I was actually very surprised to receive this response to a gumtree ad yesterday. Thought this scam died 20 years ago but obviously must be working! I’ve just realized the brakes I recently bought also came in a plastic bag. Not in a box as evident from those annoying Youtube “unboxing” videos. So also off an OEM bike? I don’t really mind. They work perfectly fine. Price was very good. But some disclosure in this regard might be appropriate for people for whom this might be an issue. Otherwise I really cant fault CWCs service.

It's unlikely that those wheels are going to last, regardless of the tyres. But you can give wider tyres a try and see if it makes a difference, you can always put them on your new wheels should you need to replace the stock rims.

Correct. I wash my bike as little as possible. Mostly only after muddy rides.
