  1. R250 for an early entry? i see it counts towards your Argus seeding - desperate times call for desperate measures.
  2. bump - entries are open - take advantage of the discounted early entry fee.
  3. interesting issue - maybe the CTT Trust feels it doesnt need insurance in the event of cancellation - they have their income already and 6 months in advance so theres no chance of losing it due to cancellation. what would the chances of a court case succeeding if someone sues CTT Trust for incompetence / negligence for not having the ins in place. in sure this would have already happened in the USA.
  4. they are basically saying that we can all be first in line to be relieved of our money
  5. just a question that has popped all of a sudden. did the event organisers have insurance in place for cancellation of the event? if they didn't, thats just plain stupid , if they did , will they claim seeing that they are keeping our money.
  6. my Tuesday Killarney sessions in the wind and then intervals up Giel Basson into the south easter on a Thursday is going to pay off at last.
  7. i've heard that the juniors can ride but if one wins, they wont win. if you know what i mean - i've just heard this, so dont take it as the gospel truth.
  8. i dont agree with Wynand de Villiers - the safety of the riders is the responsibility of the organisers/safety officer - the team manager is only allowed to drive behind 1 team rider - what about the other 3 or 4 riders in the team - they aren't allowed to have back up. that lane should have been 'coned' off for a 100 metres before the turn. there was another close call at the middle turn where the new Slent road is under construction. a rider caught up with a truck that passed him and they took the turn together (not clever). riders will do anything to maintain a top 10 placing.
  9. the engineer who signed off that gantry would have been in trouble if the bunting wasnt taken down. it was a few seconds from being blown flat.
  10. not used to the wind with thoose deep sections
  11. second this post i was only able to get to the Sunday races - there were traffic officials all over the route and witnessed cars being pulled over by them till the race passed. i bumped into an elderly couple from Wellington who read about champs in their local newspaper and they were picnicing next the feeding zone. they were really thrilled to watch the racing. the tannie said its the closest they'll get to the TdFrance.
  12. i dont know why we have to pander to UCI in the age(d) categories. race 30 - 39 , 40 - 49 50 - 59 and then 60+. if you win 30 - 39 and you are aged 39 then you are the sub vets champ. do the same with 40 - 49 etc etc. provincial champs become a farce when riders are on the podium and they can barely finish the race.
  13. apparently the officials were still debating the issue after the race. typical. the issue should have been cleared up at the team manager's meeting before the race.
  14. elite and u23's - one race - if an u23 wins then they are elite and u23 champ. the issue was: they didn't know the rules - they thought Dalton would be crowned u23 champ only so they didnt chase thinking they still racing for elite gold.the rules are quiet clear they just need to read and understand them.
  15. yes , de Bod the u23's and Oosthuizen the juniors
  16. he's been riding league since u16 , been riding o/seas where you sign on for every race you take part in.
  17. Nice one Cape Times - you run an ad/article on cycling safety which makes a point of drunk driving killing cyclists and pedestrians and then have an article by a famous actor who advocates how to stay sober when drinking alcohol all weekend right next to it.
  18. lots of tests too little testers - clown
  19. if we entered the previous one, is that entry fee still valid for this event? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/163204-event-the-outriders-west-coast-express-cancelled/ this thread confirms that Racetec will refund entrants directly. well i'm still waiting
  20. if the Euro Rugby bosses let Georgia and Romania play in the 6 Nations then we might be in a lot of **** because they have a home grown rugby culture unlike the Japs and Italians who rely on expats to make their team competitive. same goes for Canada - the more exposure the better they will get. maybe that's why the 'old boys club' don't allow them more high level games
  21. at the moment i don't think we have the players to beat anyone in the top ten and Fiji are no 10 - have they ever played a test match at home.
  22. Ireland were robbed by the TV ref.
  23. when a cycling association has the ears (and membership) of politicians and their campaign is to sell shirts and hand out bibs instead of campaigning to impose stricter penalties on negligent drivers then we will continue to see mayhem on the roads.
  24. got email telling me 'last chance to enter' so all must be in order. naa ' dont think so , will vote with the wally and do a DC training ride , blow some bucks on a lekker cupocheeno and cake in the french corner instead. good luck to all those riding - have a lekker one
