  1. Weight loss plays a big role, and then just getting fitter and stronger both physically and mentally. We know it comes down to w/kg and some goodluck on the day. I went from 6:10 in 2014 to 3:04 in 2016. 22kg weight loss between the 2 and just a lot more time on the bike. Have only recently started doing intervals, going to continue with this and my plan is to now build on my base with Letape coming up early next year. The key will be to maintain/improve throughout the year without burning out.
  2. I would say that 2:45 will be achievable but just remember that the gains slow down once you get close to your max fitness levels.
  3. Great this see this thread come alive again. I need to get out and shoot more, don't have anything new. And looking forward to my 4 day hiking trip in the Berg next March.
  4. Go compact crank with 11-28. Will help you spin up the hills. But also push a hard gear and a low cadence to build strength every so often.
  5. It also says that only new memberships receive a shirt. What's the deal here, so your renewal will cost R600 and all you get it cash back on selected events ?
  6. Found a better way to spend this weekend... cheaper too. Will be spending 4 days hiking the Berg.
  7. Heaven right there. I need a bush fix too, haven't been out since my last trip to Madikwe in April.
  8. Well that's just the attitude you want and need !! My first 1 in 2014 was 6:10 and yesterday was 3:04. Crashed 2 weeks before it last year so didn't do it. I was also a heavy guy when I did the first. This year I was 22kg lighter and that made a massive difference. Had flash backs of walking up Steyn city, sitting on the side until I could get up to walk up the hills just to roll down to the next.
  9. yeah I did. And all the other events are open for entries also. Fast one Ride4Sight Emperors Tour Durban
  10. #SteynCitymustfall As tough as it is, I guess this is what makes the race what it is.
  11. Well done dude.
  12. No probs man. Checked your club guys so said it would be good to say howzit seeing I didn't get the chance at your race.
  13. Sounds very similar to what I was doing so I'm sure we rode together. Was in a SPCA top with white Kask Protone. Good time still, just need to warm up better next year. I was late this morning and didn't have time to do a warm up.
  14. Will have to try again for that sub3. 3:04 from F. Pooks wasn't good and I fell way behind there then had to play catch up. From a 6:10 in 2014 to a 3:04. Super happy with the result.
  15. I think many in the later groups might welcome the rain. It gets extremely hot in the day so what better than some rain to cool you down.
  16. I think the N1 > William Nicol will be the best option. I used this previously and it was much better than the N14
  17. there might just be a few going over the fence...
  18. From the map they provided, we will enter from the main entrance at R55. Make sure your brakes are working.
  19. on 2 wheels...
  20. same K@K as this year, don't waste your time completing it.
  21. why would you want more bags filled with junk that you will never use ?
  22. no they not, there were plenty lining up for late entries this morning. People will pay.
  23. Disco messes up again. As Gerald pointed out, they didn't have them this morning.
  24. all of the rain that was initially forecasted for Saturday evening has now shifted to Sunday evening. We'll have a better idea of what we in for by tomorrow evening.
