  2. Spidey senses activated...
  3. Shouldn't you be shortening the chain if you install smaller ring? The derailleur can only take up a limited amount of slack
  4. Asking the right questions ^^^^
  5. For the price of a bracket you can get a membership and not have these 1st world problems...
  6. Was wanting to know as well
  7. yep and report the drunk driver
  8. Yes it is usually provided by your bank / insurance. They are usually fully booked. Can't believe why there are not more of these services around. I guess it is a cost thing. Your bank/insurance provides X times the service for free. Whereas a private company that does this will have to charge. I think that when ppl has to pay for such a service the sad reality is that they will rather drive drunk.
  9. We have this....
  10. Absolutely agree. To the point where I don't let my daughter catch a lift with one of our friends because he always drinks and refuses to let his non-drinking wife drive.
  11. Well this is where I have the issue with what you are saying. Saying that you are fine to drive after one or 2 drinks creates a slippery slope. Two drink are not equal to other 2 drinks. My 2 drinks is maybe your 4. My 2 drinks today may be 1 drink tomorrow. Too easy to fall down that slope and think you are ok, but you are actually not. In that case you are actually part of the problem. IMHO it is better to have a binary rule for yourself e.g. no driving until 12 hours after your last drink or whatever. Then there is no slippery slope or risk.
  12. And we trust him. He has on occasion challenged me when I wanted to drive after a beer. He told me I can't have different sets of rules for me and him. He was right. He drove us home. We keep him accountable in this regard and he does us. But he is in matric and lives with us so it is easier. Not so much when they live on their own.
  13. This.. getting drunk and getting into a car was his choice. The cyclist getting killed was a consequence of this choice. He should meet the full might of the law. As a father of a 19 yo son with his own car, I have had to have the drinking & driving conversation. Luckily my son is sensible and as a rule, absolutely never drinks when he drives. On occasion he asks me to drop him off and pick him up after a social where he knows he is going to drink something. I told him that I would rather get a call from him at any time of the night to pick him up than getting a call from the cops to say he is in jail.
  14. Encountered a dwis (got his number) on the Protea Hotel - D'Aria corridor the other day. Narrow trail with 2-way traffic. If someone comes from the front I slow down to signal that I am seeing them and to get past each other safely. This dwis just blasted towards me at full tilt to the point where I had to bail sideways to avoid a crash. Not even a thank you or anything. Next time I won't be as friendly
  15. Give it to your gardener
  16. This is somewhat naive. Not saying that is isnt a ripoff but you are not paying for the production cost only. You also pay for the the R&D
  17. Wife and daughter did a subscription fashion box. Stopped it soon after because: Novelty wears off quicklyDon't like everything they send - personal tasteExpensive for what you getYou don't need new stuff every monthSame applies to this bike box.
  18. Then he actually bought a bike and not a car. Same for car radio. Don't buy a car because it has a nice radio
  19. Is this is a real WHO statement or do you believe all graphics with a WHO logo slapped on it? A nice graphic with text does not make it fact
  20. Tail whipping etc <> DH. But seriously hope you have deep pockets 7yo a bit young though?
  21. No.. you would have to charge it every night...
  22. Thought as much. Yes I don't see ppl distancing doing their road rides in the morning. Large groups. Would still like to know if majik and VRiebeeckshof is allowed. Not that TBMTB has a say there mind you (assuming).
  23. TB closed the trails when lockdown 5 was introduced, which is understandable. L4 allows exercise within 5 km of your home. Not sure what TBMTB club's reason is for keeping it closed. Maybe landowners / enforcement, etc. The areas I referred to are actually areas that I am allowed on (under normal conditions) without a club membership, hence my question. May just take a ride out there one morning to find out.
  24. as a matter of interest is there clarity on public spaces in the lockdown regs. How do they then differentiate between the streets in your suburb vs something like majik
