  1. where was i partially incorrect? 😕 but you are 100% correct. My point being that _if_ a website checks ID nos, then you cannot simply change the birth date
  2. Either the website does not verify ID Numbers (bad) or you are talking erm.. untruths. Can cannot simply change a digit in your ID no. It will immediately render the number invalid. The last digit is a check digit that is calculated from the others. If it doesn't add up, the ID no is invalid
  3. Grossly unethical IMHO
  4. We were at that crossing on our way to Conties when this happened. The farm workers/bee keepers asked us to help take care of the bicycle as they were concerned that it would be stolen if left unattended. I then asked some one that just came from Hoogekraal in his bakkie to pick up the abandoned bike. We actually saw the guy on the jeep's roof. Not sure what happened to the bike?
  5. Don't modify it. You risk life and limb if it fails at the most inopportune moment. Years ago there was a guy at the Knysna race that modified / welded his fork. It failed during a descent and the bottom part took half of his face away. He died en-route to the hospital
  6. Not that I know of. Just gravel roads. Nothing technical. The road along the river to the north and then round the back to Jongens not bad.
  7. If a reseller sold your bike for a higher price without adding value then you sold it for too little
  8. Not many other guys not offering the same service does not mean you will be successful. Maybe there is not enough customers to sustain them in that area. But yes sure it depends on what your need is from a shop owner point of view. Doing the service yourself may be better. The low return and having to deal with $hitty labour in this country is not worth it IMHO.
  9. Not to rain on your parade, but I doubt if this will be successful. A friend tried that and he could never make ends meet to enable him to draw a salary. Closed it down after a year. The margins on parts and labour are not enough to pay overheads. Bike riders are also too stingy. They will not pay the rates for a service that you will need to sustain the business. They want trained and professional mechanics but is not prepared to pay for it. Some bikes cost the same as a small car, but the owners still want to skimp on spending money to maintain it. Best of luck though...
  10. Never.Ever.Ever repair something like this. If you hit a bump and the rim falters you will get hurt, maybe badly. It will happen when you least expect it because you will 100% forget about it. Did a Knysna race many years ago where a guy died because he welded his fork crown or something. Fork top took his whole lower straight off. Just don't. A rim is not that expensive
  11. Completely agree. The couple R1000 the medals cost could have been used in a positive way in the communities the races are often held close to.
  12. Yes agreed that is a good route, Just a hectic climb past hotel if you are not warmed up. I normally go traverse way but only if I can make the cutoff time
  13. Well, come on.... It is Mountain Biking after all. Can't expect to ride perfect surfaces. I actually don't mind a few ruts etc. However, the amount of wet cow $h!t on the D'Aria corridor is making me rethink my route. Yes it is a working farm so I accept it, but not nice to have cow mud get flung all over your water bottle, face, etc.????
  14. Depends on whether the service will make a mess on my driveway or not...
  15. warming his vagina by the fire 'Attractive' is rather subjective ????
  16. Just use a straightened paper clip to unclog it. Easy Peazy
  17. You probably meant 'HD rider warming his vagina by the fire' ????
  18. You have to understand that retailers sell real-estate. They have to fill their shelf-meters with products that they know will sell and make profit. Even if your product is on consignment, it takes up shelf space at the expense of another product and no guarantee that it will be worthwhile. As a retailer your goal is to continuously tweak your products and fill your shelves with those to keep on maximizing returns. Why would you sacrifice shelf space to something that is not proven? -- Former distributor having gone through the same
  19. As a company, they have excellent service. Had a question about neck brace and I could phone the marketing manage himself and get all the info
  20. Someone I know did this. Fail. Bike owners do not want to pay for a service for what the labour is costing you. You will not run a viable business on workshop only.
  21. Customs VAT you pay is 15% on 110% of the value of the item. Some items attract duties as well
  22. Any idea if there is a DSTV replay of the ladies MTB?
  23. Anywhere where a reply is available? Useless DSTV has no replays as far as I can find
  24. Wow first time I am seeing this course. Simply amazing IMHO. Way better than any WC course. Never in a World Cup have I thought "ooh I'd like to ride this course". But this one I want to ride all day...
