Sadly that's exactly what will happen. On the other hand' date=' if CSA (or whoever) puts them on an Offenders List (which the clubs should maybe reference when taking membership applications) then these people will start becoming aware of what's right and wrong on the road. As things stand there are no consequences for bad behaviour. We expect the motorists to treat us as rightful road users. Surely the same rules and sanctions apply to both groups? Why do we not just ride up to these folk and politely tell them that they are being un safe. I do, I know chucky would. If we all just do uor bit we would not have to have these boring chats on sunday afternoons.

The best way to travel with a bike is to just take it with and check it in with your luggage. When I commuted between joburg and Slaap stad my bike flew at the front of the plane every time and never got damaged.

Lee, remove your pedals and take your rear derailer off, it always gets damaged.

levett. I ride with a camera in my glove box all the time. Big H. The cycle lane in that area is just that a lane that last for about 5 km.

Oh my hat all this bitching. Who ever keeps to the speed limit, does not use a cell phone while driving or any other offence need not respond. This last month I have done almost 1000km in and around Johannesburg, including Rivonia road and William Nicol. I ride in a safe polite and respectable manner. In a month other road users have come to know me and respect my right to use the road. When a taxi driver, security guard or executive on the way to golf, take a wide berth around me I wave politetly. The give a friendly hoot of aknowlegdement and then drive off. So therefore be polite on the roads and you will reap what you sow. Be it as cyclist or motorist.
