  1. I asked the organizers about a link to the pics...still waiting:(
  2. a link with all the photos coming soon 🤗
  3. yup , agreed on not having singletrack right at the end… but will definitely include some beautiful extra gravel/ singletrack in the middle section 👍
  4. Soa’s coffee trailer was there by the finish line all day… how did you miss it?
  5. Glad to hear you all enjoyed it... Next year I will ask the organizers to put out some more food stands [we offered free space to food vendors but there was no interest] I will include the forest and an extra section on some interesting jeep\single track to make it a true 130km ...maybe longer A beer tent would be nice too...but the alcohol licence story is a headache. We will endeavour to keep the price of the entry quite low...compared to some of the other exorbitant gravel race entry fees I have been seeing of late..
  6. Put them all on a nice blazer...get a general's cap and a monocle...
  7. results should be here soon http://www.great-time.co.za/.cm4all/uproc.php/0/W-Cape 2024 GRAVEL Series Log 25-May-2024 V03.pdf?cdp=a&_=18fd2affce0
  8. you are welcome to ride any of the routes tomorrow , just close any gates if you find them closed👍
  9. What a beautiful day for our race,,,,just finished doing a route check...you guys are going to love it!!
  10. this guy rode here from London to ride our race
  11. as far as I know registration is this afternoon and also tomorrow morning see https://www.entryninja.com/events/79775-the-canola-roller-2024
  12. be advised NO LATE ENTRIES are available...please do not arrive in Greyton without an entry [you can of course ride any of our other trails and gravel rides at your leisure 😃]
  13. it didn't rain much yesterday and today it should dry up somewhat...but I really have no idea...but nothing like last year!
  14. will send him up Bakenskop...
  15. blame @MongooseMan for giving me the heads-up😝...but it really could have been a potential logistical nightmare and pissed off the frontrunners [or maybe not]
  16. absolutely...you can also enter the forest and ride it instead of the road...but it will add 5 minutes at least to your race time if that is something that matters to you...the forest has been swept and cleaned so it will be fun
  17. ok , finished marking...some signs were vandalised, one got put in the middle of the road by a vandal so we had TWK sending us emails about obstructing public roads...a farmer took down some of our signs since he though they pointed into his farm...etc etc..all sorted now some of the route is muddy today after last nights heavy rain but should dry out tomorrow...but expect a little bit of mud in places.. the forest section at the end has been omitted for logistical reasons but no biggie...it was a short section and is quite wet now anyways... otherwise good to go...weather for Saturday looks good!!
  18. yup, I run 1,8 and 1,6 bars on 45mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M The marking is always a worry with possible wind taking down signs, kids messing around etc...I have asked a local on a motorbike to ride the whole route early on saturday morning... Riders often have their heads down at a crucial turn but race organizers cannot be expected to put a marshal at every single turn...so insisting on riders using a GPS for routing with audible turn alarms is paramount.
  19. We have decided to only route the 130km riders through the forest to avoid backmarkers for both the 130 and 80 frontrunners....so the 80 and 30 routes will bypass the forest section at the end of the race...no other way without running into logistical nightmares Have been out marking the route for the past 2 days...quite challenging especially through the farms since the roads are quite rough. There will be marshals where the different routes split off from each other and there are boards with red arrows marking the 130\80\30 directions. The traffic dept will man the 2 crossings of the R406. We did advise riders on the website and Entrininja to download the .gpx files for the rides since it gives one extra level of safety in case they miss the red arrows for any reason...but the route is well marked to the best of my knowledge...
  20. 46T up front makes way more sense...and a 50T may not even fit on most frames
  21. ....from the race organizers... I doubt there will be an issue however those very slow riders can be redirected up the road if we anticipate an issue.
