  1. Rob was voted on cannot recall if their was other new blood - otherwise the same old!
  2. Yup thats the man as in Booth bike - he will be 1 of the guys getting my vote - PPA need new blood on the committee and as a CA who is passionate about cycling he should be able to do some good work! I also noticed he has been nominated by somebody who is not on the committee but did serve on the committee about 15 years back. I always find it more credible when non committee members nominate people for the committee be it them re-standing or new nominations.
  3. PPA has a development budget (quite a large one) from which this entry should then have come. At no point has it been disclosed that development will be subsided by the teams entering - so if a development team won the competition would they have got zero prize money? And prize money then paid out to the 1st paying team - to hide behind "development' here is possibly not the right thing to do! Considering the league according to the budget current stand at R25 033 profit not to mention the money PPA has as an association - if not fraudulent - then certainly not wise to deny your more active members who enter all the event in advance (so not that fortunate if it rain just stay in bed) of a few thousand rand?
  4. Something I wrote to "PPA" some on 02 June 2013 - this team has not got anymore prize money (their entry for the team compertition was R1200 and finishing 2nd to date they have received R1000 - certainly not how the prize money was been advertized) - would this be called fraud? "The 2nd place team has asked me to investigate as they only received R1000 for the team prize in the Elite Cat. Here is the link to al the info quoted: http://www.pedalpower.org.za/road/road7/licensing/ Number of teams entered according to team result 10 at R1200 per team Thus R12 000. Rule 16.5 - 80% of this is meant to go back to prize money in the team compertion i.e. R9600 prize money for the elite team competition! Only 3 prizes - how can the 2nd team only get R1000? Here is the ref - if you don't have time to go to the link: The results showing 10 teams! Teamname Points 1. Focus 238 2. Smith & Assosiate 233 3. Orbea SA 222 4. Intellibus 221 5. CWC 193 6. 5. I am trying to keep PPA comment to PPA tread - but a big part of PPA road success has been looking after the more serious "fun riders." The 2013 Spring league they have decided to cancel even after making just over R25 033 off the leagues in 2013 (page 9 http://www.pedalpower.org.za/wp-content/plugins/downloads-manager/upload/2013%20AGM%20book%20Final.pdf ) I don't want to start a PPA debate under this thread! Go to the PPA Annual General Meeting 2013 thread and I am more than happy to debate this their!
  6. Wayne Roberts in association with Alex Heward and Carinus Lemmer announced last SAT night that they will be hosting a Spring League this year, which will consist of circuit races of 120km+ with the longest one being 160km. The races will take place over 30-40km circuits. This is a huge step for cycling in CPT and right now is the perfect time for one system to take over another! Old Hellshoogte is where the race goes up next weekend get your climbing legs ready! SHARE this post and support this series
  7. So now Cyclist will take care of themself - PPA was at the top where they will be in time to come remains to be seen! 9. Page 9 of the AGM book file - Note the R25 033 profit made off the Leagues 2013! Please somebody tell me if I am reading this incorrectly?
  10. Point No. 2 and number No. 7 are the ones I am concerned about - given PPA financial position is predominately due to 1 road cycling event - The Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay cycle tour - one would hope the committee would see fit to invest as much money necessary back into road cycling. The 2nd half of point 4 I do not agree with as the number of road fun rides are on the slide. I tried to get confirmation of this yesterday and certainly will try and have confirmation by Monday night - but certainly while I was still on the committee the cost the PPA charged a road fun ride organizer twice as much as a MTb organizer - with the drop off of road fun rides should this still happen (I already suggested change while on the committee). We all know that putting on a road event is far more costly / difficult than a MTB event due to traffic and the cost around traffic. Please don't misunderstand any of the above - I am not by any means suggesting that more money should be spent on road cycle at the expense of anything else than PPA finical position and I am not suggesting that PPA should go anywhere close to the red to get rod riding back to where they were, possibly just not increasing their asset value by over R3 million in 2013 / 2014 - looking at the numbers thats what the increase was over 2012 / 2013!
  11. NOMINATIONS RECEIVED: 2013-2015 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE last 2 pages! http://www.pedalpowe... book Final.pdf I know who I will be voting for!
  12. Options WP & Boland Cycling · 354 like thisabout an hour ago · We are now moving the race on the 14th September in aid of a Western Cape Road and Track Festival. We will now race on the 15th September. Please support the racing at the velodrome. If they tear it down you will be training in the rain. We have all benefited from a track session somewhere so lets keep the dream alive. So too I expect to see the track fraternity out in force on the Sunday. bring your gazebos and show us you can ride on the road too.
  13. Just move on and accept that unless a PPA committee is voted in which is still committed to see road cycling happen - less and less (PPA) road events will continue to take place! It may well only in the future be only The Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay cycles tour (the event which makes their bank account very healthy), Double Century and 1 toner. The question is will these events then also see less and less participants as less people will be interested in road cycling - thus the cash from The Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay cycle tour will also be come smaller? If that is a the case a very poor business plan! 14. While PPA have successfully failed the road (racing) cyclist - others are stepping in to keep things going: The (lights by Linea) road league from what I hear its 7, 14, 28 Sept. 5 19 Oct. BUT DONT HOLD ME TOO IT just yet please. I will double & triple check. I want to get all the info and routes as well. In the mean time go LIKE WP Boland cycling on Facebook or follow us on @CyclingRSA to stay in the loop.

  16. These will be privately organized - PPA does not see place for racing reading between the lines!
  17. I will let Ray Ray answer this!
  18. Please make every effort to come watch some excitig racing at the Velodrome! "Johan Smith Every sport must have an facility to use for that paticular sport. This is a logical statement. Now what do one do if the City of Cape Town dont want to understand! and ignore the calls, mails, ect to try and explain the situation.... They are bulldozing us. I have to annouce the calander for next year, BUT according to the City the track wont be available!!!!!!! What do we do? 1. We have 2 chances to show the people in power that track cycling is a healthy sport in the Western Cape. The 2 interprovinvial champs where the best trackies in SA wil take part. The orginizers will invite the politicians.....AND WE MUST FILL the STADIUM!!!! We must do this that we cannot be ignored! 2. We will keep on trying to make contact and if that fails try other avenues. PLEASE! This is like a nightmare! Why dont The City want to listen??? It does not make sence at all! They are being told that that the track will still be there.....A WOODEN TRACK? But a wooden track with an availability of maybe 12 times a year is as good as no track at all. There wont be any riders to ride the track....And the 2 years that we wont have a facility while this development goes on??? Track Cycling will die...... LONG LIVE TRACK CYCLING!!!! AMANDLA!!!! hoe lekker werk ek my nou self op....maar bliksem man!"
