So does anyone else except MM93. Why, because he had one bad race? I will remember him for the 39 year old, on a fairly un-competitive bike, that took the fight to guys many years his junior, and still manages to beat the majority of them race after race.

The "Old Man" showed he also has the reflexes/ability to save an imminent front end loss. Big difference between him and MM is that id flustered him like hell and he lost momentum, whereas MM seems to live on the adrenaline and just goes faster afterwards.
  4. True, because he missed out on so much.....
  5. Just don't expect too much of an drop in price (like in the region of 50% due to the year being halfway already)
  6. Got me one of these, in 125mm travel. To be fitted tomorrow.
  7. If you ride within your limits, and keep your wits about you, you will be perfectly safe. I did get almost caught out the first time, by the first deep dip because I was going too fast, but a quick dab of the brakes, unloading of the front, and I was through / over it. (must admit, was the first time I got full compression of my meager 100mm travel on the fork ) You will only come short if you do not concentrate and just go blasting along. As you most probably would on almost every other trail.
  8. About 500m after you turn onto Spes Bona from the Klipheuwel / Wellington rd, you will see the first A-Frame on your right. It is before the gravel road starts to slant up and starts to turn to the right.
  9. Just be careful in those two little sections where the farmers has build "coffer dams" next to the fences to control water erosion. Some of the water run off ditches is quite deep / steep and it is on downhill sections. Hit them at speed and you are not prepared for it, an OTB is in your future and possible an injury or two.
  10. Tested it on Saturday too. Rode with a mate, with me in front most of the time. On Strava he got a few 2nd and 3rd positions on certain sections, but I did not get even one trophy. Went riding there again yesterday, with another buddy who is much stronger than me. He led the way, and I had to push to stay on his wheel. Lo and behold, only a few PB's for me. This makes me believe that these Strava segments are not all that reliable or accurate. But hey, that's not why were are riding Mtb. These trails opens so much possibilities to string routes/loops together, and this 12 km is a nice section to ride.
  11. Fitted this last night. Lyne Components storage system, supplied by Sportopia Cycles in Salt River. Quite a neat solution to a saddle bag dangling under the seat.
  12. Saw a mint RC here in Durbanville the other day. Was one of the "limited edition" models with the pearl paint job. It was mint, looked like a recent restoration. My wife could not understand why I was gibbering like a little girl.

The MM93 show. At least the fight for positions 2 to 5 is fairly exciting.
  14. Jip, was a popular "little" muscle car in the USA, build by the American Motors Corporation. Quite sought after today.
  15. After milking the cows for milk to put in their porridge. (which they had to make/cook themselves)
  16. All part of the adventure. (ear plugs helps with the noise pollution)
  17. It is an amazing event, was it your first one? Can you see why I (and others) were raving about it earlier in this thread? I'm waiting for the 2020 entries to open mid June, got permission from the Boss/Minister of Finance to do it once more.
  18. Photoshop !?
  19. I bought two of these from Sportsmans. One on my road bike, one on my Mtb (was R55.00 a bell) Works a treat, no unnecessary "ringing" on the trails, no matter how bumpy it is.
  20. You guys and gals must enjoy it. Taking pity on you though, suspect this is going to be a wet and muddy one. Enjoy nonetheless. Serious FOMO on my side.
  21. Calling him a legend........
  22. Unless it is 100% fully synthetic oil, I would do the oil change. It is only prudent to do this kind of maintenance.

Sir Crashalot did what he normally does, bin it. JL did what he normally does, ride poorly and then blame everyone else. MM did what he does not normally do, crashed while in the lead. Leaving Valé and Rins to fight for the win. (all this I saw on the highlight package after the race)

Did not watch it, seems it was a nail-biting affair at the end. Where is the okes now that wrote Rossi off as a has been? There is still a lot of fight left in that old dog.
  25. Just asked my buddy that sells end services Lyne wheels. Yes, they are generic bearings and can be bought at Bearing Man, Et al.
