  1. I used the waterpoints and didn't have any issues. That banana bread was bloody delicious 🤤 I thought the event was super slick. Great route, albeit tough as hell. The organization was tops. I'll definitely go in a bit fitter next time. It hurt. A lot. 😂
  2. I hate bibs. I find them super uncomfortable. Also, real mountain bikers wear baggies...
  3. Nope, uploaded from Garmin when I finished the ride.
  4. Hey oobafunky, You will not be disappointed, this was definitely one of the most beautiful rides i've done. One tip I'd give you is to start early instead of midday. The pass gets quite busy, especially with taxis transporting people between the border posts. Also, those taxis drive like hooligans. I started out at 05:30 and got to the top without being passed once. Coming down a bit later there was much more traffic. I did it alone and had no issues. Passport, rain jacket, and watch out for the descent. It gets pretty fast and is pretty loose in some spots. Also watch out for the oncoming traffic on the way down. Below is the Strava File of my ride, so you can get an idea on times. https://www.strava.com/activities/805505476 Enjoy it, it truly is beautiful out there,
  5. This will be my third Dusi2c. :-) Really looking forward to it, such a great race!
  6. Went and played with this beaut on Sani Pass this past weekend. What an awesome ride.
  7. Thanks man. Did 50kms on the Spruit, up to Alberts farm and back while I still had light. Then headed home and did the remainder of the ride in the surrounding suburbs. Didn't want to trek too far out in the dark on my own.
  8. Finished challenge 2 at 21:46 last night. Sjoe, cutting it fine... Also, note to self: Doing such a long ride after a full days work is tad tougher than usual.
  9. I unfortunately have early meetings, so can only start in the afternoon... Looks like i'll be finishing up in the dark.
  10. I was supposed to finish challenge 2 this weekend, but that didn't end up happening. So I've got a big day of riding tomorrow... Eish. Trying to throw in 5+ hours of riding time in the week is a bit rough.
  11. Challenge 1 completed this am... Nice windy ride to finish things off. Legs are a tad tired now, time for some rest. :-)
  12. So the Black IPA turned out really well!
  13. I'm still trying to figure out a route to get 2500m of elevation in JHB. Guess it's just going to be hill repeats for days...
  14. I really enjoyed the route. First time I've ridden Buffelsdrift, will definitely do so again. Good fun.
  15. Just bottled 40 liters of Black IPA on Sunday. This beer has loads of potential so far. Vital statistics are: OG: 1.070 FG: 1.012 7.6% ABV 100 IBU's 4 different malts & 4 different hop varietals. Can't wait to taste this beast! :-)
  16. I'm not the biggest fan of Weiss beers. :-/ That Butchers Block is very good though.
  17. PWC Bike Park is open on Wednesday evenings till 9pm if i'm not mistaken.
  18. Really enjoyed last years race, will definitely be back in August!

  20. I've just joined them for a whopping R179.00 p/m. For me they are literally on the way home from the office so it's very easy for me to squeeze in an hour or two after work. While the trails are not the most technical, they do give you a fair workout if you try smash it through there. Evidently they are looking at catering for the more technical riders, so hopefully we'll see some interesting sections opening up soon.
  21. I'm really not looking forward to Saturday. I've only been able to put in about 20 hours of riding in the last 3 months due to illness. :-( Luckily i'm only entered for the 35 km. I did consider skipping it, but will give it a bash regardless.
