up getting them shipped from UK.

Now that is a lineup! I remember coming back from hols and listening to the R1 live broadcast of that show and wishing I'd not been so stupid to book a vacation at that time.

Haha - nice! Saw them at Earls Court, London in 2006 - flipping awesome. Glad they were coz my g/f had flown over from Jozy to see them with me - been a bit of a mess up if they'd been sh*te. So I'm def not in the only good before XXX album camp.
  14. Well said. I come from a family riddled with depression - I guess it's in the genes. Quite by accident, I discovered that regular cycling (probably more the exercise and endorphins than the act of cycling) keeps the demons totally at bay. Keep me off the bike and I become a miserable g*t and not nice to be around.
  15. I certainly have plenty of mass - and a lot of people are critical about my cycling, so could be interested if there were enough to make it a proper jol.
  16. Nice! Although we would be totally bankrupt if my g/f and I were both on the web shopping for bike bits - CRC, CWC, Wiggle, BuyCycle, SJS etc already make way too much money out of me!
  17. Ahhhh ... tasty
  18. Hoping may not .... but Hope will: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/products/small/24544.jpg Just picked up my nice newly laced Mavic Open Pros with Hope Hubs from William's
  19. I once had a wife like that. But in the words (and voice) of Hannibal Lecter ... Not Any More ....
  20. Ah yes - the dreaded breakup, an ugly affair best forgotten as you say. I still have friends on the other side and it's been hard on them ....
  21. Seems like charity entries already opened - buddy talked me into riding for their charity this year, and the entry went in last week
  22. Cool - that's pretty normal. If you normally ride 23 or 25, and you're happy with a bit more weight on the tyre you'll find they make for a very comfy ride when outright speed doesn't matter so much. Most road frames you can squeeze a 28 on, can be tight fit though
  23. Because if you come from Sufferlandria - suffering is good: www.thesufferfest.com Don't blame me .... you brought Suffer into this
  24. You should also check your rim can actually mount something as big as a 47 - i know my everyday 700c road rim (Mavic) states nothing more than a 28mm, although I know some people have gone above this to 32mm and a bit more. I'd doubt anything 40+ would work tho
  25. Wow - I'd be very surprised if a 47 would fit, I'm no expert but I doubt you'd get anything much over a 28 .... I'd definitely get that in writing and a promise of a free exchange with free shipping
