  1. "hijack on" errr...its not a BiTitan my friend its the Titanio.(even better). and no she doesn't have any sisters "hijack off"
  2. Waynedude thanks for posting that u-tube clip. Thats amazing to watch. Wonder what that guy does all day. Also dig the fancy footwear to prevent thigh burns
  3. Hey, did you make a case at the police? I'll distribute copies of this picture at some companies I visit in Worcester. These companies have a lot of employees. What concert was this? Just as a matter of interest what does the ultimate wheel cost? Could one weld this up from a MTB rim? I'd love to try, doesn't look too difficult.
  4. Oh happy day. Tough one though, liquidation sale or ....
  5. I think thats its just the opposite. Remember longer cranks will lower the pedal. You might have to lower your saddle. But only really if you make larger changes like 170 to 175mm. You may not feel a 2,5 mm change as much as the 5mm in the example I've made. I cant help but coming back to a senario of a tall guy and a short guy walking up the stairs. To one of them, taking one step at a time seems more comfortable than the other. The tall guy may feel more comfortable taking two steps with each stride. The tall guy uses more energy taking one step at a time. (short stride with long levers) The short guy uses more energy taking two steps at a time.(long cadence with short levers)
  6. I should have been whipped with a cable housing for not buying this one on my last vist to the US in Houston. This was a stop at a typical garage sale on a weekend sightseeing drive, where everything is hauled onto the front lawn and driveway in the middle of suburbia. The lady wanted $50 for this bike!!!!!! But it was too small for me. and really,...how do you get this stuff home? cos its just a mission to fly with a bike. The frame revealed itself to be like new. No rust, unscratched, the edge of every sticker absolutely perfect. While I spent 5 min admiring it and taking this pic, a boy (who must have been from the neighbourhood because she knew his name) asked the lady of the house if he could have the bike for $30...and she accepted! I just took 4 or 5 or 6 steps back, totally dumbstruck as he took his prize. I replay this in slomo quite often. I realise that she had done a good thing. If only you had seen the smile on his face. He rode off with it sitting on the top tube. damn!!
  7. Quite far for some of your previous regulars. But hey, a fresh start calls for a clean sheet. Will pop in though. Good luck John. Please employ some (really hot) female shop assistants. More bike shops need this.
  8. I would like to see this vitus finish built. This is why: if the rear brake cable is so elaboratly woven through the "top"tube how do they finish it nicely between exiting the top tube and eventually connecting to the calliper in this offset height?
  9. Yup, Vitus or Alan eg are indeed a little diff and not everybody's cup of tea. But they do have their place on the alu frame evo ladder! Regarding the Pinarello... I have heard that the spear shape head tube was too contentious. I thought there might be some truth to this, because it seems that no-one has really developed this concept any further.tarboy2009-09-12 00:26:12
  10. WOW, what a surreal photo. Lucky fish you got a really fantastic pic of yourself here! Its awesome it belongs in some glossy mag.
  11. Please note that the diff between 172,5 and 175 is 2,5mm so on both cranks thats 5mm. Likewise from 170 to 175 is 10mm. I think thats a quite a big diff especially expressed as a % circumference increase IMO its like walking up the stairs. The taller you are the more annoying and unnatural it is to climb one stair at a time. You might switch to taking stepping two steps at a time. The short guy wouldn't be bothered and continue to take one at a time. Now imagine running up the stairs!
  12. Is that one of these no name carbon frames some guys have been threading about?
  13. This ones from my special box. (btw: just learnt to compress!) Its from my box of dream bikes. I'm fascinated by the unusual design of the headtube and the staggered DT shifters. I believe the design was regrettably declared illegal for racing. YES !! tarboy2009-09-09 15:16:32

Bianchi Reparto Corse Price: R 3,500 Ad ID: 142223522 Visits: 85 Location: Durban West Suburbs Hillcrest Date Listed: 12/08/2009 2001 model Bianchi Reparto Corse, aluminium frame, carbon fibre fork, Campag Chorus groupset, Look peddles, good condition, great bike for racing. R3500onco. 082 906 2399 Durban Just for your comparison. On this basis I would say the price is just a bit high...and must agree with above comment that below R4K would be more reasonable. I guess you need to look past the cool aesthetic finish and only at the bike itself
  15. Dear Angelbiker, Thanks for your letter. I am delighted to hear that you have started training again. It is so important to get into shape as the summer approaches and I feel that you have started at the right time. Remember to ease onto things especially if you havent taken a good riding for a while. I was just about to warn you that you may hurt yourself or even your preferred riding equipment. I read that that your enthusiasm has eventualised in you busting your rear. How dreadful that this occurred in the latter part of your ride, which means you may have just left the outskirts of your small town. I am glad that it was not too far and that you manged to walk home and post this endearing letter. My advice to you is: do not give up on your bike... go and fetch it. It has served you well and lets be honest, you have neglected it for far too long. You are trying to find the easy way out, a way to justify to yourself that you tried. That you tried and now its broken, so its ok to sit in front of the TV again in this forsaken town where your only company is 7de laan and desperate housewives and chocolates and those lekker little things growing on your hips that you get from tannies tuisbedruif. We all know that thats no life. Every girl needs a good ride. And needs to know how to take care of her ride. It is already impressive that you know what all these parts are called. This tells me that some people are listening at those tupperware parties. Let us also look on the bright side and be glad that you didn't hurt yourself too badly. Your description is afterall prettty calamitous. Imagined getting spoked over and over again, by not only one but two spokes. Also use the friends you have for support. Perhaps you can find something that you like in the for sale forum and make a completely new and inspirational start. Something new is always accompanied by infatuation and, there is nothing quite like getting onto a new ride. Dont be afraid to spice it up. I wish you great fun and exercise in this new chapter. ...happy days are here again...
  16. I kinda like it, kinda odd and antique looking in this photo yet nicely trimmed. Maybe its that irony that makes it neat. Did notice the aero seat post.
  17. 55 or 56cm ? asking? straight?(the frameset, that is) .
  18. JB, sometimes when I find a beautiful "ou draak" that has been in a garage or store for years, some of the comps are horribly oxidized. Virtually white oxidation and fairly rough. I buff with rubbing compounds from chemspec with an attachment for a baterry drill, I use Autosol... but cant get the finish I want. I recently resorted to diamond paste (pricy) used for polishing engineering moulds. Trying to fing a simpler and elbow friendly method.
  19. Was hoping for some service more industrial on a commercial basis. for all parts such as cranks, callipers, stems, seat posts, etc
  20. wow, a steel Pinarello is breathtaking. This is an eternal classic. A great score and a keeper. Just as a matter of interest: have you weighed it? and if I may, I feel that chain has to come down by one, it looks frighteningly close

  22. Hi, anybody know where I can go with some aluminium parts for a ultrasonic cleaning in the Cape Town area?
  23. I usually not too quick to say this about a pug, but thats actually pretty nice looking. Tight between rear wheel and post, never seen on a pug before.
  24. those are really nice bikes velo. I keep a look out for you. Any condition I take it? also always admire a well posed bike. The deatils such as positioned cranks. positioned valves. valve position rel to tyre branding. they however overlooked the brake cable position on the yellow one
  25. Hey WD wheres that pic of those deltas you scored at the pawn shop?
