  1. Can the OP tell us the thickness of the rotor. The have a 1.5mm wear limit generally and it is good practice to measure wear with a micrometer from time to time and replace if close to or outside the limit. Does look like the pads ran low.
  2. Patch I feel for you and feel the same, that is why I am staying away for a while......
  3. Couple of more things: - it is a one way, respect the rules - when done with a loop do not go down the one way to the parking area, carry on for the rest of the loop it is good for you! - the cars drive slowly (speed limit) watch out! - only cash!
  4. It is Joburg's best kept secret. It is lovely, we have been going for years. Some pointers: - get there early, they open at 7 and the queue can be long - don't litter and watch for hikers crossing the road - watch for animals crossing the road but also look around for game, they can often be seen grazing nearby - be careful on the descents! I have seen numerous crashers - be mindful of the wind and cross winds - after going for years I have a nasty crash in the beginning of the year, fast into a corner and the wind grabbed the front wheel, rest is history and the end of my ride that day - have a picnic in the parking area afterwards - there are bathrooms at the top by the visiting centre - be mindful of the cars - be careful of the descents! - don't park like an idiot! - respect the staff, they only work there - you can get water and go to the bathroom at the other entrance to the park - it is safe, some of us have gone for a hike or walk while the rest ride. - 1 loop is lekker, make sure you are fit enough for 2 full loops (120 +/-) - enjoy the bird life - enjoy!
  5. What was the duty on the shoes - I have had from 25% -40% on items. Thanks
  6. The mech I think gave good advice. De-gassing the caliper is a method used when bleeding Avid brakes and I also do it now in my m985 xtr brakes and yes it works well.
  7. I have only had two before, both Cat Eye. I bought the http://www.cateye.com/en/products/detail/TL-LD700-R/ 3 years back. It is USB rechargeable with a power saving function, it is very bright even in the day and can quickly be put on or take off as it secures with an oring. My 2 cents.....
  8. Just stumbled across this thread....my cycling bag looked a bit tired and I started looking around for a new one. I eventually came to the conclusion that there is not a "one bag solution". I did not really want a "block" type bag although the Kitbrix and Smiths bags are very nice and well made. I started looking at transition bags and in the end got a 2XU transition bag. Ample space and pockets, wet / shoe compartment, can be carried on your back as well. It looks like a very big bag but it is not. I do not know the exact capacity but it is big enough for all the stuff we normally take along. Maybe it is a solution for someone..... Check out trihub.co,za, they have them online at a good price.
  9. Let me throw "spanner in wheel" - The Wheelbuilder book is excellent, pay and download your copy - The basic tool list in this thread is spot on but a tension meter is a luxury. It is interesting to check afterwards with a tension meter. the DT Swiss (if you can afford it) is a lovely quality instrument - Patience, patience, patience - I am also still learning and the books offer lots of tipe and tricks of the trade.
  10. Sorry but I saw your post today while searching for blue float oil - do you still have it?
