Just get out and ride as much as possible...the rest will come by itself...and enjoy it...

My son has a Silverback Stratos SBC...actually belonged to Mariske Strauss. We converted the rear suspension from remote to manual lockout...now we have a cable grommet in the frame which has a hole for the cable...id like to replace it with a blank one without a hole.. Hes actually studying to become an aeronautical draftmen and has started drawing it in CAD to have it printed but i dont think he finished it...its quite an odd teardrop shape

Mine did the same afyer 100km...took it back andvthey sent it in...been fine ever since...a lot if them do it initially. According to complete cyclist its a seal inside that goes but theres an upgraded seal that they supply now...ive heard about quite a few that did it...my friend bought same bike as mine...also did same thing but after initial repair its fine

Trailbikes normally have longer suspension travel than a xc bike. They are also generally heavier with a slacker geometry. They are mafe to take bigger hits than an xc bike. If you looking to ride flat roads and longer distances a xc bike like a Specialized Epic or Giant Anthem is the answer. If you wanna play on the trails and ride more technical stuff with occasional jumps thrown in the trail bike is the right tool...make no mistake in the hands of a competent rider both bikes can do the same job but i think for you a xc or marathon bike would be best.....

I bought a 2nd hand Buzzrack spark 3 a few years ago...i replaced straps i think once and my rack gets used every weekend. Thebagent was very helpful and last time i went there i also wanted to replace the clamps...they didnt have stock so gave me 2nd hand ones from another rack..no charge. I got it in my head to buy a lighter Thule at one point...the weight difference was negligible but upon getting home with thr Thule and trying to use i noticed that the arms for the 2nd and 3rd bike has to be routed through the triangle of the first and 2nd bikes if that makes sense...it was really irritating and i sold the rack the same evening...on the buzzrack the arms with the clamp pass over the frames and i put the clamp around the seatposts...much better...for me BUZZRACK all the way...good luck

Hey there...it all depends on your budget but get as good a bike with funds available. I started on a Giant Anthem. It had 3 x 10 Shimano Xt gears which i changed to 1 x 10...meaning 1 chainring in front and a cassette with 10 cogs at the back. Good hydraulic brakes definately...dont skimp on that...i dunno your age or current fitness level but im 49yo and prefer a duel suspension over a hardtail for comfort sake...the latest gear ranges are 1 x 12. 32teeth in front with 10 to 50 teeth at the back...that allows for more than enough top end as well as a granny gear for really steep climbs..i have a friend that may be selling a Giant Anthem in a medium which is your size...if you need any info or help wap me. Bike addict currently advertising the CST for R380...havent personally bought the crossmarks in a while but have seen good prices..i bought specialized fast traks late last year for R350 each. Also look at Chauo Yang at Cycle Lab...also a good tyre so there are definitely some good prices around if you look...

As rim tape i use 25mm Gorilla tape from builders...works a charm

If your tyres arent tr just get yourself a set of cst Patrol or Maxxis Crossmark..both great tr tyres and really not that expensive. Around R380per tyre...they also seat easily..save yourself some headaches...been there done that got the tshirt

Hi..Northern farms green route would also be suitable. Its 12.6km long wuth nice wide dirt road all the way...i found with my wife was that single track to a new rider can be intimidating. Especially if its slightly rutted...i tends to grab front wheel and throws you off course....just m2c

Hey all. I need some safe route info for mtb or gravel from Bapsfontein towards Bronkies or Delmas. Were from Cradle area but have to go visit the wifes family in Bapsfontein some time and to be quite honest id rather be riding...how safe is it out that way? Any dirt routes 30 to 60 km will do...was thinking out to Bronkhortsspruit dam...any info would be appreciated....

Bottom line...why cant the dog owner keep their animals leashed as required by law...if go playing with my mountain bike on the N1 highway and get killed must i blame the vehicle. Parks are public spaces yes but with freedom comes responsibility...if you want to use the said park stick to the law and everybody will be fine...a cyclist riding a R100000 mtb has just as much to lose as the dog owner...and it seems dog owners cant understand that their animals are unpredictable..you cant control their actions when off leash...they should be fined uf dogs are loose...i got bitten by a off leash dog which came running at me..owner wasnt close to my path...so im sorry..keep dogs on leash..

In reply to Paul..i agree...if you want your dogs to run take them to a dog park...you not gonna let your kids run in a street are you? As it is we cyclists are getting off the roads due to dangerous drivers...now we have to deal with idiots who cant keep their animals under control in a public space...

I ride Delta park very regularly as well as other park like Alberts and emmarentia...we try our best to avoid dogs. Im an animal lover and have dogs of my own. I was bitten by a staffie off leash in Alberts and after a verbal confrontation with the owner he admitted that his dog is supposed to be on a leash and paid my doctors bills...city bylaws require dogs to be leashed permanently unless in a dog park...bottom line is they are on the wrong side of the law...plain and simple as that...an animal thats running around freely cannot be controlled and becomes a hazard to other park users..whether cyclists or people just walking....

I weigh 85kg, ride mostly trails like Northern Farms, the Spruit ect. Nothing too technical. Running 1.8 rear and 1.5 front. Was running 1.9 front and rear for a while but found my front wheel washed too easily...since ive reduced pressures grip is much better..
