We are waiting to establish if we can claim from their insurance for our bikes..... Very limit (no?) security when we discovered the break-in just after 6:00 am. We had to drive from the Equestrian estate to the main gate to find a security guard. Several units broken into, bikes, tv's , laptops.... I estimate the estate was around 75% occupied and in one case they went through a bedroom where the family's daughter was sleeping....serious jack-up in security needed, doubt I will return.... Management reacted, but in my view slowly, police arrived around 8:00...

Hi, after the incident I made my way to safety, phoned Buffels and returned to the coffee shop. I waited a while and then returned home. Yes they reacted and said they would go out and mentioned Metro police and that they would change the route (by WhatsApp), I was not around for this..... My aim was purely to make solo riders aware of the incident....I am convinced Buffels will do everything in the power to make things safe but it is a large area....

Similar interest charge for two months, battle to get it back but then phoned for the third time and insisted on a written response from Discovery in order to proceed to ombudsman....sorted !

I had the same problem....with Garmin + Zwift (Kickr 3) . It needs to be a Garmin Dual, the newer ones....had both and one worked and the other (older) one not. As mentioned....connecting with Zwift, not the Kickr

Same issue....used Edge 520 with Fenix 5 (2017), worked perfect. Then Fenix decided time to retire... I now have the same Edge 520 (still close enough) but the new Fenix 5S Plus is all over the place, mostly lower. Did the reset, calibration, stopped Galileo and now going to try only Glonass. So far now success....will aslo switch off auto-calibration during the ride. Let’s see if new software will resolve this issue.

Went from Trek to Spez (my dream bike...), just took delivery of a new Trek again yesterday, why ? Something to do with life time warranty on a carbon frame that cracked (only had the bike for 18mnths) and I have to pay for the replacement. Enough said.

Hi everyone. We rode VG today. I have never done a "casual" ride at VG, always just the races. As we went up the jeep track approaching Oom Piet the gate was locked (big chain big lock), with a sign indicating private property etc etc. I took the path bending off to the right, this grass was recently cut here and it seemed the correct way to go. However it later become clearly a "lawnmower that got lost" type of path. We ended-up completely missing Oom Piet by following this, again this seemed recently cut and the way they wanted us to go. I did notice 2 riders which must have climbed over the gate and simple went onto the usual Oom Piet path. I know getting lost at VG is part of the experience but this "new section" was really not nice, only the veld grass cut, no further track building. What I want to know is..... do we simply ignore the gate and warning and just continue on the path which was the old Oom Piet ? This is not a rant, just want to know what happened to Oom Piet's, will be back at VG but not going to follow the new section again... Thanks, Jaco

I have also checked with Advendurance and got the same....sponsor did not renew. Pity, really enjoyed these events and they seemed to have been well supported.

I did the 50km USN Avianto last year, in my opinion the Buffelsdrift 50km route is slightly tougher, interesting my time for USN and the Buffels 50km is similar.... As mentioned on other posts the black mud was challenging...

This is what works for Edge 520, maybe try similar process...for Edge 500 and TCX files. Download from Strava and save GPX file Use www.gpsies.com to convert to GPX track or TCX . Import as activity into Garmin Connect and then save as course.

Did the marathon in C batch, great race, water points were excellent, great route. Will be back....well done Advendurance !
