  1. How was the giants? I believe it was 60kms instead of the anticipated 40kms.. That last 8kms through the gate to the finish line is quite something.
  2. The saddle is similar to the ironing board that I had on the Anthem X2, so I am fairly used to it. I have also changed the handlebar for a 670mm raised one. Works better for me than the 700mm flat that came standard. Looking forwards to two planned 60km rides this weekend around the Karkloof area! Enjoy your weekend.
  3. My Giant Bike has arrived and the first impressions are that this is one real smooth pedalling machine. I have already chopped off 3 mins off my fastest time across a 29.3km course. This ride has 614m ascent which the bike handled really well with not much noticeable extra effort required to get the 29'er to the top. The best part has to be the "effortless" feel that the bike has at medium efforts of 130 - 150 bpm. The wheels feel weightless on flat track. Smooooth is a nice word here. I have tried the odd bunnyhop and one or two mates have wheelied the bike but it's clear that the 26er beats it in this department. The handling still feels quite nimble though but have yet to test it on singletrack (holding thumbs ). My last little bit has to be the rear suspension feels very solid and not squishy. Nice to climb hills with and to soak up the bumps on the other side.
  4. That is super impressive. Next year you should get a better seeding!
  5. Well done to all you guys who posted a sub 3 hour - Awesome stuff!!! 2011 was my first Argus and from S batch I managed to eek out a 3h21. What a wild ride.
  6. What attachment?
  7. An almighty stuff up! Can you imagine being in CT at the ARGUS in a rare breakaway with MTB and roadie legends with the ARMSTRONG and the race commentator is Liggit? ....and the TV coverage is brought to us by??? Amateurville Rocky Horror Picture Show!

    Training

So long as you do 16 hours a week, do what you want to!
  9. Makes me want to reach for my 6"1, 14 year old wedge. but probably a wee bit big for me. Four foot and glassy would be A ok. Great pics
  10. My latest aquisition... plus the odd scratch. I seem to drop the new bike fairly soon after purchasing it... then never again.
  11. Well done on the sportsmanship! The big wheel turns and one day you will be on the receiving end of a similar sporting gesture. The only other way that it could have played out that close to the line - - You ignore the incident and race for the line. You sit up, wait for Burry and then race for the line. You sit up, wait for Burry and he lets you take second. Two and three make perfect sense.
  12. Hold onto that thought, it can change quickly My partner and I are almost even. If anything he has been the cause of me hitting the wall more times than me being the cause of him hitting the wall. Yesterday was a good day for me. 90kms in 4h39, 1600m ascent...... Not sure if this is conducive to a good Sani though Standoff2010-03-07 09:09:17
  13. To all the experienced riders out there! Please comment on our weekly/monthly training regimen. Most of our riding is hard ie hills etc and I am finding it difficult to put in 13hrs as in weeks 1 & 2, therefore we have scaled it back. Currently starting week 6. Your comments are very much appreciated. Our objective is to do a 14.5hr Sani2c. What do you think? TRAINING: Week 1: Tues 3hr; Wed Pilates; Thurs 3hr; Fri Pilates; Sun 5hr Week 2: repeat week1 Week 3: Wed Pilates; Thurs 3hr: Fri Pilates: Sun 5hr Week 4: repeat week3 Week 5: Wed Pilates; Fri Pilates: Sun 5hr Week 6: Tues 2hr; Wed Pilates; Thurs 2hr: Fri Pilates; Sun 2hr Weeks 7 & 8: repeat week 6 Week 9: Tues 2hr Week 10 Sani2c All Pilates classes are 50mins
  14. Any ideas as to when the MW XC bike will be available? I heard that next year is a possibility. In the meantime bring on my Trek!!
  15. Shaving is the pits!! Hairy legs is the Hansa!
  16. Bicycle prices are over the top! The engineering in a BMW GS motorcycle and a top end carbon MTB or road bike is not the same. Yet the prices are comparable. Over a R100k comparable. Why do we pay? We have no alternatives that's why (other than importing ourselves) and sometimes we pay for the prestige of owning the said bike. Better model = more price. Same marketing hype as for computers. They dumb down the engineering and create different models within the brand. Not sure if it costs more to engineer an XTR v XT derailer. Probably not. 17. Bring on 2010.
