  1. Was the factory reset suggested by Wahoo? Did the update and it seemed to work till yesterday. After 10 mins it still hadn’t picked up gps signal.
  2. Thunderoo 470g S Works Pathfinder 435g I’ll leave the maths to you but if you’re struggling use your phones calculator.
  3. 200g? Where did you get that? I wrote half a sip not half a bottle. It’s 35g per Tyre.
  4. Pathfinder is slower and the weight difference is 1/2 a sip of water.
  5. My recent experience with 3 different Aliexpress packages with free shipping via post office was about 30 days. They all arrived but it did take a month.
  6. Sounds about right. From my knowledge cycling computers attract 15%. Then there is a 10% uplift fee and then there is vat. Plus the customs clearance charge. This is all separate from the actual shipping costs Alliexpress charged on the order.
  7. It’s the OG gravel race that started with a small group of locals in around 2008. It was called the gravel world champs as an inside joke. The name stuck. Also unlike Unbound this “small local race” actually offers prize money to the pros that are trying to make a living out of racing. I’ve ridden with one of the founding crew a few times. The spirit of gravel maybe dead but its origins are in Lincoln Nebraska.
  8. Thanks for posting this. Just got in from a ride and mine was intermittently dropping or not showing data. Good to know they are working on it.
  9. You can discuss whatever you like. I'm making a comment on clothing and driver behavior.
  10. We don't need to guess if high-vis increases cycling safety because it's been studied. If it makes you feel safer then you should wear it but the data proves it's not safer. The only thing that makes a difference is the treat of enforcement. It's like seeing a traffic cop parked on the side of the road - drivers slow down. The fake police cycling jacket made a difference because people thought they might be fined if they passed too close to the cyclist.
  11. You missed the point. Nothing to do with UCI. Gravel and road bikes already exist with 32. I didn’t say they would be adopted as a new standard simply that that wheel size can be used in any discipline.
  12. What do you mean? If 32 becomes a new standard then gravel bikes will be designed to fit 32 wheels. You make it sound as if a 32 is a specific type of bike rather than just a wheel size. But it can be a mountain bike and a gravel bike and even a road bike.
  13. Send you a DM
  14. For DC originally 2x with 48/32 front. Enough high and low range. Now 1x 48 front with 10/51. Don’t need the MTb cassette for DC but it’s my gravel setup. Pros and cons for both.
  15. A gravel bike can be a one bike solution for road riding and gravel but not as an MTb replacement if you want to ride actual trails. Over the last 10 years I’ve owned 11 gravel and monster cross bikes. The full spectrum. Rode Kirstenbosch loop and Tokai when gravel bikes only had 38mm tyre clearance. Rocks and rigid is fun in the beginning but it sucks longterm. Revolt with 2.2 is about as good as it gets unless you add suspension. A Revolt is also good for sub 6 DC no problem. If you are a sub 5:20 rider then you may want an aero bike.
  16. One the common hurdles for monster gravel bikes is MTb Q factor and limited front chainring size. This Silverback SBC frame fits a gravel wide crankset so you get gravel bike Q factor and a 40 tooth front chainring. The frames also only 1,000g which means if you add carbon wheels it’s a similar weight as many rigid carbon gravel bikes. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/gravel-bikes/833021/monster-gravel
  17. It's a hell of a leap to say that an increase in ad enquires means an increase in sales. How many of those enquires are reseller accounts making low ball offers? How many enquiries actually turn into sales and at what discount to asking price? Ask any retail store owner if their dual sus bikes sales are up an impressive amount. If sales are so strong why are Specialized and Trek and others offering new Mtb's as discounted prices. It's not only SA. In Europe Mountain Bike sales have fallen off a cliff (except for eMTb's).
  18. Paying to join the Gravel Earth series was the proverbial nail in the coffin. Hopefully SA event organizers learn from this going forward.
  19. This study shows that carbs improve performance. Regardless of what kind of diet you eat or how fat adapted you are. That’s the key takeaway.
  20. New MTB sales have tanked except in the E bike category. Especially Enduro bikes. The 2nd hand market is going to suffer if new bikes are discontinued and sales are slow. It sucks but you may only end up getting 50% of what you originally wanted.
  21. Don't think they should have bothered. Tracer has worse rolling resistance than most fast XC Mtb tyres in the 2.25 to 2.40 range.
  22. Did you add citric acid? To me it’s an essential ingredient.
  23. In 2025 new products are coming out at 1:1 as there is no significant advantage to 1.08:1. Table sugar is 1:1. Add salt and citric acid and you have a perfect mix for bottles or gels. Buy a gel flask and the ingredients are so cheap is basically free sports nutrition.
  24. This whole thread is about accidents not frame construction defects that are covered by the manufacturing warranty. The later is not an insurance issue. What do you mean? What's the difference between an accident and hitting a pothole? Both damaged the frame and are not warranty related. Frame warranty covers manufacturing defects. Unlike helmets and some wheels that have a crash replacement warranty. What bike brands have a crash replacement warranty for bike frames?
  25. The insurance is for replacement value not what you paid for it. If you buy a used bike for R20k that costs R40k new you need to insure it for R40k.
