  1. I'm sure that is the way they advertise it but it is not what I've experienced. Three years ago I tried to claim on a warranty for an 8 year old Giant hard tail and was told that the warranty is only 5 years. Last year when I bought my Trance, the LBS, which is a Giant authorised dealer, told me that the warranty on Giant frames is 5 years. Either I have been screwed and given incorrect information by someone who should know the facts, or something else is a bit fishy. Will do some more research on this on for sure.
  2. Giant actually has a five year warranty, valid for the original owner. Lifetime warranty perhaps, but for the life of the bike, not the owner, and they consider the life of the bike to be 5 years.
  3. Maybe this will help if you haven't seen it yet. Not much info though: https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/articles/routes-trails/trail-daze-bobsledding-down-welvanpas-r4526
  4. Might be a good idea to make the end cap flange larger so that it covers the entire end of the grip.
  5. I think in your situation it would be easier to courier the shock to an independent suspension workshop in SA, or buy a new or secondhand shock. Omnico can be a bastard to deal with, especially from another country. Courier will cost a bit though. Not a good situation, good luck.
  6. Can you elaborate on this? How does it cause damage? If there is movement when the bike is picked up by the saddle, has the damage already been done or is it the movement that causes the damage?
  7. The LBS you bought the bike from, if they are worth anything, should handle the warranty claim, if the shock is still under warranty. They are supposed to send the shock to Omnico and handle the claim, or at least that is how it is supposed to work. You might be charged for courier costs but it should not be your responsibility to deal directly with the distributors.
  8. I wouldn't really call it a problem, after a few rides there will be slight indentations where you grip the hardest, but that could even make them more comfortable for some, as they conform to the shape of your hand. Don't expect them to last as long as rubber grips though, they do tear much easier. As for other silicon grips I can't really say if they would do the same, but for a quarter the price of ESI's its a no brainer.
  9. Yes, especially where the thumb grips. Also pretty hard to clean, actually has to be scrubbed well with proper soap to get them respectable after a dirty ride.
  10. Witfontein this morning. Not great pics but was a little too tired to care after the climb. Great singletrack downhill after the climb though, built and maintained by George Hillbillies. The start of the Montagu pass is just visible in the second pic.
  11. Harkerville red route today. 23km of mostly amazing single track through the forest and some fynbos, all the way to the cliffs and back. Pics taken at the rest stop about half way. Well done to Cape Nature on maintaining the trail, well worth the trip and the R40 permit fees.
  12. Holyyyy sh!t! Saw that jump line up close yesterday and I don't think I'll even manage it down the launch. My heart will AWOL through my throat before I even get close to the first jump.
  13. Garden Route Trail Park today. Had a look at the loop where Matt Macduff fell from the sky.. and it is moer high! The park is awesome in every way! And down at the Karatara river before climbing back up to the awesomeness of Forest Frenzy and Madcows.
