  1. It’s great you are putting this on but you guys are not the first to bring it to SA. In 2018 there was a gravel bike gravduro from Trails End hotel using many of the same trails including Hans Se Kop. It’s a great concept and should be a good day out.
  2. This must be an open mold frame right? No bike company is designing its own disc brake bikes in 2024 with max 28mm tyre clearance.
  3. Is that a typo - max tyre clearance 28mm?
  4. Maple syrup is delicious but it’s 40 times the price of cane sugar and has no additional benefits for endurance sports.
  5. Do you know the max tyre clearance on the Supersix rim brake frame?
  6. I think for running or for extreme heat Mauten makes sense. The research I have read shows that their products have a faster gastric emptying time. But no greater exogenous carbohydrate oxidation per hour vs no hydrogel products. In layman’s language - the Mauten carbs move through the gut faster but it does not supply you with more “energy” per hour vs regular products. Maybe the faster gastric emptying is worth the very high product cost in some situations like a hot running race or triathlon in Hawaii but in other situations Maurten does not seem to provide an advantage.
  7. There are many different grades or types of Maltodextrin. Some have almost no sweetness at all whereas others can be a lot sweeter. It’s a key ingredient because you want the very low sweetness type to counter the extreme sweetness of fructose. Point being they are not all the same so switching suppliers may give you a very different product.
  8. There is not a huge difference in rainfall data between July and Sept in Swellendam. July gets a little more than Sept but on average has slightly less rain days.
  9. Congrats! The headwind in the last 40km was proper. Good thing that the roads were dry and rolling pretty fast. I really hope the numbers for all distances bounce back because this is a superbly organized event. Very safe routes, well marshaled, excellent aid stations.
  10. This should be a fun event. We did this exact type of gravel enduro event back in 2018 from Trails End. Lots of the same trails including Hans se Kop. The 100km is going to get a tougher day than most people realize.
  11. Chris an informed opinion would be from someone that currently lives in Swellendam and had ridden those roads in the last 2 weeks. Not from childhood memories. You stated that it would be a mud fest based on rainfall that hit Cape Town. That’s not helpful or accurate.
  12. The forecasts I was seeing showed little to no rain in the last 2 weeks in Swellendam. Do you live in that area?
  13. You really need a reality check. If race directors were forced to refund all entries when a race is cancelled because of weather there would be no races. Zero. No events management company or individual would take that risk. They have expenses that they do not get back. Please stop thinking just of yourself and think of the broader bike community and all the people that make these events happen.
  14. https://www.rapha.cc/rd/en/shop/mens-brevet-insulated-jacket/product/BIJ06XXLDP Loads of examples. Look in the archive section for products on sale.
  15. By moderate if you mean delete or block low scores then that’s incorrect. Take a look at Rapha. Plenty of 1,2 and 3 star reviews. Own your mistakes and make it better. That’s what ethical management does.
  16. So you’re ok with them blocking 1 and 2 star reviews so they never appear on their website? try not to conflate dealing with the issue via customer service. That’s a separate question.
  17. By their own admission they do not post the 1 and 2 star product reviews. Ever. Those reviews never make it onto the website or into the overall product review averages. You may call that “finer semantics” I call it gaming / faking / manipulation the stats in a dishonest way.
  18. Leave them a review on their website. Oh wait the review will never see the light of day. Got to protect the 5 star rating.
  19. To me it's a question on honesty and respecting your customers @CIOVITA You do not publish one and two star reviews even if it's a well thought out review from a verified customer. In fact your team ignores questions about why those reviews are not posted. Even if the review app is a plugin (or external platform as you put it) you control what that App displays by screening reviews. By excluding the 1 and 2 star reviews you are "gaming" or faking the overall review percentages the plugin produces. So the overall rating ends up being as fake as your <3% "merino" jersey. It's a slippery slope. BTW - I actually really like some of the other Ciovita products I have.
  20. Filtered implies the reviews actually exist online. That is very different to blocked and never posted in an effort to preserve the 5 star rating.
  21. I'm not talking about filtering. They are excluding reviews completely so it does not effect the overall rating. They don't make it onto the website. Sure it's not a requirement to have any reviews at all - but it the company emails customers and asks them to review their purchases then they should publish what they get. Or remove the review section entirely. To me it's a question of honesty and it tells us a lot about a companies management team.
  22. Whats you point? I tried that route.
  23. Nah they should have the balls to show all reviews. Even Rapha, the kings of marketing, does that.
  24. Let's get your definition then. If a company screen all reviews and only posts the very positive ones but blocks the slightly negatives ones what would you call it?
  25. Size was just an example. My review had nothing to do with size. "As for their Corsa bibs .... not again". If you wrote that review guaranteed it would not be on their site.
