So race organisers, CSA, PPA and whatever bodies there are. Is there a way of organising racing that ensures that we don't retard that standard of racing in this country? I know that since I'm not a Pro the answer for me is easy... When I am riding in my VA category I'll just ride on the left side of the white line. But for the guys who might want to develop their skills and utilise their tactics to the fullest... Well chaps... you're on your own!

This is a very good point nochain.... And I also saw some of it coming through in Groot Lem's post about parents wanting to teach their children the art of racing but going about it without a clue, just he didn't develop it. Maybe he was just angry... lol I also believe that we need a solution for racing, otherwise like someone else said in this thread, all we have is fun rides... And our Pro's, well they just fun riders too...

Agreed windbreaker... And the Pro's are cyclists too. We need them to buy into this as well... I actually don't advocate rolling closures... Just saying if we can't all consciously abide by the rules, and this is evident in certain racing bunches, then we need to be forced to abide. Start with the pro's, those who decide to stick to the rules, cool, those who don't need to have the full force of cycling's governing body brought to bear upon them since they are all members of the said body. Implement this at the highest level of the sport and we can roll it out to the rest from there.... Otherwise.. I still don't see any top teams, cyclists, managers coming out and voicing an opinion... because what we are advocating isn't really what they want to hear...

Yes... so 80% of the Elite field cheats... And half the field of back markers cheats... Still means we have to address the issue of cheating then...

And that's my point.... Pro teams will tell you that... But it's useless speculating on what they may or might not say, I'd rather get their position on racing and safety... We all know what is right and wrong, however they will offer you a different view on what in their opinions is acceptable during racing... You might say that their position is stupid, and quietly behind your back they will tell you to get lost... So, I feel they should be taken to task... We can't preach road safety but allow the Elites to get away with murder!!! So I take exception to some poor folk going round the mountain on the wrong side of the road being singled out and called stupid. Yeah it's stupid... duhhhh! But let's sort it out from the top to the bottom, the head to the tail... I'm sure every contracted rider in this country has found himself on the wrong side of the road at some point in his career... Stupid clutch! What was he thinking of! Shame on them!
