  1. My two favourite brands in cycling are Maxxis and Scott. I had an epic adventure doing an all terrain journey through Montagu and surroundings. No punctures whatsoever and my Maxxis Crossmarks impressed once again! #maxxistyresSA #scottsportzafrica#bikehubber @bikehubber
  2. Day 5 - Montagu (Part 2) "After the ride, we walked through Montagu. Stopping by the Saturday Market. The Greek section was the most interesting, flavours I never tasted in my life. A Route 62 Shop in Bath Street we bought custard pastries made by a Portuguese. Out of this world! Our final stop (and also the best one) was Barrydale, more specific Diesel & Crème. Wow... Best milkshakes in the whole world! Seriously, a must stop if you pass by." Merry Christmas to everyone! Have a splendid and magical day today with friends & family. Sent from Pure Android
  3. Day 5 - Montagu (Part 1) "Exploring Montagu is the title for the day. My longest ride yet and was so amazing! Was quite cold that morning, but I would rather ride in cold weather than heat. Found this forest with rocky terrain. Was something different that I am used too, nevertheless awesome. Went to Kanonberg for the view over the small town. I then visited my great, great grandfather's house. Afterward, I headed to a hiking trial. Some sections I needed to bike & hike, but most of it I could have ridden. Ended my ride going to the Old English Fort and back to the town where my dad picked me up." Sorry for not posting yesterday. Strava results will be in Part 2. Sent from Pure Android

  5. @'Dale well when I am back in Durbanville, I will most likely also not ride so much, will be chilling too. [emoji14] But hay, that Cannondale of yours probably ride like a dream. One sweet looking bike bud. Slowly fall in love with those Lefty's... Sent from Pure Android
  6. Day 4 - Montagu "Abnormal weather today... Hectic wind, just an unpleasant day for riding! We went to Oude Post Bistro yet again for Roosterkoek, this time buying for later the evening as well. My heart broke for the farmers who had to fight a fire (it was on the news) we passed by it. The smoke was so thick we could not even seen in front of us. The wind too did not help much. Ended the day with yet another journey on my bike, before I got caught by the little rain. Currently outside typing (oh I was greeted by a frog under my legs lol) this and hoping that it will rain through the night. It will most definitely help those farmers a lot!" Love the sheep. Going to do a morning ride tomorrow to Montagu. 50km, cannot wait! Sent from Pure Android
  7. @Desi we are having abnormal wind here at Montagu. Haven't been on the bike today. Sent from Pure Android
  8. Day 3 - Montagu "Day trip to Swellendam for the day. Visited a Fairy Sanctuary for my little sister. Afterward walked around the town and for lunch we went to Oude Post Bistro for the best Roosterkoek in the world. Did not have much time today for riding, but got something in." 9. Day 2 - Montagu "What a day on the bike! Went for a 10ish ride and boy was the weather perfect! The breeze did well for me, but returning was super intense. It was pretty warm and I started to suffer. Luckily it was only a few kilometers away from home." Photos were taken with my Android device, El Cheapo Point & Shoot + my trusty DSLR. 10. @RocknRolla Haha, sorry! Just having a blast here, but sho the heat is quite challenging. Got up early-ish and the temperature was already 26 degrees. Explored a little and found a awesome mini mountain, but will post that pictures tomorrow. EDIT: Want to do a morning ride to Montagu from the farm. Will think about it, it is about 50km.
  11. Day 1 - Montagu "Very hot day, but nevertheless an awesome day." Stay tuned for more! Disclaimer: Sorry if my images (or unnecessary spaces) not in order or such. Talana has literally no signal, so I need to take my bike to go to the top. Luckily getting 4G. Publishing/editing both on my android device and ultrabook with a mobile hotspot. 12. Unfortunately my day did not plan out as I want it to... http://i.imgur.com/zmNVvT3.jpg Luckily a fellow BikeHubber @Gravity (Bertorium, I hope I spell it correctly) saved my life! Super friendly guy and was nice to meet him. He saved me from walking almost 8km back to home, so really thanks a lot, Bertorium.
  13. "The early bird catches the worm." ~William Camden So woke up this morning at 5am for literally the first time as I am by no means a morning person... Made myself Weetbix & Rice Crispies (yeah, I love mixing porridge) and a cup of coffee. Afterward, I got my cycling clothes and was on the road. That morning breeze was amazing! Loved it. Arrived at Bloemendal in one piece. Passed a few cyclist on my way. Did the B-Spot and the climb, following Lombards descend. Did B-Spot again and was greeted with two brothers riding. Unfortunately, the one had a flat tyre. They asked if I had a pump, so I gave them mine. No luck. Then I settled back home. Safely at home and what an amazing ride on my bike this morning. Awesome way to start the day! Next time I will take my El Cheapo Point and Shoot because my phone's camera is mediocre. Please excuse my last photo. My left eye was apparently still asleep http://i.imgur.com/tjOCgX3.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/bxuS3ch.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/Jf8X0WA.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/o7bDw0R.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/e37UTXs.jpg
  14. This is truly my first article I completely finished reading! Amazing read and superb pics.
  15. Awesome little trappie with my bro today. Wanted to ride Contermanskloof, but that changed to Visserhok climb and back home. My friend's trusty Scale 940 on the left and on the right me featuring the CAT bag. http://i.imgur.com/ojwMYon.jpg
  16. Wanted to go ride earlier, but that did not happen... So I made a quick route of my own. Pretty nice although the wind was quite hectic, but enjoyed it a lot! Time was not on my side, as I needed to go fetch my grade 12 books. http://i.imgur.com/D3ElRna.jpg
  17. Thanks for the info Myles. Appreciate it.
  18. @Headshot: How's the sidewalls on the Specialized Ground Control tyre? Just curious to know how they compare to the Maxxis Ikon, because I will choose between those two depending on the price.
  19. Love the second pic's reflection!
  20. Freaking insane! Next year I will commute daily to school and I use my bike to travel to my friends almost everyday, so this tyre would really be ideal. I did contact Tygerberg Cycles and they said they currently do not have stock of the 2.3" version, but will be getting in next week.
  21. Sweet. Yeah, my friend is running it on his Specialized Rockhopper for a year now and the wear is holding very good on the tar. Will give the Specialized Concept Store near Tyger Valley a call. Hopefully, they stock the 29x2.3 version.
  22. Well, in that case, I will give the Ikon tyre a go. Going to my local bike shop today, so I will also ask for feedback on the tyre. Okay cool. Haha. I was on Maxxis website to check the weight of the Ikon TR/3C/EXO 2.2 and must say it is quite a significant difference in weight between them and my current tyres. Opt to go for the 2.2, as the 2.35 is a little heavy. But like you stated with the LUST, you cannot have durability without giving up on something. Will keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice man. Appreciate it.
  23. Did not purchase the tyre yet, still doing my homework. Ask a fellow MTB rider who had those exact on his Scale 910. I am looking at the TR/3C/EXO 29x2.2 My rear tyre is starting to wear out, so want to replace it. But I want to get a wider tyre, so I want to replace the front tyre too to fit with the wider rear. Also, I won't mind putting two different tyres on the bike. A more grippy tire front and a more durable on the rear. For example (like you stated) a Maxxis Ardent front and a Maxxis Crossmark LUST rear. Sent from Pure Android
  24. Would you perhaps recommend something else? Got feedback on the tyre. Excellent tyre, but it does not seal very nice... Especially on the Syncros rims. That is quite a bummer. Maybe a Specialized tyre?
  25. Hey guys, planning to replace my rear (and front if my monies allow it) which is getting worn out. Currently have Maxxis Crossmark 29x2.1 on both my front and rear. I am looking for a tyre that will not easily wear out on the road, as I use my bike for daily transportation between friends (or sometimes to school), but I also do tracks over the weekend. The track I most frequently go ride is Meerendal. I want to upgrade to a thicker tyre, but all depends on the cost and weight. I really love the weight of my bike now, so the next tyre should be in the same weight area or less. I am by no mean an XC racer, I only do MTB'ing mainly to stay fit and enjoy the views. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
