  1. The Break, there is no damage at all, probably because there are so many clamping faces. The advantage i have found using these is that it just makes it so much cleaner and quicker to change gears. Also getting a perfect chain line is a no-brainier especially if you have cogs of varying thickness. Just another solution but by no means the only one. I cycling, would be keen to hear how the cable ties work out, will be even cheaper than plumbing pipe. please let us know.

  3. Heart Coppi, sorry to see the rapid change in heart, you went from seems reasonable to the above, in real life they are very nicely finished off, anodized and fit great. The tolerances are spot on and minimal torque is required to tighten them up, if you don't like them, run a gear smaller than 16 or prefer to change gears with a chain whip and cassette tool you could always use plumbing pipe or simple aluminium spacers. They all work. choices, choices.....
  4. Hi Eiger, R250 is for the pair, they work a treat! Adjusting chainline and changing gears has never been easier! slide one G-clamp on, then your cog then the other GC and leave em loose. Spin the crank backwards and it basically self aligns, tighten the two clamps and you are done. To change gears simply leave the inside clamp in place. The lack of tools and time taken means it is perfect for a multi day event or quick, last minute changes. I ran them at the Atta with no issues, so i guess they are trail proven now too! Eggsover....... made from aluminium.
  5. It was just the right thing to do, kind of how MTB used to be, see a bloke take a tumble and at least make sure he is ok, it should not be a big surprise! Both of them area also not taking the series as a major priority for their seasons so why not thrill the crowds and get some added exposure. As for the 2 gear thing it was not meant to be taken literally and technically, Max just attacked hard and at a higher level, they could not respond to his move Had nothing to do with gears as the second climb (on 45k) was a much friendlier gradient than the 75k one.
  6. Agree on all the do it yourself posts, its all just a simple cable tensioned with a spring at the other end. BUt the post and thread is useless without naming the shop, save us the same misfortunes!!!

Looks sweet with the white wheels, what is the total weight now? Congrats again, many happy (s)miles! @Eldron I have just heard the One9 is allergic to alfine hubs and can only run pure single speed, awesome news and good choice again!!!! now all you need is a rigid fork and hairy legs!

  11. SO, i got some awesome goodridge hose and the same namesake connectors but cant seem to find any instructions on how to install, has anyone done this before? If i just cut the hose and try to slip the threaded collar over it, it is very tight and only goes on about 1-2mm. If i remove just the plastic outer exposing the mesh it seems too loose!?!? Secondly to try and thread the second element of connector into the hose separately also seems to be more difficult than it should and damn near impossible. Please help with any tips or advice regarding installation. Thanks!!

  15. I will also go down the road of using what you already have. Is the truvativ really poked mechanically or do you just want to replace for aesthetics?? I used a really old scuffed M960 crank and just 'spent' a few hours and elbow grease to polish them up with water paper and Autosol polish, now they just look plain awesome, and unique, just like a single speed!! XT for the upgrade option would be worth a look as the rings are better than LX (more durable) and if you are worried about weight it is also better, along with HUB resale value. choices, choices!!
