  1. Playing around at Witfontein.
  2. Might be a good idea to make the end cap flange larger so that it covers the entire end of the grip.
  3. I wouldn't really call it a problem, after a few rides there will be slight indentations where you grip the hardest, but that could even make them more comfortable for some, as they conform to the shape of your hand. Don't expect them to last as long as rubber grips though, they do tear much easier. As for other silicon grips I can't really say if they would do the same, but for a quarter the price of ESI's its a no brainer.
  4. Yes, especially where the thumb grips. Also pretty hard to clean, actually has to be scrubbed well with proper soap to get them respectable after a dirty ride.
  5. Witfontein this morning. Not great pics but was a little too tired to care after the climb. Great singletrack downhill after the climb though, built and maintained by George Hillbillies. The start of the Montagu pass is just visible in the second pic.
  6. Harkerville red route today. 23km of mostly amazing single track through the forest and some fynbos, all the way to the cliffs and back. Pics taken at the rest stop about half way. Well done to Cape Nature on maintaining the trail, well worth the trip and the R40 permit fees.
  7. Garden Route Trail Park today. Had a look at the loop where Matt Macduff fell from the sky.. and it is moer high! The park is awesome in every way! And down at the Karatara river before climbing back up to the awesomeness of Forest Frenzy and Madcows.
  8. I could do with some skills...When you coming down to the garden route? Garden Route Trail Park will make a cool venue! Otherwise I have to try and teach myself and that could be dangerous...
  9. Make that a summer cabin in the woods. 1 degree is a little on the cold side for me!
  10. One of those days... beautiful, calm and sunny, trails slightly wet and grippy from last night's rain, perfect for riding... But laziness prevailed so I took this one from my porch.
  11. If they stick as well as ESI and other silicon grips, you don't need lock-ons. The clamps won't make them stick any better and with no clamps it allows for a longer gripping surface and lower weight. A little less bling but much more practical.
  12. This thread is catching... Just ordered 3 pairs as well. 3 Pairs of silicon grips for R395 including the cheapest courier delivery (R35.00) I have seen at any online store!
  13. I've also been wanting to get rid of the blue on my Trance but have never gotten around to it. Since you've done it once, the second time is always easier, so cut me a set too!
  14. On the way yesterday from Gouritz river mouth to the Reins private nature reserve gate.
  15. Getting some shade at Saasveld, George yesterday.
  16. Finally threw off the stock giant bar and stem and replaced with a FUNN Fatboy 785mm bar and 45mm FUNN Strippa stem, courtesy of Performance Bikes. Yet to see how it handles on the trails, but can already feel a difference just riding around in the driveway!
  17. Found this outjie while out riding in the hills today. Young Cape parrot-beaked tortoise. Taken with an iPhone 5
  18. Took a ride up the mountain to Tierkop from Saasveld, George yesterday, turning at the old George dam and going down to Pepsi pools. Turned out to be a bit of a nightmare due to most of the singletrack being unrideable. About 5km of carrying and pushing our bikes up 40%+, loose gravely, rutty and rocky ascents. Was actually more of an adventure than just a ride! Up at the old George dam Pepsi pools
  19. Haha, I'm lucky that way, work for myself so I decide when I want to work and when not. Only drawback is, the less work, the less pay! Haven't been to Jonkersberg yet, but looking to plan a trip there in a month or so.
  20. You got that right! There is a beautiful spot called Pepsie Pools near the dam that is on my list for tomorrow. Will post some pics.
  21. At the Garden Route dam in George.
  22. Eat, eat, eat. Sleep, sleep, sleep. Eat, eat, eat. Etc, etc, etc.
  23. Thought it looked familiar! I tried that trail from the Dana Bay side, but only rideable for a short distance, very sandy and also rocky in places. Did you enter at the Mossel Bay side? Judging by the signs at the entries, bikes are not allowed, only hikers
  24. Where is that at? Looks like an awesome spot!
