  1. i don't think you know what you need to do to host a 'small event ie between 200 - 2000 participants. there are over 10 regulatory acts you need to comply with - go and read up what event organiser's need to adhere to just to submit an application to the events office. a sports governing body has no say whether the event is going to take place or not. BUT it is a good idea to have their support.
  2. Event Name: Team Time TrialWhen: 13/11/2022Where: Perdeberg Cellar, , Paarl, Western CapeCategory: RoadFine tune your team for the DC and Team Time Trial for 60 kilometres 2 weeks before the DC. Teams to consist of 6 riders with the time of the 4th rider across the line to count as the team time. Go to Event Page.
  3. i will answer other queries tomoro - it's been challenging organising certain issues by remote control and in free time.
  4. over 100 kms at PdV cat 2 were 14 minutes slower than cat 1 , at Lady Loch Cat 2 rode 84 kms in 2.22 , cat 1 raced 96 kms in 2.27, ultimately the distance will leave only the strongest racing and i believe the strongest in group 5 will catch the strongest in group 4 even if it's 'on the line'.
  5. can we employ you next year to seed the field?😁
  6. if any rider outside Group 5 (cat 1) can klap this distance at 40kph , then they will deserve line honours
  7. teams vs individuals - teams that race regularly over 150 kms vs individuals that don't. let's see - it should be interesting.
  8. participants will receive an email tonight with their seeded group and starting time. some interesting info - - - the first starting group has 32 riders , group 2 has 27 riders - these 2 groups consist of non-WP League riders taking into their performance on racetec. the next 3 groups were seeded according to the category they race in at WP Road League - cat 3 , 28 riders , cat 2 (group 4) 23 riders , and cat 1 (group 5) 23 riders. participants without WP League events but whose average speed in various PPA races and their PPA seeding qualified them for a 'wp category' were added to the categories. but we have tried to err on the side of caution and seeded them into the 'slower group'. there is a 30 minute time gap between each group. the race officials have been given the starting times and we have received no objections so lets wait for the email comms.
  9. we are expecting to release your starting batch and time later this evening.
  10. 130 entries - the seeding and times that the groups will start should be published by Monday , Tuesday the latest.
  11. 100 riders have entered so far
  12. 3 days before entries close. the suggestion for a 7.00am start for the 'slowest bunch' has provisionally been agreed to, so its important to enter before entries close so the field can be 'seeded' ASAP.
  13. what would an 'independent' expect at the watering point at 127 kms (Redelinghuys) to get them to the finish other than water? 1t water point is at 60 odd kms and the last at 30 kms to the finish. so the mid point one is the most important.

  15. just a reminder that today is the last day for early bird entries. WP Cycling hosted a zoom meeting Q&A for affiliated clubs/teams last night - a summary will be posted later once approved.
  16. Early Bird entries are open till the end of May https://www.wpcycling.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fentry%2Fstart%3Fevent%3D25983 R222 early bird thereafter late entries of R300 till the 16th June. Riders to be seeded by the WP Road Commission.
  17. if the first bunch starts at 7.00am (this is just in proposal form at the moment) a 25kph rider should finish by 3.00pm
  18. from experience of races over 150 kms - the field is generally strewn all over the course and cross the line 1 by 1 after a certain distance. but we have taken that into account and will consult with the race commissaires, if they are of the opinion that safety will be an issue then we must have a rethink. but personally if my average speed is estiamted 30 kms for the event and i'm caught in the last 20 kms by the fastest riders averaging 40 kph - i know i won't be able to hook on.

  20. this could be an interesting event.
  21. fantastic , you can hang in there with the best climbers, but what skills do you have going down a hill?
  22. you did not apply for sanctioning - if you did CSA officials would have advised you to 1.start earlier 2. that later starting groups ride the shorter distance. the accident might still have happened but i bet my bottom dollar that the officials would have made you change the start and the finish to something more simpler and straight forward. 90% of your participants can't negotiate a straight road never mind a technical start and finish
