The road will be full of wobblying roadies so it will be easier to ride on the pavement.
  2. I think Bigben mentioned in one of his posts a while back how Bryce Munroe after finishing a race went back to pick up a gel packet he accidently dropped. Excellent example to younger folks and a number of older folks as well.
  3. Retail store bikes are OK for riding to the shop and back but for anything else they're crap. My 1st Bike was a Makro Raleigh which i bought to ride my 1st argus, by the time i got to the Argus i had replaced the wheels, pedals and chainrings due to them failing. Look for a bargain at a second hand store rather.
  4. That's a good idea' date=' my pockets are usually stuffed with bar ones, gel packets, cell phone etc and i waste time trying to juggle the contents to fit the tube in. [/quote'] Just make sure Winnie Mandela does not get any ideas! She's more interested in matches and stompies.

  6. Be carefull of that, the JHB2C route has been negotiated through private land with local farmers.
  7. Opposite to what i saw in the Springs race, guy and girl in Springs Wheeler kit kept their punctured tubes and rode until the waterpoint and handed them over.
  8. Maybe pm contact Underachiever, he's out Rynfield way.
  9. Mamapara is spot on
  10. Anytime squire just let me know Cool will make a plan, the Emperors route also has some twisty bits for me to train on.

  13. I better go see what i'm getting myself into
  14. Its a natural reaction, easy enough to analise post event but in the heat of the moment its something else.
  15. Would have been nice if she did the race and given Lynette Burger some competition.
  16. On a positive note, a thumbs up for the large truck's on the route yesterday, the ones i saw made a wide berth when overtaking cyclists unlike some car drivers.
  17. I've heard about the tea and biscuit thing but unfortunately keep missing that. Too slow Scotty? I know how you feel I can keep up most some on the odd occasion , but usually the group splinters and frans back up van does not always follow behind the last rider and i end up riding escourt for dropped souls.

  19. Which side of Boksburg are you, Waterbottle, Muxman and myself are from the north (Bardene, Atlasville) and have informal rides sat and sun.
  20. 35kmh is about right, faster if characters like OB are there. The only thing missing from their rides are the timing mats. scotty2009-10-23 03:10:08
  21. Sundays is around 80 - 100km pace is quite brisk, and they take no prisoners.
