  1. It's always good when things work the way they should... great ending to the story.
  2. I saw an interesting contrast on the way to work this morning - Main road around the brewery / Dean street. 1. A mountain biker: full black kit, no lights (front or back), no reflective strips. 2. A runner: yellow backpack, headlamp, the most reflective tights I have ever seen (his legs were massively lit up), light-blue vest. and the runner was like that to run on the pavement...
  3. I saw TWELVE riders on Sunday while driving in the southern suburbs, all wearing (mostly) black. It was late morning, none had lights - all were very difficult to see until right upon them. But hey, they looked cool when I did see them...
  4. And should have added: I feel awful thinking it but I'd prefer it too a bus...
  5. Is Freewheel Cycology in Kenilworth now a Specialized concept store? The outside looks like Revolution - loads of wood - but there's no signage...
  6. There's a definite local market for stolen bikes outside the second-hand shops. In the last few weeks I've seen two suspicious-looking bikes and riders. 1. Voortrekker road, Parow - a blingy white hipster single-speed, ridden by a guy in painter's overalls. 2. A road bike with quality wheels ridden by a kid in jeans and a hoodie. Both times I was in traffic going the other way and they may both belong to the riders but they looked out of place.... What should we do in these situations?
  7. That Cipollini looks insane! (Theoretically) I can now buy a bike off the floor for more than I paid for my flat...
  8. I've been trying to work out what the most expensive production bike is in the country... ie an off the floor build rather than a custom one of a kind project. Any ideas? I'm thinking along the lines of the Pinarello Graal - R125 000? Trek Madone 7.9 - R130 000
  9. I was very disappointed with Cycle Factory on Saturday... I bought my road bike from them a few years ago and, although they are definitely not local, I knew I would go back when/if I wanted an mtb. On Saturday I visited the new shop - which has a locked front door for safety. I pushed the bell repeatedly but it either doesn't work or the guy at the counter couldn't be bothered to open the door (he looked in my direction) - I stood around for a few minutes and then left. My new mtb will now be bought elsewhere...
  10. The 'nice' thing about a concept store is that (theoretically) you can see a brand's entire line in one place. The last time I was at a certain 'Town' store trying to compare bikes I was told that although they are a dealer / stockist for one particular brand they don't actually carry them on the floor but I could pay and they would 'order one from the catalogue' for me...
