  1. I was thinking the anti anti-cyclist group. I been baned from the cureent 1! But you IT guys - can you retrieve posing that were posted and now deleted? I want to hand the over to the President of CSA - my lawyer!
  2. The comment were removed after post this - which which was also then removed! "Wow the SA government is putting 1 billion towards buying bike for the less fortunate for transport - yes some limited bike paths will also be created. Motorist get use to cyclist we were here before you and no doubt like in other cities (London) you will not be allowed to drive - Cyclist rule! Their are going to be a lot more bikes on SA roads. I am seriously thinking of going to the local police station and lay a charge of conspiracy to commit murder again all those in this group who are not bike riders and of course the creator of the group!"

  4. Listen alot of the comment were just aimed at cyclist been on the road how how some facebookers were just going to run us over - I see most of these have been removed but see some of the replies and you may sort of understand what had been said. My question was is their anyway of laying a charge of conspiracy to commit murder agains these facebookers?
  5. I see some of the coment have been removed!
  6. Group Info Name: ANTI - CYCLISTS (Cape Town) Type: Sports & Recreation - Outdoor Sports Description: I hate cyclists I see you every day, riding around in your gay little uniforms with sponsorships all over them. Wise up jackass! You sit in a cubicle all day and wipe boogers in the carpet. No one is sponsoring you while you ride around my f**king neighborhood. What you fail to notice is that when you put your dumb ass on a bike of any kind, you're considered a driver and that bike is a vehicle. That means you have to stop at all stop signs, obey the speed limit, and stay the ****out of the middle of the road. The next asshole that runs a stop sign while I'm in the crosswalk is going to get a broom handle in the spokes. Maybe a mouthful of asphalt will make you change your habits. f**king idiots. when you were children you learned to ride a bicycle...you are all adults now...go buy a f**king motorbike. AND stop[ trying to dress up to look more gay than your friend , you look REALLY pathetically stupid and people are disgusted by the way your balls hang out all over the place. Just where does the sense of entitlement come from? Is it some kind of magical force that overcomes you when you sit on your finely contoured seat and peddle your titanium wonder over hill and dale? Whatever causes it, if you expect us to "share the road" (as your bumper sticker on your mini van proclaims) you better start acting like you know the rules.
  7. That is the name of the group - creator Shannon De Beer
  8. This topic has appeared on facebook - anyone of you guys cops or detectives? I would like to lay a charge of conspiracy to commit murder against the anti cyclists. Any advice?
  9. Groot Lem - some secrets are better kept that - yes we all want everyone to know the loop hole, (I use it too) bur CSA want to close the hole for about 5 years now - I think they might just do it now!
  10. I am really horrified to hear what has happened here!! When the unification process started many years ago PPA was quite clear that for their rides these petty rules on kit would not apply (their is even a rule on socks). I discussed this last night with some people and they were of the opinion that leagues were not happening then - I disagreed. For me this is the start of the beginning of the end! The PPA league will probably dwindle to what the winter leagues have become - It just not fun anymore to go to these events to suffer all the abuse! I know I have stopped going, but I really do enjoy Killarney on a Wednesday night without all the rules!
  11. Any idea of what the import duties are on cycling clothing? I may bee keen, but I do not want to work more for the gov. than I already do! So if the duty is 45% then 14%Vat plus 2% surcharge - thats already 61% to gov. on clearing the clothing - upfront payment before I would have even put a mark up on. Then of course I have to pay company tax on profits and personel income tax! So what margins are you allowing for the importor remember the cycle retailers would want to mark up by about 50% - a clothing retailer like Edgars would like to mark up by about 400%!!! I already import quite a few things from Holland / Belgium even outside of the cycle industry like Kanjers wafels and Gouda's gilde wafels and in the cycle industry I am the agent for Van Tuyl and Spinergy in RSA.
  12. assuming you have greased the pedals and BB - now make sure all the chainring studs are tight and greased and most important if their are bolts holding the frame together are the rear dropout make sure the are tight!
  13. Groot Lem Lawrence Mbeki- the clever one not in contact with people on the ground. Is this true? We get monthly news letter from the current President. I never got this in the past or at least for many years!
  14. Holy Roller - so you never take a holiday? Everyone takes holidays so please dont point fingers at someone for taking a holiday. I work for myself and strangly enough when ever I plan to take a holiday it always seems to be the worst time to take a holiday - even when it was planned months in advance! I.E. it never seems to be a good time, but you have to be able to walk away and recharge the batteries. As pointed out their are procedures / instructions for selection - I do not know what these are and no doubt they are always been updated. But the reason for procedures is so that 1 or more people should be able to be absent and things should run perfectly fine! Knowing the president quite well I know he is spending a great deal of time adopting procedure which hopfully will remain in place long after he has left. In fact because of the foresight he had many years back cycling now benefits hugely for the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay cycle tour and has continued to do so even though he is no longer chairman of PPA of on the Cycle tour trust.
  15. Quite right and as far as I know their no prize money {directly} for winning. This race is all about pride and the pride of the nation - not commercial. Thus is it suprising that the rider with the toughest year in terms of no sponsor for 2007 did the best - or is it that he still needed a result for the year to put his critcts back in their place and to ensure that their will be no back tracking on his 2008 contract? The opportunity taken with open arms! He did not have that many this year. This is why management at this event can play such a huge role in motivating the riders to give 110% and not just 100%. I do believe the riders all did very well, Darren Lill only came off with 3 laps to go and as put by Groot Lem their no prises for finishing - it is about winning. Maybe that is why coached or National team managers are sacked in Sports like Rugby, Cricket and Soccer when the teams are not performing at world championship event. Unfortunately Cycling I do not believe look after their good manager correctly - and we have had some really good managers out of SA in the past who are not just doing it for the money they can get from sponsors, but for the passion of the sport. I must confess I do not even know who went as the management team this year. So I am not trying to put anyone directly down and maybe this team even did a stunning job, but unfortunately the result dont show it.
  16. Well done Dave, I will always remember the day I had the privilege of watching you from start to finish in your following vehicle with Willie Englebrecht in your ride to 3rd placed at the world U23 TT champs in 1997. To CSA however I am not sure how cycling to a degree at this level has gone so far backwards for the world championships. Back in the 90's the cyclist had some finacial assistance and myself who help on several occasion paid our own way - the team got result - where is the passion that brings out world class performances from out cyclist - who are definately capable of world class performances and world championship medals?
  17. And getting back to the topic - the Launch has been cancelled.
  18. Groot Lem, online renewals with CSA wow - now we talking straight into the 21 century!!!! Yipy. Do you know why we have to tell the Commisaires what to do? And it is not necessary anyone fault be it PPA or Comms. But Safty always has to come 1st. As you no I go to Holland quite often - Their the road uses have a culture with regrds to bike, as a motorist you hit a cyclist it is the motorist fault regardless of what the cyclist was doing. The UCI rules come from a European basis and the SA motorist is not educated in this manner if at all. I still to this day do not think in the learners manual their is even one referance to cyclist or bike on the road and their rights or how they shoud be respected. Back to Europe where the UCI rules work they harly ever have road race "classics" it to dangerous we are still very lucky in SA to get road permision to hold road races - in Europe it is now mostly closed circuit crits, and these cannot catter for the masses the way PPA catter for the masses. The SA dynamics are completely diffrent to the European dynamics and unfortunatly our comm's are trained according to the Europen dynamics and this is just not safe on SA roads. Must a rider be killed before the white line is regarded as the end on the road? As for rolling road closure if it were possible at PPA funride - which it is not. Is this safe - I do not think so! We have this at the Giro and look what happenend to Will Roberson - head on accident with a truck this year. A few years ago at SA road champs in Welkom I almost had the same thing happen to me, we were on the start finish road on the far right cutter and I almost connected a car which was not fully off the road - I stopped racing at that point and am happly still alive! Think about it - Please
  19. Groot Lem - Do you no if CSA will be open over their end of year for Licence renewals? The old SACF was never open during what must have been close to their most hectic time of year! If not maybe CSA should change their renewal dates also to June!
  20. Grott Lem Many reasons why PPA have mid year renewal date - mainly because of the Cycle tour and PPA discounts for members on entry. But also our season runs through the end of year and is closed over the winter months. And is it also a little helpfull that all renuwals dont take place at the end of the year! The Xmas bonus for those that get it can only go so far?
  21. Ask JB - but I am sure he would say any yellow one!
  22. We - scratch avg 44.3km/h last night - not to slow for the size of the feild! Talking about size looking at pic 1 Hannachi at the front looks smaller than me at the back - Wow I am fat!
  23. GoLefty - I am taking that as compliment - note I stoped on this topic awhile back. I figured it would become a wast of time!
  24. I also ride these ring - definately a power increase. The problem is the Qring allow you to work through the whole pedal stroke with no "rest" dead spot. Thus your muscles per stroke never get any recovery. This in turn could probable cause knee pain.
  25. JB - recently you did a course in Cape Town which one of my employees attended. Was he correct in his understanding that their is more than 1 ideal way to build a rear wheel - I am not referring to how many crosses etc, but more on the direction of the spokes. I am not sure how this can be? The outside spoke always need to be run back i.e. the opposite whey to which the wheel turns, with it apposing spoke in the same dircetion - these are the spokes doing the most work and although the flanges of a hub may only be about 3mm thick - this create a 6 mm wider "base" for the traingle. Which in turn make a far stonger wheel. Last week I consuilted the guys from Holland mechanics (these are the world leaders in the manufacturing machines for building wheels) on this issue and they agreed with me 100%. I cannot understand why anyone would be worried about the rear derailleur going into the spokes. Bikes should be set up correctly and this argument holds no water especially with 10 speed bikes, if the hanger is not in line with the frame the gears will never perform at their best. Apprently this was the logic put forward why it does not really matter!
