  1. Neither. This is how I read the route. No major climbs, a lot of rolling hills, a a long slog into the wind if the SE is up. Should be a fairly fast one.
  2. And if you strengthen it on the inside (non visible side) with gussets?
  3. It was branded OTEC here in ZA, but is actually a Haibike frame. Alu, quite light and very sturdy.
  4. I'm not a big Kawasaki fan, but I like that bike quite a bit. Congrats, and many happy and safe miles on it.
  5. Steven. I'm using my old HT frame, and things I had laying around. Only new items on the bike is the tires, cassette, rear derailer, chainring, chain, and a few other bobs and bits. Bike was sprayed with rattle cans. Mating my old 10spd 105 Shifters to a 9spd Shimano rear derailer, running a 36x11-32 ratio. Only going to be using bike on gravel roads and for training on road when the roads are wet, in order to spare my two "decent" bikes from unnecessary wear and tear. Progress so far, should be able to button it up during the week. Still needs cables, pedals and maybe a new BB. (old one is gritty, but will see if I can clean it out) Steerer to be cut and new spacers fitted.
  6. A few more pieces to finish my budget Gravel Bike build.
  7. What a wet, cold and miserable affair. Got rained on and a headwind, from the time we turned onto the R302 (Malmesbury road). I was riding with a friend, that was having a bad day. I sat on the front, into the driving rain. By the time we got to the Fruitsellers Stop, I had a few stragglers sitting on my wheel, none able to help, and my friend had nothing more to give, so we decided to rather abort, and make the +-15km to my house, instead of battling into the wind till the Kromme Rhee turnoff. We first had a cup of warm coffee at my home, dried ourselves off and got into dry clothing, before driving back to the start to collect the car we used to get to the start. Still worked out to a nice 65km/h ride for me, with a 20km stint into the wind, with no help at all. Disappointed not to have finished, but rather live to ride another day.

    RIFLE

Correct. Just as the R1 was an exact copy of the FN, with a few small adaptions for "our" purposes, and better manufacturing quality. DENEL/Armscor did build some exceptional weapons.

    RIFLE

Yeah, but keep in mind I have not touched one in 33 years. Looking for that video clip of the SAPS member trying to put her '92 together. LOL....

I'm quite sure that I'll still be able, after 33 years, to disassemble and assemble a model 92 blindfolded. Still remember "my" Beretta's serial number, B10885Z.
  11. And it's back on. (for now ) Good morning all, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your feedback on this event. It is really appreciated and great to have so many people wanting to help and make suggestions. I have taken another look at the weather this morning and it is looking much better. There will be some light rain from 12pm, but nothing to cause alarm. I have also spoken to the traffic department and the marshals and I have made them aware of the possibility of light rain later on in the ride. So I have made the decision to go ahead with the event. I will be sending out an event letter tomorrow morning with all the details. Please note the long route starts at 6:45am and the shout route. Will start at 7:15am. It may be a little cooler on the morning, so please dress appropriately. If you are riding the long route, please note should you not feel up to it on the day you are more than welcome to drop to the shorter route. You will just need to tell reception. Thank you again for your patience and understanding on this matter. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions. Now LETS RIDE!!!
  12. Dunno if I'm blind or just not looking at the right place. What is the correct route for the 110km? Seems to me it is out on the R45 towards Malmesbury, onto the R302 towards Stellies, left on the R312 (at the Fruitsellers 4 way) towards Wellington , left on to the R44 past Windmeul, back to the start. This is what I could figure out from the map supplied on the PPA website. Am I correct with this?
  13. I need high intensity "training" as part of my Amashova preparation.
  14. Said " I'm good either way"
  15. And just like that, received this mail: Good afternoon all, The Pedal Power association is in a predicament. The weather for this Sunday is not looking great and rain is forecast. https://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/Western_Cape/Paarl/long.html We do not like to cancel or postpone events, however we do need to make sure that the safety of our riders comes first. So our question to you is, Will you ride on Sunday despite the rain, or would you prefer us to look at postponing the event to another day? Please reply to this mail with your thoughts and we will take a majority rules approach in order to make our decision. Thank you in advance Yours in Cycling
  16. Seems like this may be a wet ride..
  17. I did not watch the fight as yet, will try and catch it on catchup.
  18. I had a look through the For Sale sites, that TTR is quite scarce, and then pretty expensive also, should you be able to find one that looks half decent.

Too long ago to still be worrying about what ever happened then.

    Lets agree on that.

If you look at it through Marquez tinted glasses, sure, nothing wrong with that move. You can clearly see how he rolls off, causing Quartararo to have to sit up. If it was not premeditated and on purpose, why did he have to remark about it in the interview. But much ado about nothing, it did not cause me any personal harm or grief, still do think it was a dick move however.

It was a knob move, very dangerous, as he could have caused Quartararo to crash(maybe caused himself to go down also) Up to then it was a great, clean race. FQ20 did not give him any reason to roll of the throttle in the middle of a fast corner, in the manner that he did. He was upset with VR46 after the qualifying shenanigans (even alluded to it in his post race interview) and felt he "had to get back at them" . Very childish, and not becoming the defending Champion. I lost a bit of respect for him.

Another good MotoGP race yesterday, but geesh, what a dwis move by MM93. Soured the whole race for me. I mean, he's got beef with VR46, why take it out on another Yamaha rider? Or is it the fact that he knew/could see himself being overtaken yet again, before the chequered flag. Nonetheless, it was poor form of him. Cannot justify it at all.
  24. If only I had the funds. She is a beaut, and at that price a steal also. ANDYMAN, ANOTHER ONE FOR YOUR COLLECTION!!!
  25. He was talked to, not just by me and the Mtb'er, but also the lady he switched. He kept his line for a short time, until he lost the plot again. Some people just ride that way, had a chap with a Club 21 shirt on, that rode like this last year with the CTCT. I elicited a good chuckle from the guys around us when I later told him I will hunt him down afterwards, if he caused me to fall, as I had his name that was printed on his race number, and his number itself. Didn't do much too improve his behavior, so I slowed right up for him to just get away from me.
