I'll be there, but not racing. Still recovering after heart surgery. I'm so jealous, the trails are looking awesome and each stage is about 2 km longer ( more flowing single track)!!!!!!

It's almost that time again!!!! The trails are looking awesome. We've made some big changes from previous years, stages are +-2km longer. Each stage is now 7km+ of fast flowing, mind blowing, adrenalin pumping, single track downhill trail riding. Stage 1 & 3 have kind of merged, stage 2 extended with more amazing mountain trails and stage 3 is brand new, with an flippen lekker 4km flowing bush tunnel.

Awesome enduro mtb trail riding stage race! Consisting of 3 stage X 2 runs of each ( fastest run that counts). Portage to the start, then down down down. Amazing Mankele trails, sweet single track, flowing bush tunnels, gnarly bridges, boardwalks & drop offs. Don't worry there are chicken runs. Entry includes tented accommodation for Friday 12 - 14 July, 6 x shuttles to the starts & a lekker chicken Braai Saturday night. For more info go to www.mankele.co.za

Hi Jaxtun. Well we kind of border on a malaria zone (Not high risk though). "They" say that the malaria meds actually hide the symptoms if you do contract it. So my recomendation is that you skip the meds, and if you feel a bit fluish have malaria test, it's quick & cheap. Just keep it in the back of your mind, as malaria can ly dormant in your body for up to a year or so.

Can't wait 2 more sleeps. Fittness is gonna go for a ball of chalk, but it'll be worth it! I'll arrive back and have 2 weeks to go balistic before Barberton.

4 Months to go!!!!!! Mark & I did some trail scouting for stage1, what awesome views up there near Mokubolaan. If the views don't take your breath away, the altitude will.

Only 2 more weeks and I'm going back to sand, see & sun!!!!!!

Only 3 more sleeps! I hope you guys have been training, it's gonna be tough but flippen rewarding! The trails are tweeked to perfection. Today we pitched 270 tents in the blistering hot sun. So no sympathy from me when I see you on the trails chopping off up all them climbs. If you're a roady, be warned there is a ton of single track. ENJOY!!!!

Hi All. Trails are looking out of this world, perfectly timed rain has compacted all the new single track sections. We'll update the profiles ASAP, sorry for the delay, but we've recently changed & added some mind blowing sections. But it remains the same ; suffer up up up and return down down down. My tip: Enjoy the ride! PS. Beware the 80m tunnel!!!!

Hey all, the trails are looking out of this world!! We've been blessed with some well timed rain to drop the dust factor at bit and compact all the new single track sections. You guys are gonna be blown away! Day 1 has a whole span of new single track near the waterfall. Beware of the finish you'll be ending on The Sudwala switchbacks (from last years day3). Day 2 starts in the same direction as last year, but instead of climbing all the way up and then decending down the 4x4 track, it's straight into the fun on well compacted cattle tracks. With a new bushtunnel in the mix! Don't forget to save some energy for the SAPPI B/T & Junior's B/T. Day 3 OH MY GOSH!!!!! We're not doing the Old Sabie climb again, but rather straight through the chicken farm and up to Mt.Carmel. 2 little stings and you're into the breathtaking contour single track with awesome views. Then it's play time all the way down, barry's bushtunnel past the sawmill up the last dog of a climb. It has been prepped and is ride-able, but you'll need your granny to get to "THE AVALANCHE". DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN all the way home. To avoid crossing over the road there is a new addition "THE TUNNEL", only 80m in length. Beware it is long & dark in there, creates like a vortex, where you dont know top from bottom. And if you bail it's gonna be on a corrugated pipe "EINA". And then you finish off snakes and ladders. Ellll I wish I was riding! Oh "The Blue Pipe" in the Gauntlet has nothing on "THE TUNNEL"

Ye, despite the climbs, you don't wanna give away all the weight advantage for them downhills. My theory; Eat like a pig and wing it!

Ja, that is the only down side, riding in soft sand aint fun. But everything else is so awesome it kind of makes up for those long, lonely nights reflecting on days gone by, when your knobblies shreaded up the trails.
